We had a delightful evening with our good friends from Taupo. They, like us, had never eaten dinner at The Vines, but once in Annette’s capable hands we had a fabulous evening of wining, dining and cocktails, followed by some equally especial desserts. What a fantastic night. We will definitely be back. Probably the most I have ever spent dining out, but considering the fantastic food, atmosphere and drink choices, it was a bargain at twice the price. The pressed copper sink in the ladies room is also spectacular.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly, great atmosphere and the food was delicious. I had the venison, my partner had the duck and we shared a side dish of beautiful whole baby carrots in truffle butter. Both meats were really tender and so tasty. Then the manager (I think) went out of his way and googled how to make a South African Don Pedro alcoholic dessert drink for me when I asked if they serve it. It was such a lovely thing to do and such a great effort and service to do this for a customer. He also got one his staff to fix the annoying constant beeping of the automated slidey doors to the restaurant. Awesome stylish, artistic interior decor too. Highly recommended.

Fully booked but they squeezed us onto a bar table. We stayed all night for cocktails, dinner and cheese board. The staff were attentive, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Went out of their way to ensure we had a great night. Faultless.

Ate here tonight after a long drive and couldn't recommend it more! Wonderful service and the main meals were delicious (my steak was cooked to perfection). Enjoyed the way they served their whiskey. Thanks guys.

Had a shared Tapas dinner. Could not fault anything. We ate vegetarian as well and selection was outstanding. 5 tapas between us two was ample food as well. Want somewhere special to eat in Taupo go here. We will be back. Congratulations to staff and management outstanding restaurant.

Really nice place and works until late which saved our night. Food was delicious and they offer a wide variety. Portions were unusually big compared to most tapas places. Staff is friendly, highly professional and engaging. A bit stretched with the extra COVID rules, but clearly they are doing their best. Prices are reasonable and we paid no holiday surcharge. I wish cocktail menu had more options to suit my liking, but the Mojito I had was very well made - easily among the best I’ve had. If you sit close to the entrance you may smell some cigarette smoke coming from the tables in the outside area. Not much and we stopped noticing it after a few minutes.

When we arrived we had to stand around and wait to be served took a long time eventually a male turned around and took notice of us. He wasn't friendly whatsoever threw the menus at us and said go find a seat. Wife and I thought it was very rude and we wanted to leave there and then but we decided to stay and see what the food was like. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive. Food was nice

Very good service, very good food. A long wait due to restaurant being very busy but a comfortable place outside to chat with our companions. All 4 of us impressed with our meals and their presentation. 5 stars.

Food was great but the service was slow with tables left messy and a long wait for drinks. Table next to us had a main order missed altogether. Understand things are tight at present and we weren't in a rush but it could have been so much better with a bit more service. I'm going to give 4 stars as the food eclipsed everything and hey its summer !

Platter food was outstanding, we ordered a large platter which had hot food, salad, polenta chips, pork belly etc and the small cold meats and cheese platter, for 4 adults for Dinner. Panacotta and Souffle also great! Excellent service, warm and friendly Staff. Highly recommend, we will be back again.

Nice atmosphere, great staffs, taste tapas . Everything was great and would love to go there again. Huge space so it's better to be there earlier since there are not many close parking space. But just few mins walkies you can park cars near the lake or two blocks away.

Never been there before, and wow the ambience is just awesome, and staff is helpful, pleasant, open, and just fun. The menu is excellent and drinks are awesome. The seating is comfortable and easy. Go in and enjoy.

Stunning venue with amazing food. We tried a few of the delicious Tapas really hard to pick a favourite although think the prawns were the winner. Friendly helpful staff will definitely be back .

Great spot for a drink and food in Taupo. Service is good and friendly too. Great wine and drinks list with good range of tap and bottled beer too. A favourite place of ours when in Taupo and surrounded by other great restaurants if you fancy something different from the great menu available.

Fantastic food and great service!. The ambience at night when it is dark was magical and chilled out music plated in the background. I have been here before when in Taupo and I love it! Highly recommended!

We had been here before so I knew the food was delicious!! But the waiter was quite rude, also took us 45 mins to get our first drink & another 45 mins for our food. Hopefully a one off! We probably will go back when we are in Taupo as menu & food is great!

Had 3 small plates to share and a Seafood Chowder. Service was good and the food was excellent. Next time in Taupo will definitely return!

We visited Vine Eatery on Saturday with a large group of 15 .We had an amazing set menu which was tops .Lots of courses and delightful staff that made our night so special .Thankyou and keep up the great energy and defiantly keep the chef.Go visit them 👍

Well oh my goodness! what a fantastic evening. Such a lovely feel to this space, the wine list is actually a wall of wine! How fun!! The four of us were lucky enough to walk into this busy establishment at 6:15pm and get seated without a booking, what a very accommodating restaurant manager indeed. The four of us ordered a share plate each, which are usually 3 peices, our fantastic waiter asked the chef if he would increase the serving to 4, that we might try each dish (Which he did :).) All of the dishes were well balanced and amazongly tasty. We ordered several cocktails before, and a glass of wine each with our mains, yet somehow the bill was under $500. The atmosphere, setting, staff, and food were all the best. Why this amazing establishment does not have a chef hat, I do not know. The best in North Island! A+++

Fantastic food (we had the mushroom risotto and beef ragout on papardelle pasta) and amazing service. The decor is gorgeous 🤩 will definitely dine here again next time we visit Taupo.

Great place for food and seems to be very popular as it the dining area was very busy when we had dinner around 7pm. Good selection of small meals mains and deserts, food was all good sizes and left us very full. Was a bit of a wait but completely understandable given the number of people. Reasonably priced too. 2 starters 2 drinks and 2 mains was $120 total.

Only had a single pint as I was on a tight schedule will definitely be taking a date here very classy and prices are great for the service and vibes. The managers and owners take pride and it shows!

A very memorable experience with superb service and one of the best meals I have had out in a long time. I had Duck for the main course and sticky date pudding for dessert followed by the best espresso martini. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We dined with my wife and 9yo and 7yo after fishing on the lake and bringing in out caught trout (we phoned ahead). The staff were very friendly, knowledgable and accommodated our dietary requirements well. The food was very tasty, and the trout was much better than I expected it to be. One of the wait staff helped serve our trout which was much appreciated. Wine selection was good. They were very good with our children too. Would highly recommend.

Very nice place in Tapua with very good and friendly staff. Their food offering and their wine selection is good. My partner and I ordered a couple of small dishes to share and where very good, we also had a risotto and pasta which where also nice. The rice in the risotto was a bit undercooked for my taste though. Overall it's quite good but a bit to pricey, specially for the pasta and entree dishes.

We came here on a rainy Saturday night around 7pm and were able to get a seat at the hightop bar tables since we didnt have a reservation. The atmosphere is sophisticated and welcoming with a blazing fire, high celings and creative artistic choices like a chandelier made out of wine glasses. We ordered from the tapas menu so that we could try a variety of dishes. Everything was divine, from our sangria and toblerone cocktails to the last tastey morsel of each dish that we tried. We had the bacon oysters, paella balls, pork belly and venison. For the amount and quality of food we got we thought the price was reasonable and we would definitely recommend this place.

The venison is awesome! But the berry margarita isn’t my type of drink, I’ll would try other drinks next time. It’s busy on the weekends, I was waiting at the front for a bit of time to see if someone would come to serve me.

We chose Vine Eatery & Bar after looking for an atmospheric eating experience and we were not disappointed, from the welcoming from Barbara to the attention to detail as well as the seating arrangement for us. Barbara was helpful in the wine selection. Entrees and main meals were outstanding. Thank you very much.

The fresh menu and produce was welcomed. The freshly baked focaccia, is so good that it really doesn’t need the oil and vinegar. The Moroccan lamb salad was so large and filling for lunch. The non-alcoholic drink menu has a lot of variety - I had the NZ Phoenix, very light and refreshing. I felt for the single waiter for the whole restaurant-they should have had another person, taking orders and delivering food in a timely manner.

Food 5 star. Service 3 star (long wait). You'll have to go search for better venison. Compliments to a great chef and kitchen staff.

We came here on a busy Saturday night and ordered some tapas and beers. The taste of the food is great. We specially loved the porkbelly and the prawn. The service is amazing! Our waitress is very attentive and efficient. Will definitely come back again!!

We all went for our Xmas lunch, the food was well presented and so delicious! We aye Tapa styles while enjoying a bottle of bubbles. The outdoor seating was lovely on a summers day.

Mostly fab, lovely staff, although got a little slow, and I don't recommend the mediterranean fish stew, but all the other food we ordered was yummy.

Had the most beautiful family birthday dinner here last night. The meal and service was exceptional. Our desserts were perfection. Thanks vine we will be back.

Their selection of wines is very impressive however I wasn’t falling out of my chair with amazement from the food. It was better than a chain restaurant for sure but not my definition of ‘fine’ dining. The staff were super helpful and friendly and even helped us to call a taxi.

We spent 3 nights in Taupo and ate each night at the Vines. Staff were excellent. Service Saturday night was slower because they were busy but food was very nice. If it hadn't been we wouldn't have eaten there each night

However Michele the manager who is from tokora did save the day. we initially thought he was a not understanding but turned out to be to the perfect host . Had a lunch meal ; Caesar salad , overall flavor, size good ; but lettuce had patches of decay , also don't use the outer tough bruised leaves in a salad , whilst it's only a small issue ; it raises the question of is the rest of the meal fresh .

The wine was nice, atmosphere on point and service great. Was a little disappointed about the food to be honest. The natural oysters were ok but didn’t taste super fresh, the cauliflower wings were drowning in sauce so weren’t very crunchy and were overly sweet, the fondant was so undercooked it was just a pile of mush. Lovely dining experience but food left something to be desired.

Really great upbeat Vibe with a bit of sophistication but still quiet enough to share a conversation. We've shared tapas a couple of times that have all been stunning especially the chorizo, garlic prawns and the pate. I've had the lamb rack twice and its been stunning. The service is great with friendly efficient staff.

We really enjoyed this restaurant. Had a wide range of food options (although very pricey). If you are after a nice dinner out in Taupo would definitely recommend. Best creme brulee I've had for a while.

I was so impressed with the level of service my group and I recieved by Lee and her team. I took a group of 46 people to eat and there and we left with an experience. From the beginning Lee made my visit to The Vine restaurant very easy. From the booking right to the end of the sitting. We began with 5 entrees followed by our main and one dessert and continued mock-tails throughout the night. Everything was so delicious!. My favorite part was how inclusive the team were to my rangatahi who attended, they even got to try things that weren't even on the menu like raw meat. This was their highlight. Thank you team for providing an experience we may not otherwise be able to get.

A 'go to' venue in Taupo for food and drink. Yep OK you're going to pay a tad more at the till, but every cent worth it. One of the best wine selections in Taupo. Every time I go I always end up drinking a bit more than I should 'cos it's so enjoyable! We aimed for the lunchtime salads. Oh my word! They are huge, tasty, generous, and well balanced. Washed down with a light Rose or Presecco wine they really do work well. Good attentive service both outside and in the main dining area. The big round high table just to the right of the main entrance and in front of the bar is pole position for a group of friends on a wine tasting spree! If you choose outside make sure you're under cover of the Taupo sun! PS Could just do with a freshen up out front, new paint etc. The vibe is still top drawer though!

Casual dining experience. Food was a little unusual which was excellent. Sweet and sour cauliflower, beetroot risotto, who knew. Food service just to the point of waiting too long thus the missing star. Some may feel the prices are a little high but ok. They were very busy.

This is a great place if you like good wine and delicious gourmet food. Unfortunately one of our group had a mishap with the way the steak was cooked (a task which is always tricky and often happens in restaurants when the kitchen is under pressure on extremely busy days). The team were amazing in the way they handle this quickly and professionally.

I came to this place a couple of times now and I have to say that the service is excellent! Barbara is the best waiter in the whole North Island and I'm saying that from my hospitality experience. She is not only kind and honest but also is very knowledgeable of the food and drinks they serve. The food is also great! I tried many restaurants in Taupo and I dare to say that this is one of the best quality food and reasonable price (for a gourmet standard).

Eight of us arrived at 8pm Easter Sunday, the restaurant was packed yet they were amazing and found us a table. The service was beyond brilliant & the kids absolutely loved the dry ice drinks! Every member of staff was fun and friendly and couldn’t do more to accommodate us. The food was absolutely delicious - both kids and adults meals. We literally couldn’t have found a better place to dine in Taupo!

A lovely lady with an accent and glasses was our server and she was personable and funny. We came in on Easter weekend at 5pm on Saturday evening with 8 adults and a baby. Staff were accommodating and food was so nice. It’s often hard to find a restaurant to suit all of our needs and for everyone to be happy with their meals. Most of us ordered tapas. Pork Belly, Portabello Mushrooms, Scallop, Squid, Chicken Nibbles, and Potatas Bravas were excellent. 5/5 experience for our whānau. Thanks Vine crew for a nice evening out.

It was really busy when we went in (didn’t have a reservation) and we now know why. Staff - excellent. Helpful and friendly. The food - yum! My fav is the mushrooms with blue cheese. We wanted to order mains but after the 3 tapas we couldn’t even another bite. Generous portions. Cocktails - also yum. We asked for the bartender to decide and he didn’t disappoint. We will be back when we are next in Taupo

We had an a phenomenal meal here. The staff, especially the waitress, had a high sence of professionalism and the food itself was outstanding. I highly recommend the lemon souffle to future diners. Thanks and will be back the next time I am in Taupo.

There was live music here on a Wednesday night which I thought was cool so we stopped in for a few drinks after dinner. They have ice cubes with orange slices in them for a couple of the drinks which was an enjoyable novelty. The drinks menu is extensive and has a couple of decent whiskeys, which I was pleased with. I'd like to come back and try the food at some stage as well.

Great staff, friendly, vibrant and open spaces. I didn't eat there, did have a pork belly piece and succulent. I would rate 5 if I ate there. But overall the staff made it. Drinks were top shelf too. No cheap pretenders. The DJ or CD player needs some work though haha

Great atmosphere and super stylish place that Taupo needs. Always busy. Four stars because I would say 90 percent of the time they have either forgotten my order or given me the wrong thing. Service is ok could be improved for sure. When food does arrive it’s cooked perfectly and delicious can’t fault the food !

Went there for a lunch and they seem to have dropped the ball. Ordered seafood chowder which was a very small tasty serving with 1 small piece of bread with a huge blob of herb butter, come on guys a cheep offering

Had drinks and dinner for our conference.certainly group of 12 at The Vine last night. The food and the service were both exceptional. Jared was our server and did an outstanding job. Beautiful atmosphere, friendly and helpful waitress and everything came out to us in a timely mannor. I wouldn't say I was in love with the food which was disappointing. Rib eye was good but slightly over cooked, risotto had amazing flavor but rice texture wasn't soft. Overall OK experience.

Ate during a very busy date but the service was still impressive. I’ll admit, the food was good, but I wasn’t super impressed by the items I order. By no means does that mean I wouldn’t come back. Their wine selection is expansive and worth checking out. All in all, a good experience.

Went for a spontaneous roadtrip from Tauranga and was recommended here! Had such a great experience for my first post lockdown outing! The food was delicious, the server was very attentive, and the cocktails were divine! Lovely interior decor and vibe to the place. I'd go there again! 👍👍

Word on the grapevine is that Vine is the place to dine! Brilliant service from our cute to boot young waiter. Nice glasses of red were had. We shared small plates, and were mildly disappointed in some, but others were enjoyed. A warm atmosphere, a great place to seek refuge from the chill outside.

Guys really! you have a stunning environment! Your service sucks! Have you read the reviews? Do something about it. Your wine selection is top notch! Your food is stunning, however your service is something that needs urgent attention. We would have come directly to you and told you however we were to busy paying our bill (leaving early because we couldn't get anyone's attention for a desert wine and cheese)

Beautiful place with some good tapas style bites. Coffee was great and so were the lamb croquettes. If you are hungry, recommend going for their large plates as the small portion is really small.

We enjoyed the food here, it was absolutely delicous and a great wine selection. We had a fabulous waitress, but felt let down when we went to pay a bone of the other staff were quite abrupt with us!

So nice, flash, pro as, my daughter said the waitress was so lovely at least twice, take a date there. We only order a snack (yum) and were served waters and cutlery etc. The best part was the service.

Very good selection of small platters which I enjoy enjoyed the most. Paella balls and chorizo sits on top of my list. They are open on Mondays unlike most of the other places in Taupo. Been here at least once in the last 12 weeks

Lovely ambience good food.

Food was amazing and the young waiter from USA was helpful and friendly. The experience was tainted however, the older wait staff who handled the bill was inappropriate and crude towards myself and friends.

Wonderful espresso martinis. The first waiter to come to us was great, the one we ended up with the rest of the time was a little abrupt & just ok. The oysters were pretty bad, weren't even shucked. Mussels were ok but don't compare to the sauce I had in Paihia. The rest was good.

Great place for a bite and a few drinks during the day or evening. They'll make you feel welcome and have a good drinks selection to choose from.

Beautiful restaurant and great cocktails. The French onions soup was a bowl of brown mess. Wish the chef would ask a french person to show him how to make an onion soup.

Came on Xmas Eve, without a booking, and thankfully they found a table for us. It was very busy, which is always a good sign. We ate from the tapas menu and had good bruschetta, croquettes, (excellent) garlic prawns, and portabello mushrooms with gorgonzola. The wine glasses are all a standard size, the size that can hold a full bottle of wine. They take some getting used to. Our server, an older gentleman, was excellent, courteous, and fun. Recommended.
