Visited here while travelling in Tauranga. Ordered their Spicy Tan Tan ramen, Kumamoto ramen (garlic oil) and miso ramen, as well as gyoza. All delicious. Broth for ramen were rich and tasty. Gyoza nicely pan-fried. I would definitely recommend if you love ramen and happen to be in town. I wish I could come back again to try.

Yummy and authentic japanese taste. Service is good as we were informed about the waiting time because it was crowded. Free flow of water available. Just a bit disappointment on the char shu a bit hard. I prefered the spicy tan tan noodle better.

What a find this place is! The ramen is the best we've ever had, and the gyoza is excellent, too. We enjoyed the spicy tantan ramen and one limited-time item: black vinegar ramen. Both were fabulous. Our next time in we had Tsuke-Men, which is cold ramen noodles that you dip in the accompanying warm sauce. Spectacular! We plan to come back here many times before we leave Tauranga.

This place never fails to amaze me! The food is delicious and totally authentic (have tried ramen in Japan). My favourite thing to get is the paitan ramen with soy and the pork Donburi on the side. Also the squid is really yummy. The staff are so friendly!

this traditional ramen shop tastes can even beat some ramen bowl in Auckland. I had soy chashu paitan ramen and my partner had the limited special ramen. Both broth are made with chicken and pork which is sooooo delicious. Chashu Pork is also great and authentic. And then, ramen was perfectly cooked to medium-hard which is my fav taste. would recommend this little gem to friends.

Nice restaurant, staff are friendly and helpful. Good selection in ramen and other Japanese options. Food tasted good, nothing amazing but worth the money. The gyoza and ramen noodles we're cooked perfectly. Just need more side options like garlic

Delicious ramen and I think this is one of the best I have in NZ. The soup base is not as thick as tonkotsu but it is still full of favor. Karaage chicken served hot and crispy.

A go-to place if you want some authentic Japanese food. Have such reasonable prices and can fill your tummy up! You can't go wrong with ramen especially in cold nights. Will always definitely come back to this place! Highly recommend. Not your typical restaurant as the place is rugged but that's just how it is, food matters!

The place was packed and busy on a Tuesday noon I went there for lunch. Waited for a couple of minutes, about 15-20 minutes for 2 ramens, chicken and dumplings. It was worth the wait as the food didn’t disappoint. Will definitely come back to this place again when I next visit Tauranga.

My friend brought me here when I was visiting as she was excited a decent ramen place had opened in Tauranga. The place played j-music, which I really like, and their menu focused mostly on the paitan variety of ramen. I got a Tokyo Soy ramen and the broth was light, not too salty and flavourful; the noodles soft but firm and had a great texture. I liked it so much I asked for kaedama. You pay and order first and the chef brings you your meal. The ramen is authentic and the staff are attentive and friendly. I wish this place well. I would definitely come again! Thanks Chidori!

What an incredible find! Probably the best bowl of ramen I’ve ever had. I got the miso one with pork and it was heaven in a bowl. Umami delight! The place was jammed and the two ladies working were running hard to keep up with demand. But the wait was most worthwhile as we were rewarded with a savory and satisfying meal.

If Authentic Japanese Ramen is your go in Tauranga NewZealand, than Chidori should be yr first stop to satisfy your hunger pains. The Broth and ramen itself is delicious and addictive so always plan your next visit and trust me you'll leave feeling more satisfied and full then with anything else. Tucked away between several shops on Davenport it would be easy to mistake the shop for an Op Shop and walk right past, That is untill you see the overflowing of customers inside waiting for thier meals. The place is very narrow and has a close quarter feel as the atmosphere is very tight on comforture don't expect to get you own table at times as sharing is a given. All in all if you can get past the shoulder to shoulder the food will never disappoint.

Felt like a night out and without any planning rocked up to this restaurant for a Thai meal. We were not disappointed. Greeted warmly and seated where we wanted to be. I have eaten here many times and always enjoy the food but it was spoilt by the long wait of about 45 minutes. Staff didn't seem to care and said they were very busy but the restaurant was only about a quarter full.

We had ramen combo, one with gyoza, another one with chashu don. They were both tasty, only gyōza was a little under cooked otherwise all yummy, and great value too. Kids friendly is another good point too.

We had our son and his lady home from the UK. We searched for a great Japanese restaurant and we surely found it. The food was top quality and deliciously hot. The menu is authentically Japanese and was well received by everyone in our party. Particularly worthy of note were the takoyaki balls and the squid. If there was any suggestion we might make it would be to reduce the amount of noodles in the ramen and increase the amount of the delicious broth. An excellent menu and dining experience all around.

Found this lovely little spot in Tauranga that serves up authentic japanese ramen. You have all the staples but there are a few new and different ramens to try that aren't otherwise that common in the ramen landscape. Not expecting to find a place like this in Tauranga but it's all becoming cosmopolitan innit. Check it out if you want a quick casual feed.

This place is amazing! The best ramen and Japanese sides. Karage Chicken and Takoyaki are our favourites! I love he Tokyo Soy Ramen and it has such simple flavours. The pork they serve is the softest meat I’ve ever eaten! Awesome fast service too! They always say goodbye to you as you leave. So lovely! The only negative I would mention is the decor, in certain tables, the fans cover the lights and create a blinking, which is annoying, but can’t fault the food!!!

OMG this is a must visit restaurant in Tauranga. The ramen is to die for and the dish is only $10!!! I honestly always think about this restaurant and probably eat here more than I should but then again it’s not exactly unhealthy anyway. This is a great little ramen shop, the only one of its kind in Tauranga at the moment. The ramen here is very tasty, and the prices are comparable to the bigger chains in Auckland like Tampopo and Daikoku Ramen. Their three main soup bases are shoyu, miso, and soy - which all taste excellent.
