Yesterday we had a great experience at Amigos Wanaka. We were greeted by a lovely waiter who had us seated in no time. Our food options were huge and all sounded delicious. We opted for the bar choice drink in a jar and both had really decent sized meals. The meals were fresh, flavorsome and vibrant. Couldn't have asked for more and I can't wait to come back!

This was my favorite place from the start. The service from start to finish was awesome. The young lady was very inviting and lovely. The food was great. First time I've ever eaten prawns at all and the coconut prawn in the taco was great. My favorite was the mixed grill platter. Oh so tasty.

Outstanding service. The food was AMAZING, I ordered three different tacos that were all unique and full of flavour! Best one was the Queso Y Fresas (Paneer & pickled strawberries - wow!), but I also enjoyed the Falda Y Queso (Brisket, Cream cheese & jam) and the Jaca Y Cebollas (Jackfruit & Onion). The Jackfruit was a bit on the juicier side, which is nice but it‘s not quite the “pulled pork“ consistency that I usually associate with Jackfruit tacos. Drinks were strong and tasty, my boyfriend loved his Parilla Mixta (meat platter dish) as well! Would come back any time.

Fresh and fast. We didn’t have to wait too long once we ordered our food. It’s also super affordable! Great ambience and that staff are nice. We ordered the calamari and Fried chicken for starters to share and then ordered a few tacos, which were so flavoursome and affordable. The sour sangria is delicious!!

What a cool experience! The staff were accommodating and so helpful. The food was delicious! The decor and ambiance were really great. We noticed it was family friendly and a few tables were celebrating birthdays. The outdoor seating makes the most of the view of the mountains and hills you can only get Wanaka. Fabulous location.

Had the most amazing experience at Amigos! A friend of ours suggested we try this place out and we are so glad we did. Although it was really busy, the service was great and the food/drinks came quick! The team were enthusiastic and knowledgeable (especially when it came to dietary requirements). We've come down from Auckland to celebrate our anniversary and found Amigos .. I can not rave about this place enough. The margaritas were unreal... the food was so delicious and the staff are so lovely, they go the extra mile with the best attitude. We really appreciated it. This place was so good we drove back to Wanaka from Queenstown twice in a row during our stay. Thank you Amigos 😍🥰🙏

Excellent service, friendly staff. Soft tacos are the best and after having pulled pork, coconut prawns and duck, the duck came out on top. More substantial meals available, Mexican beers and the cocktails looked pretty good. 3 tacos were enough for me, a reasonably big eater, but I could have pushed 4! Nice setting with grass area out front and big tables down the back for larger groups.

We spent two nights in Wanaka and found Amigos on the first night, the quality of the food, and staff were amazing. Large portions and not expensive. Was so good we went back the following night. The best Mexican we have ever had.

It is recommended you make a booking at this restaurant. We were lucky to get a table it was so busy. Well worth it though, the food is amazing and the staff were fantastic ☺️

A but hit and miss, first day was excellent and the food was cooked perfectly. When we returned visit two days later the fried chicken entree was dry and overcooked by a long mile. Churros were also overcooked (twice the thickness of what you would expect them to be).

Visiting from Ashburton and all I can say is..WOW 😍 My partner and I have searched for an authentic Mexican place to eat at for 3 years now and have had no luck. We were so blown away by the amazing flavors and the atmosphere was just delightful. The gorgeous young lady that served us was polite, friendly and even helped me make my choice. Exactly the kind of customer service you want in a tourist town. Definitely will be back for more before heading back to Ashburton.

The staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful, the food was amazing and this could have been a 5 star review but a couple of hickups along the way lost them a star. First thing to note is that this was on NYE, so they were extremely busy. Both my partner and I were accidentally given incorrect dishes, his not vegan, mine not vege, staff quickly apologised and made up for it with a free round of drinks. The food, once corrected, was amazing. The other odd situation was the mens' bathroom, which I don't think was finished, as pictured. Would return again.

Definitely one of the best Mexican food I've had in New Zealand. The food is cooked to perfection. The sauces and accompaniments go well with the dishes. We had the chicken and pork tacos, and the wings. If you are a fan of spicy food, definitely try the Rattlesnake Wings. Added bonus: great view!

It's the best Tacos I'd tasted in NZ so far. Their own homemade sauces were excellent. Meant were extremely tender. Almost everything were cooked to perfection. Great music and nice place to chill out. Hospitality was great from the waiters was great. I had my meals there for 2 days in a row.

Delicious Mexican food, friendly staff, very nice atmosphere. Not cheap but definitely worth the price. You can get discounts if you're staying at some of the hotels/motels around. And they also do room service at the hotel. That's definitely a bonus!

Only thing I regretted was choosing a cocktail over the failsafe beer option. The Dark and stormy was pretty bad, all ice with some cheap rum and not much else. My partner's margarita was awesome and the food was really good. Fajitas, and the quesadilla were very tasty, chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection. I'd recommend going with beer for the safe drink option where you can't go wrong.

Seriously the best quesadillas at this place!! We ordered them vegetarian and they were still so good. I also had the fried chicken taco which was delicious & flavourful. My friend ordered the veg. mushroom taco on special she said was also delish. If we didn't have to leave the next morning we probably would have been back the next day for lunch. Very knowledgeable staff and the interior design is super cute with a Mexican flare. A little pricey is the reason why I knocked it down from a 5 star review.

Had a great burrito and tacos lunch here and got talking to the very helpful and interesting barman. He explained they have over 60 different tequilas and one of the biggest selections in NZ. I love Amigos. They have a great selection of tacos that are really well priced. If you're not in the mood for tacos they have plenty of other options to satisfy most tastes. It's a popular place, so make sure to book especially if you have a group bigger than four people.

Staff are awesome, the manager I believe looked after us all evening from behind the bar. He made us personalised cocktails and generally made our experience light hearted and fun. Food is always fantastic and there is a great range of gluten free items. Yay!

We ended up in town dinner time, after the Roy's Peak walk. No much open and no much decent choice around. Then, we pass by this restaurant and we went in. The environment was so welcoming that we decided to have dinner here. What restaurant often lack of in New Zealand is their own identity, but not for this one. Ooof... I'm not a fan of Mexican food generally (can't handle my spice) but something about this place intrigued me. Ended up getting some sharing food (chicken sides, Patatas Bravas, Tacos and quesadillas) and my good, they were all perfect! Everything came with plenty of different dips and it all tasted fantastic, prices ended up being really reasonable and portion sizes were fantastic. The place was pretty busy but we were seated really quickly however, there was quite a long wait for food (but TOTALLY worth it)!

Really delicious food (everything we ordered), friendly, fast service, good value, great margaritas and even your own sombrero to wear. Great place for lunch after walking by the lake. The staff had a great knowledge of the menu. Good gluten free choices, they recommend what you can have and can make amendments so your meal is suited to your allergy. Good for vegetarians/vegans too.

Overall food was interesting but the flavours simplistic; for the quality it was overpriced by ~10%. Staff were very friendly and helpful, though services was infrequent; appeared understaffed for the Saturday crowd. Music was at a good volume; more soft furnishing would reduce the ambient noise which was loud. Tall tables uncomfortable as you could not fit your legs beneath; causing everyone to slouch and twist their body. Overall would recommend; some extra attention to detail would greatly improve the experience.

Quite good mexican food. We had fajitas and tacos. Not overly complex, which is occasionally a good thing in my experience. They have a gluten-free/dietary restriction menu, but not a dedicated fryer, so no chips for me. The tortillas were fresh enough to make up for that though! Definitely recommend having the chili lemonade. It will knock your socks off.

My wife and I ate at this restaurant tonight and enjoyed it all, by different i mean that the food was served differently than we have had before, my enchilada was served all separately meat and cheese oven baked in a dish, salad on the side and soft tortilla on the side, but with this take on it I enjoyed it all. We had nachos first and it was served differently but once again very nice. We are from Australia so maybe this is the way Mexican food is served in NZ where as Aus is served as it is in Mexico. Overall a very good experience and nothing to stop us ever going back if we are in Wanaka. Also the margaritas were very good.

The best mexican food I've ever had. I used to eat out there regulary for a month, and every single meal was unique. Hard to describe the likeability of the food: Whenever I would come back to NZ for a visit, I would definitely make a D-tour to Amigos in Wanaka.

Highly recommended! The Fish Taco is amazing, followed by the Chicken Taco. The brownie is also one of the best I've ever had! Two of us shared 5 tacos, a bowl of chips and guac, and a brownie and that was enough... although I could have easily gutsed another 3 tacos myself as they were so dam good! Make sure you book in advance as it gets really busy. We also had the lamb, steak, and pulled pork tacos which were nowhere near as good as the fish and chicken. I must add this is the first fish taco I've ever had (as I've always thought it's weird and wouldn't taste good), only got it because the guy at the ski shop said it was good.
