Had lunch here twice during our stay in Wanaka. Good views of the lakefront, the buttermilk chicken burger is tasty. Also had a pumpkin and feta salad very nice. BUT the lemon and pepper squid is the BEST!!! Its a MUST HAVE!!! Squid was cooked perfectly on both occassions we ordered it :)

Best place to go on a Friday night nibbles and beers went down great and filled our bellies after a long day of work and travelling , fast and friendly service from the team . Thank you so much ! Def recommend and will def be back on our next trip

We stopped here for dinner & the team were amazing we had a very nice lady serve us she recommended the glutenfree pizza for me & I have to say it was absolutely fantastic I would hardly recommend this restaurant.

When in Wanaka we always eat here. Friendly staff, great service, good food at a reasonable price. Even when it's busy we've never had to wait long. There's a lot to like about this place. It's our local.

We had a great evening at the Water Bar. They accommodated our group of 8 with no notice. Service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious. Laura went next level with her service to the kids in our group. She made them gorgeous mocktails and they felt totally special. We will definitely come back here and happily recommend it to all to enjoy. Thanks

Shout-out to water bar for serving us the most delicious fish tacos in NZ! My friend also loved the lamb shank which was really tender. Perfect view of the lake from the restaurant. 😍 The lady staff who served us was also really professional!

Amazing staff. Had a Janet complain about us speaking too loudly but staff handeled it amazing! They tried their best to keep them happy but some people can't be reasoned with. 10/10 would be loud again

We visited for.lunch at 12:30 Tuesday and it was pretty quiet. I assume its more a bar than a restaurant. But I did enjoyed the chicken burger. Will come back!

We went on a Sunday night and feasted on far too many $5 tacos 🌮 😋. The service, food and ambience are spot on but it’d be really nice to be able to to sit outside and enjoy the meal in the late evening warmth but that’s not possible as a non smoker. The food and service deserved 5 stars but the fact we had to sit inside on a stiflingly hot night was not cool.

Best bar in Wanaka! The burgers are fantastic and better than Ferg in QTN. Cold beer with plenty on tap. The staff is super friendly and service is fast but not intrusive. We had calamari and burgers and will be back for the Fries! Awesome.

Went there in Nov 2019 before the pandemic began. Loved the serice, ambience, food and drinks in the heart of Wanaka Town. Will love to revisit the place when I come back to Wanaka again. Highly recommended!

Well it is a pub so if you’re going there just for a meal I’m sure there are better options. That being said I had no issues with the staff - as mentioned in recent reviews - and the food was good and reasonably priced (I had chicken tacos). I can see it as a great place to go with your mates to have a pint and some chips but for lunch or meals you could be better off somewhere else.

Best brisket Burger ever!!!

Came here on a Tuesday $10 pizza all day. Great value. They have other specials for other days of the week. The view out the front is great.

2 visits on this day, first one to get a few starters and later to have a main course. Both times were excellent, if we were staying longer we may well have visited again on another day.

We visited here on a Monday night March 2021 when burgers were $10. Has to be the best value burger in Wanaka. I wondered if they would skimp on the fillings because of the price but they were enormous and tasty. French fries were great - chunky and not greasy. Service was good, it wasn't busy but we were glad we went there. Definitely a "must visit"

Nice bar, staff very friendly, had Pepperoni pizza and Jalapeno poppers, awesome, added bonus, $11 Guinness 👏

While the bar was busy, we were served by a very competent barman and his off sider. All quite pleasant. Seats outdoors were perfect with a lake view thrown in. Thanks

Best food I have had not at home for a long time. Went for the crumbled cali with the blue cheese sauce thing. The salmon fried with crispy skin. The guy at the bar made a cracker jack spiced tomato juice. I would return and give other menu items a crack.

Great service Meal really was outstanding for price, brisket salad, thoroughly enjoyed. Special mention, halloumi Sticks were best tasting and cooked I have had in NZ and US and the Jalapeño poppers were awesome also. Compliments to chef and staff well done

Family dinner at Water Bar tonight, awesome service and food. We were a table of allergies and the waitress was really on to it and conscientious. The food was fast and delicious. The staff were friendly and happy. Good work!

We went in right on happy hour (very busy and pretty much full) asking for a table for 9 with a highchair and got amazing service and they fitted us all in with no issues. The wait staff were so awesome especially cause we had 3 kids and a baby. The meals were so tasty and came out super quick especially for a busy Friday night. It was our last night in Wanaka and finished on a high. We'll be back when we come down again.

Food was great, service was fabulous, such a shame we only in town for short time , would recommend this place for some good old fashioned hospitality. Perfect for early evening sitting in the sun.

Got the Thursday Steak Special with fries, salad and choice of sauce. We asked for medium-rare and it was on point. Awesome! Fries were delicious as well. Really pleased we stopped here for dinner. My only critique was that it took some time to get our meals.

Really surprised at how good the food was here. I ended up having gorgeous wedges and a beef burger. The beef party by itself wasn't amazing but everything in the burger was just right. The service was fantastic as well, I asked for sauces and was a little indecisive, so the waiter brought me three different types of sauce... Very appreciative! Would definitely recommend this place.

Waterbar is a pretty good spot in Wanaka. Right on the waterfront with a nice view. Pretty good bistro type food and loads of beer to choose from. A couple of pool tables, a nice open fire and live music if you time your run right. Definitely a good spot to go and would recommend it to everyone.

Great atmosphere. Awesome bar staff. Well priced beverages with around 12 on tap. Large area with pool tables and accommodations for projectors for main sport entertainment. Highly recommend the Briskett Burger and Beer Batter Fries with full complement.

Really enjoyed our meal here last night. Service was great, my pumpkin and feta salad with chicken was filling and satisfying. My husband's $20 steak meal was a good size and delicious.

Great food, but had drunken stag night guys there, very loud and a lot of breakages happening. Definitely will go again but not thru the evenings due to the younger patrons getting drunk etc

The food was delicious, but front of house staff were inclined to ignore waving hands trying to get attention. I was told to go wait at my seat and I would be served. No one came. So I ordered at bar. It wasnt busy, but tables were left uncleared, at least 15 minutes after people left. I work in hospitality, so I think a little training needs to be given about communicating and talking with customers. My opinion only.

Great service but prices are sneaking up

Loved it! Enjoyed the $10 pizza (with a purchased drink). I don't think I've ever eaten an entire pizza whilst out, normally I leave a few pieces but this was so delicious that I had to finish it all. The gin was nicely priced. And the staff were lovely.

Went for lunch here while on holiday. I got the tacos and my husband had the steak. His steak didn't come out the way he had asked so we told a staff and he instantly apologized and brought back a perfect steak a few minutes later. What can I say! Service at its best! Good job ☺

Wings and Ribs nights are epic and the pool tourney is free to enter, though there's some pretty good players. Deals to be had on drinks on a Friday too and considering beers in Wanaka are generally overpriced, it's a welcome change.

Great salads and Burgers and craft beers on tap. The Waffles got massive thumbs up from the teenagers. The service was super friendly and efficient.

Went there for a early dinner, have to find a table yourselves and order your meals or drinks at the bar. You can't expect the high-quality service as a restaurant offers. The food was good. It is a bar with about 10 different beers on tap and all kinds of other drinks and spirits, because most of the customers during my meal were for drinks. Will come back just for the drinks.

Not particularly busy on a Sunday lunchtime. Perfectly good place to eat. Not fantastic, but polite helpful staff so not a long wait. A bit soul-less. Blankets if you want to sit outside when it's cold. 'Happy Hous' cheap drinks all day Sunday I think. Varied food, good quality. OK.

Chicken wings on special Wednesday. They were huge and tasty. Jugs also cheap as it was happy hour.

Okay let’s talk about how mind blowing our meal at water bar was tonight. Whistles were wet at happy hour believe me... boundary road nectar on tap brought out to us immediately by the friendliest most trustworthy face I’ve seen in the South Island. A gentle breeze blows. The lake itself - breathtaking. Tunes cranking. The chicken wings with blue cheese such succulent specimens. The beef burger 🍔 changed my life for the better, a hard day for my old bones soothed by a beetroot chutney and pickle moistening my bun. The sun sets over the mountains and dark clouds make love in the final Seconds Of Sunlight. Mouth watering food and service... If you are in Wanaka and seeking an outer body experience, I only have two words of advice for you. Water Bar.

Food was fantastic. We went on a Tuesday when they had half price on small plates special so hot to try different things.

enjoyed lunch on last day in Wanaka. Waiting staff were good. Not a great menu selection but enjoyed tapas.

Prices were a bit high and food not exceptional and portions were quite small. Our dessert was a cold brownie with a little bit of cream for $9... Service was good though and the waitress ran after us in the street to give me my sunglasses that I had left on the table, that was really nice of her!

The 2 others i was with thoroughly enjoyed their steaks, naming them the best they have ever had. I had lamb shanks which were beautiful, however it came with creamy mash, that was actually the most lumpy mash ive ever had, they got replaced and were again extremely lumpy, size of my thumb nail lumps. The waitress was absolutely fantastic. I did receive my meal for free. I was disappointed that the chefs excuse was.... "it goes through a sieve and i follow the receipe" ....yeah right, the sieve must have had massive holes in it lol

Delicious pepperoni pizza and chips were to die for! Warm and cozy place with great service.

After walking up and down the street to find a casual place to have a feed and a beer. We decided to come back to the water bar. We are glad we did, the staff were more than helpful and also gave us directions on what to do in Wanaka without spending a fortune. We'll be back for sure. Cheers Water Bar

Wanaka water bar has an amazing view over Lake Wanaka during the day. At night the bar provides reasonably priced drinks and games of pool with some loud music playing. Much more a club than a pub. Often the busiest place in Wanaka town. Worth a visit.

Nice place right opposite the beach. It’s much bigger on the inside and there’s live music on weekends if I am not wrong. Great views of Lake Wanaka if you are sitting outside. It’s a short distance away from the Wanaka tree so fill up your tummy either before or after. Free parking for 2 hours in front at the beach but it tends to get really crowded so be prepared to wait.

Great meals, did forgot 2 meals but did give us 2 free drinks and were very apologetic. I would go back again.

I visited Wanaka 2 years ago and came here for happy hour a few times, now it is under new management it is a lovely thriving place my self and my family came in for the quiz night on Tuesday although we failed miserably at the quiz we enjoyed the food (light snacks) and drinks it was a good laugh. will be back. (also try the jalapeno poppers)

Wet day. Popped in by accident for shelter. Had lunch, rib eye steak with the most exquisite mushroom sauce n fries. 10/10 for the meal and the lovely service recieved.

The mushroom and halloumi burger was delicious. So was the Salt and pepper Calamari

Pretty average bar to drink, not a bad selection of beers on tap. I went from the bar to get dinner and came back, was refused entry because I didn't have my passport (I'm Australian and 35)...bit of a joke...will doubt if I go back

Wednesday night $1 wings. Two words, be careful. I'm not sure what sort of eugenics new Zealand has used on its chickens but the selective breeding has lead to wings the size of wheel hubs on the Mazda premacy. Ignorant of this we ordered 10 of the bad boys each, choosing to have them hot. Well blow me away and throw me at the talons of a kea bird but I reckon the waitress may need a chirpiractor after delivering those wings to us. She should have had assistance because the total load must surely have been over 17 kg. I did six wings, maybe seven, before I became a mumbling mess. I had to go to the bathroom and stare at myself in the mirror to try and ground me back to reality, I was completely mind shattered by those wings. Had I done only seven? The wings were tasty but they had destroyed my ability to count. We had poutine side which looked and smelt good but my stomach curdled at the idea of more food. People around us offered sympathy and patted me on the top of the head once or twice each. It must be a local thing. The beer was good, service great, and the noise just sufficient to get long term hearing damage. Would go again, in fact we did the following Wednesday

A brilliant find, a lively and fun bar with excellent food, top class pub grub (try the steak!) and great local and international music. Defo a must if you visit Wanaka me and my girlfriend will be back .
