A delightful pace to eat at. Large seating area inside and outside tables as well. We went inside as it was a but chilly today. Quick table service, we both got seafood chowder which is a personal favorite for us both generally. The serving came in a small serving bowl which it did state in the menu that it was small but the chowder itself was packed with seafood and quite thick. I personally prefer a creamy chowder but I was pleasantly surprised at this combination of tastes. I enjoyed it immensely, also the nice slices of bread that came with it. Nice pot of tea to wash it down. Very reasonable pricing. On the lakefront roadside close to parking spots.

We shared a small plate of crunchy chicken with aioli and a large plate fish of the day. Each dish was delicious, multilayered flavors, beautifully cooked vegetables with fish of the day. I had pomegranate sorbet with freeze dried mandarin, my partner had double chocolate chocolate mousse and strawberries. Each was delicious and serving size was just right. Plenty of gluten free options for me. Prices were very reasonable for quality and serving size. Helpful wait staff.

We've been eating at Relishes for more than 30 years. When holidaying in Wanaka, Relishes has always been our go-to for a special dinner. Tonight's dinner was absolutely delicious. It's a very flexible menu of small and large plates. The $6 desserts are an inspired idea. Our friendly server told us that these desserts are available all day.

Excellent service, coffee and food. A very filling breakfast sufficient to skip lunch. Only a minor suggestion and that is the cooked breakfast should be served with a steak knife, it's a bit hard to cut through ciabatta toast or bacon with a butter knife. Place was crazy busy so we didn't want to bother the staff. Otherwise, just brilliant.

Nice coffee! We had flat white and long black. Both were good. My fritters were quite nice with green beans, avocado, and assorted greens. Big breakfast plate was okay. Two bread slices were served but they were soaked into oil from the egg. It would've been nice if they were served separately.

We dined at Relishes Cafe on Ardmore Street in Wanaka and had a better than expected dinner here. Opening hours are 7.30am to 10.30pm daily. Seating area is casual and nice. We liked the decor, fireplace and overall cozy feel to the place. Service was friendly and attentive during our meal. Menu is a typical range of NZ dishes. We enjoyed the bowl of NZ style chowder as well as our mains. The glazed and smoked salmon was grilled nicely and served on a bed of pea mint and feta risotto. The fillet was fresh and tasted very good, it went well with the risotto. For our other main, we enjoyed the duck confit served with butternut puree and a candied walnut salad. This was a pretty good duck leg, similarly complemented well by the salad side. Both mains were really good, worth reordering. In the end, we left a bit surprised how much we enjoyed our dinner at Relishes. Had hopes for a good dinner, expectations were surpassed on the evening. We'd definitely eat here again during future trips to Wanaka.

Wonderful cafe. Great options for vegetarians and meat eaters and we tried a little of both styles (duck, polenta, seafood stew, vegetarian pasta, and soup of the day). The chef and pastry chef are doing great work here with creative offerings that are well prepared and balanced with flavors. The service is excellent as well. It's a homey little place with a fireplace that was lit in winter. We enjoyed our meals and the price was fair.

Tl;dr - Great taste, price, service, and atmosphere, well recommended! Came in for breakfast, and had the cooked breakfast. It was a perfect portion size, and absolutely delicious; the 'hidden relish' was delicious and complimented the flavours of everything on the plate well. Everything tasted fresh and the cafe atmosphere was fantastic. Seating was a challenge and we (party of 2) sat at the end of a long table with another couple. We weren't the only couple to do this, and quickly became comfortable with the social neighbour of talking with the other couple. As an experience this is totally different from the UK style of waiting for any table, and we loved it! Table service with free tap water in a bottle, brought to the table as soon as we sat down was a nice touch. Great Cafe, would definitely come again if we were staying longer in Wanaka.

Very good vegetarian and Vegan food, the 2 meat eaters in our group enjoyed their meals aswell. Pictured is the goats cheese entree which was perfect for the size of meal I felt like and the cinnamon donut dessert was outstanding!. Wine Kombucha and tea was all good, and service great. We have found the standard of food in Wanaka to be very high and have had good meals everywhere we have been.

Good environment. Staff was very friendly and the food was reasonably cheap for what you get. Although a minor portion of the food wasn’t up to temperature, the taste of the food made up for it. Make sure you get one of the delicious cinnamon scrolls in the bainmarie near the counter :)

We came here after skiing Treble cone for an early supper before a very late dinner with friends. The food was really tasty. However, the wait staff were lacking - we waited about 20 minutes to order and had very little attention given to us, despite the cafe not being busy. We would have stayed for a drink / coffee / slice after our meal but none were offered and our plates were hurried away. When we went to pay the wait staff acted as though we interrupted their personal conversation which was odd.

It's a good choice for a light and delicious lunch meal. The serving sizes here are, however, a little on the small size, especially for the cost.

Our favorite dinner in NZ! I got the daily fish special and my husband got the ribeye. Both were absolutely wonderful. The service was fantastic. We didnt have a reservation and set at a shared table. We could not have been happier. Please do not skip dessert. I had the chocolate tart and my husband ordered the donuts. Both were amazing!

The cafe title in the name doesn’t do this place justice. It’s so much more than a cafe especially at dinner time. Main meals demonstrate a maturity of food knowledge and an understanding of flavours. Highly recommend. Not your typical pub food. Warm fire inside. Start with dessert first! The menu is large and the choices are hard. Our risotto wasn’t quite cooked properly. We reported this and they dealt with it immediately. They offered us a free dessert but were so full from our mains that we didn’t take them up on it. Just the thought was nice though. It showed a care and concern that many places seem to lack these days. Waitress was professional but not invasive, overpowering or annoying. Will definitely be back again.

Came here just before 9pm for dinner, thinking that they were open until 10:30pm (as it says on maps). It turns out that the kitchen closes at 9pm but they continue to serve drinks & dessert for a bit longer (~9:30 or 10pm). That said, the service was still quite friendly and the food was alright. The salt & pepper calamari was perfectly prepared. The clam risotto was tasty so long as you included the bits of bacon in each bite (bland otherwise), but unfortunately the larger clams were slightly overcooked. For dessert the chocolate mousse was quite chocolate and yummy.

We ordered Relishes cooked breakfast and cashew nut cream mushroom for breakfast. And two large mochas Staff is very friendly and quick, so kudos. We didnt have to fish for them to place the order even when the place was busy they made sure they are present when a customer needs them. Breakfast was AMAZING! Cashew nut cream mushroom is such a pleasant surprise, the maple smoked coconut flakes are marvellous and all the ingredients of this dish go so well together. Must go and must try place! Relishes breakfast with fried eggs was again very good, excellent sausage. Potato cake is nothing special, but i would say given the size and taste of this dish you can ignore the potatoes and still give it a 5 star. Coffee is average.

Had breakfast with my wife at Relishes. Unfortunately not what I had hoped. Service somewhat dismissive as waiter distracted by friends. Egg nenne okay but swamped with raw cold spinach. My wife's eggs also okay but we left a little disappointed. Normally we hear Relishes café is reallly good, so maybe just one of those days.

What a delight to be back in Wanaka enjoying the views and equally delicious food. Relishes has always been a go to for me when I'm in town and it never fails to satisfy. I feel the need to stand up for Relishes against Arad Drukers appalling review seeing as though I sat next to them during breakfast service and watched the chef cook 4 meals for said dissatisfied party as they kept on changing their minds - which only saw this couple pay for 1 meal. As a former hospitality employee this type of behaviour coupled with the ability to troll establishments as a silent reviewer irritates me to no end. Do yourself a favour and get yourself to Relishes to enjoy delicious home cooked style food.

Came here for late lunch and waited 40 mins for food. The place seemed popular but during the busy holiday period, they clearly did not have enough staff and the staff available were overworked obviously getting tired from the same questions. The drinks came reasonably quickly but the food took so long that we had to ask. We ordered the chowder and when it did come, there was a film on top indicating that it had been out for a while. The soup was good but the poke bowl was overly salty. The menu was not extensive during lunch and the staff overstretched which made it an average experience.

Relishes Cafe in Wanaka offers breakfast dishes and a limited lunch menu. The daily special soup, cucumber and dill plus was very tasty and the seafood chowder was rich with fish and seafood in a creamy tomato base. The perfect set-up for the long winding drive to Haast in the rain.

This has been my favourite Cafe since my first visit to Wanaka in !997.The staff are always patient, friendly, happy, and courteous. The food is excellent and consistent with a good selection of wines. I am hard to please!!

Excellent Coffee! Relishes is an interesting mix of cafe / restaurant but our favourite for a morning coffee - especially in winter before heading up the mountain for a ski. Popular with the locals it's a nice spot to linger a little in the morning if you have the time - with seating inside (by the fire) or outside in the sunshine. If you don't have time to linger pop in for your takeaway while the rest of the family is next door at Racers Edge getting their ski gear sorted or arranging their heli-ski with HMH :)

I have never clean a full breakfast plate until today. At first glance, I thought well...the potato hash is not crispy and the ingredients seemed generic. But under the scrambled eggs there was this pile of beautifully caramelized onion which lighted up the whole dish. I have never thought such simple "relish" could be a game changer for me. For most Asians, travelling in places where you can't find bottled chilli in most restaurants is a torture but this relish indeed relishes my cold morning in Wanaka, definitely didnt need any touch of chilli sauce for my breakfast :D
