Wonderful place to eat. Fantastic food and great wine selection. The staff staff really go out of their way to look after you. Totally recommend that you eat here. We had the venison.

Went to The Oxford today during a vintage shopping trip in South Canterbury. I had the crumbed sole with potato salad. It was delicious. They have a good sized wine list with some good choices - the Man O War Exile Pinot Gris did not disappoint. My friends had the Caesar Salad with chicken & the mushroom soup with homemade bread. Again delicious. Lovely atmosphere & staff. Would love to go back for dinner. Thanks team!

Pleasant friendly staff Delicious food Drinks a bit pricey

I usually tend to do positive reviews but I really wasn't impressed with this place. I ordered the salmon, I LOVE salmon, I mean come on! Anyways, the photo I took looks pretty good but the portion was tiny for the price, the skin was not descaled and I had a side of green olives with it, which had the pips still in them! They were hidden so it was hard to tell and I hurt my tooth on one. The olives were also extremely salty, and I'm a woman who loves salt, so that's saying a lot. The saving graces for a three star were that they refunded me for the olives and the sauce that came with the salmon was amazeballs. On another note, I definitely wouldn't take kids here, it was not kid friendly at all, aside from some colouring pictures...hey, they tried

Enjoyed their brekkie options. We stopped by this place from on our way back to Christchurch. The place has very good charm and vibes and the service is excellent If you are a vegan(like me) or a vegetarian, ask them for vegan/veggie option. It's not advertised but they could customise it for your dietary requirements. That goes for people who don't take pork either

Very good service and great food

We recently had our wedding dinner here, the decorations were great, the staff so friendly, the service was impeccable as always, fantastic Roast Beef dinner and great wine. Would highly recommend for a wedding dinner or a dinner in general. Great with the children, nice choice of food for them and always made to feel so welcome here ⭐️

I decided to have dinner here because It's rank no. 1 at Timaru at TripAdvisor. I ordered grilled ribeyes and my husband ordered pork sarloin。Both main courses are delicious. The waitress are so kind. Good choice.

Poor service maybe because the place was pretty busy the time we we're there. My steak was perfect and yummy. Good selection of beer.

Wonderful food, service and value for money. We went for lunch, dinner and the weekend brunch and every meal we had was exceptional. The chefs should be extremely proud of their hard work. Definitely the best food in New Zealand. The front of house staff were also efficient and friendly. Well done.

Fresh ingredients, fantastic flavours, I chose the pork sirloin with bacon leeks and cabbage with apple ketchup, and the best crackling I have had in quite awhile.

A lovely spot for lunch in Timaru, we were greeted by smiling staff with a backdrop of a large picture of the Caroline Bay carnival in the old days - wait, was that an iMac on a spectator's lap? We were shown to a sunny window table with super comfy chairs. One of the craft beers on tap was the Moa Pale Ale, which was just what I felt like.

One of the best restaurants in Timaru. Great atmosphere. Perfect for quick after work drinks, a delicious lunch or a romantic dinner. Seasonal dishes are a bonus for me as I love trying new things.

Just stopped in for coffee. Definitely the best flat whites we have found on our travels through Timaru. Menu looks lovely so next time we will have to stop in for dinner.

Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy some of the best food Timaru has. Wonderful mains and delicious desserts complimented with a excellent wine list. Add to this friendly staff who completely understand their wine they offer. We will be back.

Lovely meals, clean, spacious, friendly staff

Excellent food, wine, ambience and service. The venison carppacio was serbed with fennel, rocket and boysenberry, sunflower seeds and a jus. The mains were both superb for hungry travels. A great choice of wine. Ichose an Amisfielf dry reisling.

Couldn't say enough good things about this place!!! Easily the best breakfast I've eaten out, great service and good coffee. Will be back tomorrow!!! Happy tummies all around

The Oxford provides a relaxed dining experience with good food and great service. The portion sizes are adequate and the kitchen staff were more than happy to cater to a special request from our group. I could not fault this restaurant.

We just stopped in town for dinner and we were not dissapointed by this place! We ordered a ribeye steak and a sole fillet, which were both cooked to perfection! They have a great selection of beers on tap and wines along with delicious desserts. Also our waiter was super friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Definitely worth to visit!

8 of us went to dinner after a funeral in Timaru We tried 2 other places first but couldn't get in and man are we so pleased Everything about The Oxford was fantastic - not just one of us but the 8 of us rated the service - the wine - the food 10/10 Thank you so much we will be back and we are spreading the word We love good food and that was what we got YUM YUM YUM CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK

I really enjoy stopping in Timaru for a coffee, I am excited to say that this cafe could well become my regular. I was impressed by the humorous personality of the wait staff. The local police force were also popping in for a. Coffee so I felt very safe and secure. I was too relaxed to take any photos and almost missed my commitments later on the day due to overstaying !!!!

August 2018 - I was having a late lunch at this eatery on a Wednesday afternoon. The first time I dine in at this place, it is a restaurant cum bar on the ground of a 1925 building, which is situated on the corner of George Street and Stafford Street. They offer bistro dishes including steak & seafood. There is one entrance into this restaurant cum bar via George Street. I ordered a Prawn Green Curry Bowl where the rice 🍚 is on the bottom of the green curry while the prawns and bean sprouts on the top garnished with chopped spring onions. It also comes with fried crackers. The only let down of this dish was the rice as it became quite soggy and I prefer that the rice is to be served on the side [in a bowl]. This is a mild flavoured curry (sorry curry lovers, it is not a hot or spicy curry) and is flavoursome. It is not a thick but watery type curry. Generous amount of prawns given (last count was 8 pieces) and it was not overly cooked. They serve brunch, lunch and dinner which brunch and lunch menus overlapped from 11am while the dinner menu is totally different. The snacks and desserts are served all day! For those who have food allergies, the good news is that they are an allergy friendly restaurant and almost 70% of their menu can be served gluten-free. There are plenty of dishes to choose from this restaurant compared to other restaurants which only a limited number of dishes that can be served as gluten-free. This is a licensed eatery and you can order the drinks 🍻🍸🍷🍾🍹🍺. There is no outdoor dining area and there is a smoking 🚬 area in their outdoor courtyard next to the toilets. Street parking 🅿 only. Friendly staff with a good customer service. They accept cash, EFTPOS and credit card payments (yes, Paywave is available), for those who want to know. Would I go back? Maybe 😏 Would I recommend? Yes 😊 Food: ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. I enjoyed my dish. Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Nice and modern interior deco. Great atmosphere. Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐out of 5. The dishes and drinks are reasonably priced. It won’t break the bank.

The sophistication and quality of the food were top notch, and the service was excellent as well. Don't be fooled by this restaurant's unpretentious appearance.

Called in just for a coffee (which was great). People at other tables nearby were served large, appetising-looking portions, but for us, this was a look to see if it was as good as we'd been led to believe. On first impressions, it certainly was.

Great service from the whole team. The Wild Venison with Moroccan Cous Cous was next level followed by an amazing Creme Brulee with burnt white chocolate. Simply delicious.

Amazing service and food , every dish outstanding. Well recommended.

We went there for dessert after a show.They have a nice selection such as Elderflower jelly with raspberries and blueberries served with flamegrilled nectarine and greekstyle yogurt.it was delicious.for around $13:50.portion size was ample tho I could have eaten more as was so yummy.Also on offer were cherry and plum crumble served with custard and a lovely vanilla bean icecream.A lemony cheescake sundae.And more.l'm told their mains are good ..a lovely steak pie for example.worth a visit.

Had the fantastic wild venison main, the pomegranate just made it pop !!! We will deffinitly dine here again next time we visit Timaru.

Excellent meal, but don't order the French toast : 18 dollars for one slice of bred is quite disappointing!

12 in our group, some arrived later then some had to leave but were coming back to eat. All this was handled superbly by the staff.
