This would be our 3rd visit together as a 3-some as it's usually 4 of us. Lil sis, mum and I enjoyed our lovely starters of twister prawns followed by our lovely main meal of steak, chicken, and burger meal with lovely salad and hot chips. The service also so good as usual, considering the many diners in at the time... See you next time and thanks again for always such a great meal and likewise service. PS Wow I had to take a pic of the cool art work in the ladies. No, I never had any alcohol(not that day!)! 😁😊😁 🍴👏👏👏

Came here recently with work (Dec 2021). Oh my gosh the food here is delish. I had the Mrs Claus xmas breast and the cheesecake which was lemon flavoured. I was full, and didn't finish the dessert. Staff are awesome too. You can park on Countdown carpark, and walk over, and show your Covid pass at the door. You need a mask to enter but not while at the table. I'll definitely be back.

Went for brunch. My bench mark for any brunch place is are their poached eggs runny. 1841 served the best poached eggs I've ever had. The Island Bay pork sausage yummy. Crispy hash browns. Bacon and tomatoes. Even the bread is worth a mention all yummy. One of the best points is portion size not too small, not too big just right. Highly recommended.

If you're going to live in a suburb with limited pub grub dining options then it's a relief that it's this one. Our regular haunt and usually greeted by really friendly staff, happy to try and make space for you (even when it's busy and you haven't made a booking) - with only the occasional unimpressed server who gets a little moody at you when it's busy. The menu is solid, with slight changes just enough to keep it interesting but lots of old favourites and comfort foods too.

An excellent bar and bistro located in central Johnsonville. The 1841 provides a wide selection of beers, wine, spirits and ciders. The food menu is much better than most Wellington pub meals. The front line 1841 staff provide a helpful and friendly ambiance.

Nice place to eat lunch. The steak sammie is amazing. Cooked perfectly and came with toasted bread, letuce, slices of tomato, chips, and caramelised onion. The staff and service are great.

My flatmate suggested 1841 last week and it was bigger than we expected. Booked a reservation in advance, was very crowded at first around 7:30pm but we got a lovely peaceful place in the corner, cleared out soon after 8:20pm. It was my first time @1841, enjoyed with my partner and Mondays being 2 4 1, yayyyyy lucky us!! Great ambience, cozy, closer to home, Awesome food for reasonable prices n Friendly staff. Enjoyed Petherick crispy Pork, Bangers & Mash with yummy Apple & Blueberry Pie. Surely recommend it and will visit again with friends next time. Great work Team 👍🏼. Aloha

Haven't eaten at 1841 for many years but met with friends last night. OMG the best pork belly meal I have had and my husband loved his fish and chips, very generous portions too. The taste of my meal was literally to die for! The front line staff are so friendly and attentive and the decor and ambience of the 1841 now is such that I will be keeping it in mind to bring my friends who will visit soon (when borders open) from overseas. Keep up the great work guys you have an awesome establishment here to be proud of :-)

Family night out with food and a quiz night to boot. Food was good, service was great, quizzing too. Will book in a week early next time to get a normal table rather than a "high" table. We had lamb burgers, the ribs, the pork dish and the shank pie, and the corn chips and calamari starters.

The girls went out for brunch at 1841. It was my first time, I really had a good time. The ambience and mood was for both going out for dinner with family or hanging out with friends or just grab a drink. We ordered from the brunch menu. I had the chicken filo and cheese with salad. They gave me two filos, which was pretty filling and nice. It costed around $18, which was decent. I had a good time and will be back for more.

Well. You need to BOOK days/months ahead for a table. The food is awesome. You go in starving. You leave with a full belly. Staff are happy place is clean. Yes kids are allowed. The service we received from two ladies was excellent and a much needed experience as the whole day, everyone me and my boyfriend encountered were so rude, so it was a breath of fresh air to finally receive great hospitality. We had the 400g steak and boy was it delicious and cooked perfectly, that's what we call a real juicy steak. We finished our perfect evening with brownie and ice cream for dessert and it was equally splendid! Thank you so much 1841 team for a wonderful dining experience.

We were a group of 8. My lamb/veg pie was delicious. Unfortunately my husband's ribs were a bit tough, but I must say there were plenty of them and we took half home and cooked slowly for hour or so and they were perfect

Well presented meals. Staff were friendly but not the most professional. Tasted very yummy. Also got breads and dip but should warn people that they are giving them a full loaf of bread and that they will have to cut it themselves and make a big mess. Also was warned that mains would be a 45 minute as was busy so should order a starter... very good marketing strategy but should really sort their timings out. Overall would only recommend going there if you have a spare 2+ hours...

We went on Monday 2 4 1 Night. Great steak with nice chunky wedges and the best coleslaw i have had out in a while. Really enjoyed my meal. Hot and tasty. Quick to fix a problem with one of our parties meal. Only down side is we rung to book a table as we struggle to sit on high stools. Staff member didnt want to book us a table when we called - telling us to chance it - on such a busy night I get that but also couldnt shift us to a low table on request. Some tables were booked and sat empty for some time. Maybe a no booking policy on these nights with a better management system could achieve better results. Friendly staff and yummy food so Ill be back even if i have to persevere with a stool. Might even come try 1852 too.

The pub is very nice. I like the sports on the screens there everywhere. We had our work xmas shout there. The meals like my 400g steak was absolutely delicious. We were earlier at arriving than expected, this didn't worry the staff who had our table of six prepared and waiting. Got on well straight away with the waitress who had a few laughs with us. I enjoyed my steak cooked medium rare so tender and juicy. Had lemon meringue for dessert so filling. My meal was worth every penny. Not bad, as such, but below average. Lots of little things add up that detracted from our lunch: bland food, order not being quite correct, not being offered water, having to sit outside because it smells a bit funny inside. The upsides are the staff are friendly, the service quick, they have a couple of vegetarian options, and the prices reasonable. I wouldn't hurry back, but I wouldn't avoid it either.

Great service, a warm friendly local vibe. Good food and drink. Venue is divided into multiple indoor zones, so good for sport watching, or as restaurant or cafe (kids menus and activity packs too). Even has pokies (if your thing) but well tucked away so doesn't detract from family atmosphere.

I ordered medium rare 200g steak, and it arrived bleeding all over my mash. I should have sent it back but we were in a hurry so I ate it. It was really raw in the middle. This place usually does great steak - it's normally a 4. Next time, I will just send the food back or do medium steak but I love my steak pink! If you have a big group, they can cater well if you book ahead. It's still one of my favourite local places to eat at.

Went for a fund raising quiz night run by the Lions and the Pub. Great evening with about 500 people. The1841 crew have it down to fine art. The good is really good Pub good. If you want to do a fundraiser they are the people to talk to, you will have to hurry as they are booked out until August. Great place for special functions as they also have an upstairs venue. Birthdays etc.

Busy bustlin resto in Johnsonville. Easy to get to and lots of parking. Service is ok.. staff are friendly but the resto is busy and they tend to forget stuff you ask for or forgets to check up on you. Food is above average. Nice place to take the fam for a dinner out.

I was pretty impressed with the food and service at this restaurant. The portion size is good value for money. We ordered the porterhouse steak and the lamb, both of which were complimented with a decent amount of salad. I’d only recommend that they change their cleaning product from Ajax to some earth-friendly purpose cleaner instead. I was inhaling the awful Ajax for a good half hour after they had wiped down the table after the previous customers.

Steak night Tuesday and a pub quiz on the same night. A very busy night indeed, there was a wait time on the food, however the way that the staff maintained there focus on delivering excellent customer experiences was OUTSTANDING! What a great team of staff. I never felt forgotten, and they still managed to maintain a very high standard of service. Well done :) Oh and the steak was so tasty and cooked just right, the garlic butter dripping over the steak and the chips makes me drool every time I think about it, the decent portion of delicious coleslaw providing a nice balance.. and a FREE drink!?!??! perfect evening five stars.

The food is above average and quite delish but my salt and pepper calamari was too salty. The pork belly was cooked to perfection with gorgeous crispy skin but what let it down was the little lumps in the mashed potato. This is our family's local. We go here about once a month for a meal and are never disappointed. It's your typical pub food, large portions, steak, ribs, burgers etc. Super value for money, no doubt about it. There's quite often food left on our plates, not from dissatisfaction, but from being too full to finish.

Tonight we visited a place we remembered had great food and was friendly. We weren’t disappointed we were met by a Security man who smiled and welcomed us to 1841 and opening the door for us. We had not booked and it was quite full. The waitress led us to a table giving us the menu, then she asked if we’d like to hear the specials. I stayed with my choice from Menu,Daisy Lamb salad, my husband changed and ordered the Roast chicken. Neither of us were disappointed the meals were generous and delicious. We accompanied these with drinks mine generous glass of Merlot my husband equally generous glass of Monteith. Surroundings very pleasant and great live music, not too loud. Totally recommend 1841 Bar and Restaurant.

Lastly there was the rude duty manager, who was noticed a number in the group. So yea not a great advertisement for what a place I had previously enjoyed.

As with previous visits, we come here for a late lunch with the family, around 2pm. At this time there is not many customers, which suits our party of adults, kids, grand-kids just fine. The service is fast, everyone enjoyed their meals and I always order the 'Fish of the Day'. The bag of things to do handed out to the grand-kids certainly makes the lunch time experience manageable. Like most sports bars, there's TV screens showing various games but at that time you don't really notice them.

Place was packed, went in on a Monday and were told they had a two for one mains menu, probably explained crowd? Fan on table 69 was annoying, were told it can't turned down, a few people at near by tables asked if it could be turned down but response was no, so some requested to be reseated. Service was quick and professional. Note there is an outdoor eating area downstairs and parking out back. Atmosphere was fairly relaxed, a few locals / regulars. I enjoyed the rifle range bangers and mash. I would recommend this place and would go back again just avoid table 69. Had I not been near the fan I would have given 4 stars the fact that other tables asked about the fan, supposedly for health and safety reasons it had to run. I didn't make a reservation so I assume the table is at last resort, at least they checked and at that stage it was available.

On the website it reads (under Daily Deals): "TWO FOR ONE - The perfect Mondayitis cure is here! Buy one main meal and get your second main meal of equal or lesser value FREE, from 5pm. Special conditions apply." A friend of ours who was really hungry wanted to order two mains but was denied doing such as the 'special conditions apply' was, that you could only purchase one main meal per person under the 2-4-1 menu. Even if he had purchased another main separately "you can't, sorry" was the reply. Marketing was a bit misleading for the Monday - and the whole situation was confusing despite asking for better clarification from our waitress (poor thing having 6 professionals cross-examining her). Just be aware if you happen to be going there on a Monday night ravenous for a double helping of something. Still go because the food and atmosphere are lovely.
