The best Turkish in the Bay of Plenty! Worth driving to Cherrywood just for it even if you live elsewhere in the Bay. Great service. Multiple team members always remember my regular order. Super speedy for takeaway and seated in restaurant. Cool vibes, great service, well priced and delicious food!

Group of 11 ate here for a birthday dinner Thursday 9/12/21, the service was on point, we were very well looked after, given the large corner table and not forgotten about at all. The food was amazing, we had a selection of their table menu and it did not disappoint. There was a steady stream of customers coming and going for the two hours we were there, so they are obviously very popular, it will now be our go to Turkish in Tauranga. We were very impressed, so thank you 🙏 We’ve eaten out a lot in the last few months and I’ve got to say everywhere we’ve been the service has been just awful, (Phoenix, Worlds End Pub as a couple examples) your lucky to be asked even once for a drink and not a single place has given decent table service, have not had any wait staff anywhere come back to offer more drinks without being called over and made to feel like your being a chore. Not at Cafe Istanbul, all the staff were very friendly and really made our night enjoyable.

Was never a fan of kebab so never tried many in NZ, was introduced by a friend saying it’s the best she’s tried in NZ. Was yummy and didn’t think much since I’ve nothing to compare it to. But have since tried other places and found it all horrible so now I know!!! Best kebab place and I can’t eat anywhere else anymore!

Delicious and genuine Turkish kai! This family owned and operated business specialises in getting good food to you quickly. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. On busy nights there is a large team of kitchen staff who work efficiently. Despite being so busy it only takes 3-4 mins between ordering and taking your first bite.

This is an amazing restaurant, and the family are beautiful, never disappointed, however, I will say that I was surprised tonight to discover that the pizzas have had a big price increase to $25 each, to be fair they are delicious but $25 seems a little steep, last time I had one a few months ago I am sure they were $16.

Wow, we just had really great kebabs (chicken and Adana). We especially loved the adana, a spicy chopped beef that's a real Turkish specialty. We made it even spicier by getting it with hot chili sauce as one of our toppings (garlic yogurt was another). Amazing! Note: the Adana is not on the printed menu but on the chalkboard "Grill" menu. If you like spicy beef, it's a must-try! Update: The mixed dips plate is wonderful!

Best turkish restaurant in Tauranga, if not in all of New Zealand! As a German I grew up with turkish food and for a long time I missed having a proper, original Kebab (all the other places just cant get it right!) But this place? They just do it like back home :-) Even better than the ones I had in Istanbul and that means a lot. We come here at least once a week to get our kebabs for work and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Pricewise its comparable with other places but with a way higher quality (everything is FRESH the instant it goes into your Kebab)

After doing all the activities around Mount Maunganui, you must be feeling hungry and tired. This is the best Turkish place with best food in town and they are quite generous in servings and best customer service. Highly recommended and reasonable in budget. For a family of four we had two Iskender servings with Grilled option on chalkboard and we were full and my taste buds 😋 are happy. Last day of 2020 and Happy new year 2021 🥳

We live 2 minutes from this restaurant. It is our 'go to' for a reasonably priced meal with friends and takeaway that is enjoyable and somewhat healthy. The small Iskinder's are actually 'large' and 'large' meals are for those with big appetites. It is a family owned restaurant and the service and food is consistently good. Great for a casual meal!

Dining in, we ordered two pizzas, fries, couple of beers, cokes for the kids and baklava because we were feeling extra boujee. Food came out super quick and as we sat eating our delicious meal we watched the queue get longer and longer until it reached the door! Very popular place among the locals and I can see why! We went on a very busy night at the start of January. The only downer was that we had to place our order at the counter, but this was presumably because their staff were fully focused on making the food and bringing it out to people. This focus seemed to pay off though, as we had our meals in front of us very quickly even though it was so very busy. Great food, good value, speedy service and nice staff. My culinary experience here was memorable and divine. I chose the Sultan's Favorite. Lamb stewed with vegetables served over mashed eggplant. It was so amazing. I don't know what or how they get eggplant to have that consistency but it is amazing. The lamb is tender and the flavors of the vegetables and the sauce are just so perfect.

Great place to eat! Not only do they have great Turkish food but also delicious pizzas and a variety of other foods at a good price. The staff are always very friendly. Great food, great value. Ordered a large donor kebab and got the largest "large" kebab I'd ever seen. It was like a kebab and a half, it was amazing. And it was only $14 which was a bargain. The have the usual lamb, chicken, falafel, mix, but also offer beef kofta which I can vouch is delicious. Definitely coming back here to try one of their kebab pizzas!

They are very busy on Friday and Saturday night. If you are trying to ring between 5.00pm till 7.00pm on Friday and Sunday they might not answer because it was a long line u front of the restaurant so try to avoid that time or expected delays.
