Reviews of Mr Go's
F.
Great place to discover new dishes from their monthly specials exploring a different city's/country's Starter, main and/or dessert.
Worth mentioning... Their BAO Buns are a MUST!
k.
Absolute fan of Mr Go' s . The food is amazing 😍😍😍
Highely recommend the cream cheese wontons & the drinks are very cool
Also the chicken bao buns
Nice decor , clean, fast and friendly service
E.
Delicious plates and cocktails, friendly waitstaff. Wait for a table was quite long, but we were happy sitting at the bar with a drink until one freed up. Some interesting new flavours and fusions. Some food is quite spicy (good for our group!) but if you are sensitive to spice, it might pay to check with the waiter before ordering.
N.
What a delicious food. A great place for pan asian food in Wellington. Really tasty. Please do not miss it. Have it, enjoy it.
Fast service, friendly staff.
M.
Mr Go's continues to be the Go to for any catch up with friends, family, or just a great meal out in the city!
Great selection of food, portion sizes, drink options, and always friendly staff!
We will be back!
L.
Stunning food, well presented and tasty.
Fast and friendly service. Really creative menu.
Booking recommended, as they are super packed daily!
C.
Impromptu visit but definitely worth it. Friendly and helpful service, gave great advice on how to navigate the menu and order appropriately. Food was delicious, fusion style, great balanced flavors and diverse menu. In-house made sodas also available for non-alcoholic options. They had a good beer and cocktail list available too but didn't indulge this time. Would definitely reccomend and go back again!
J.
Delicious food and good service. We had an early dinner at 5pm and were seated straight away. Definitely gets busy fast. There is food specials before 6pm and bao of the week at half price. Such a great price for the quality of food and all free range meat. Highly recommend
J.
Staff is good, interior looks pretty awesome. The menu is pretty decent which you can have a plenty of choice from a light meal to a full one. Plating looks ok, tasting a bit underwhelm for me but the Bao is absolutely a must try for this restaurant. Come back is a yes. Highly recommend.
V.
Fantastic food and service! Tried this place for the first time and it was just so damn good! Their lemongrass cooler is 👌👌. Can't wait to come back to wellington again just to try other dishes at this beautiful place!
T.
Delicious food, a number of vegan and vegetarian options, and friendly staff
B.
Great selection of small sharing plates at reasonable prices
S.
This place was so good and by far the most popular in downtown Wellington for a Sunday! We looked around for 40 minutes until finding this place and were so glad we did. Even though they were busy and we didn’t have reservations, they seated us right away.
We ordered the cream cheese wontons (YAS please!!!), a fried chicken bao, loaded kimchi fries, and the Indian Pani puri bites. All of them were *absolutely* amazing, with the exception of the kimchi friends which were just a bit lacking for my taste. The rest of the dishes sounded creative and amazing as well- you can’t go wrong!
For cocktails we had the ping pong and the ginger-ita- both were unique and flavorful!
Service was also surprisingly fast as all tables were full and it’s a fairly big restaurant! They definitely have their stuff together- I would love to come back and try everything. Definitely recommend!
R.
Wonderful food as always, everything on the menu is worth trying. I had the Kung pao cauliflower and Yuzu Cheesecake - delicious. Well staffed, very attentive, and fast service. Exceptional value for money. Its my Go To place.
M.
Superb food. Great selection on the menu. Staff were friendly and helpful. The popcorn chicken was the pick of what we had but it was all really good. Will definitely be returning.
G.
Enjoyed their asian fusion food. I liked their menu, small dishes kind of bites. I ordered Veg Fried rice, Aallu tikki, Chicken bao bun and Popcorn chicken (Not a big fan of Popcorn).
It was worth the visit.
F.
Needed an early dinner before most places open, so went to Mr Go's and boy I am glad I did. Great service. Great cocktails. But the food, was next level delicious, such amazing flavours. So good I came back again the next night rather than risk trying anywhere else. No regrets.
J.
Nice place to get some Asian fusion food.
S.
First visit to Mr Go, for lunch. Staff are very welcoming and were helpful.
There were 5 of us, 4 of us had chicken bao's and then ordered a dish each to share. Food was very nice but for lunch we needed maybe one or two more dishes as the dishes were quite small.
R.
Loved it here. My friend took me here, staff was more than happy to talk me through the menu. Food was delicious. So many different flavours. Thank you for the experience. Surely Come Back again
K.
Very enjoyable and our first time. Will definitely go again. My son is vegan and I love my meats so it worked well for us both.
Great service and fast delivery of food.
s.
Great vibe, retro decor, big restaurant with many tables not particularly spacious. Only has one high chair. Dishes are small need at least 2 per average person. Asian fusion, includes Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Taiwanese. Nice none alcoholic cocktails but small glass. I recommend.
N.
Tasty food, excellent cocktails, efficient friendly staff. An interesting menu full of too many tempting things for just one person to try. The buns are amazingly soft and tasty.
However the lost star is because the portions came as a small surprise after ordering one of the “large” plates. I think it would be best to advise customers that it’s not the usual one dish per person affair and more of “order as much as you can fit on the table” because we were a little confused.
Worth it though. We only wish we had more money to spare to try all the dishes.
A.
This place offers small plates intended for sharing. We ordered the beef Bao, vegetable dumplings, Kung Pao cauliflower, and Pani Puri. The cauliflower was the best thing we had and was very good. The rest was just average and the dumplings were subpar and not even served hot. The service was very good and attentive but honestly the food disappointed based off the other reviews. O
J.
We got the chicken bao, fried cauliflower, Korean wings and popcorn chicken. Absolutely delicious. Amazing customer service. I also order the prayers of the soulless, which was really good, sweet and tasty.
L.
Loved their Burger Wellington entry! Also enjoyed the Kung pao cauliflower and fried chicken gua bao - the bao was so light and pillowy. Felt rather confused by the mince and cheese potstickers - pie in a dumpling?? Very creative but the aged cheddar was a little overpowering for my liking. Overall great food though with 10/10 service and I love the hawker vibe!
R.
It’s so helpful having a foody daughter in the family - especially when it comes to leaving it up to her to choose a spot for dinner. We end up at Mr Go’s, who is apparently a fairly new kid on the block of Asian Fusion/street food. At just after 7:00pm on a Tuesday night, the place is pumping pretty hard, but after a few minutes, a table leaves, creating an opening for us.
Recommendations include any of the Bao Buns, which are a medium size, and taste bloody marvellous!!! We had the chicken, classic pork and pork belly - oh so good!!!
Followed up with Korean fried chicken wings, cream cheese wontons and Spinach chaat. Great flavours and textures abound, and I can highly recommend any of these dishes - they are all quite exceptional!
2 beers, a Prosecco, plus the food for 3, comes to $94.50, and leaves plenty of room for an indulgent dessert elsewhere.
A.
Bit on the pricey sidebut throughly deserved and enjoyed...Loved the cocktails..thats why why it was expensive.Staff absolutely awesome very friendly andwelcoming
T.
Nice fresh cooked food but small portions , was hoping for some noodle dishes though. Pretty limited menu and this place is a bit pretentious with 'share meals' and craft beers. Stop trying to be so trendy.
H.
We come here often and are never disappointed. Favourite dish has to be the popcorn chicken, they do fried food very well.
T.
Delicious tapas sharing dishes full of flavour. Friendly staff. Quick service. Highly recommend
D.
The food was so yum and the staff are so gentle. I'll visit Mr Go's again asap :)
a.
Amazing....this has been one of my fave stops in New Zealand so far. Everything was full of flavor and the perfect serving size, and the staff was super! Shout-out to the dude from Belfast.
P.
Awesome experience & amazing food. Don't listen to dem 1⭐ or 2⭐⭐ reviews. They wouldn't know good food if it was thrown at them. Phil award for best Asian food in Wellington
D.
I really liked this Asian fusion place. It has a sharing plates style menu. It has lots of options for various dietary needs / choices and it all has great flavor. Popular place so don't rely on getting a table if you haven't made a booking.
P.
Absolutely delectable food! I went there with a girlfriend and the service was 5 stars, the food was 5 stars and the affordability was 5 stars! A beautiful selection of food, I would highly recommend you give this place a try!
w.
Fantastic food. Lunch wasnt so busy unlike dinner. Service was extremely fast and friendly. Highly recommend the hot rocket prawns, they were so good!
P.
Skylar literally saved my life, that sauce with the shoestring string fries was hella spicy, like dang I was DYING. The legend Skylar came to my rescue with the best Wattie's tomato sauce I've ever had. Thank you so much man, you deserve a raise
G.
There’s a lot to be said for good tasty food served without fuss in a comfortable environment. If I had to choose a favourite it would be the cauliflower. You can book (probably a good idea) we didn’t know we could. This is what it looks like when you’re finished.
A.
Some delicious in house sodas, pork and chicken bau buns are great. We went in covid level 2 so lots of space and not to noisy but previous visit pre covid were always great friendly and full of energy.
M.
Simply amazing!....... the food, the experience and the cocktails...... we were recommended this place and it absolutely smashed the expectations. Great job guys
J.
Great service, great menu, yummy food. Excellent option for a group get together or for a quick lunch. Thanks for the diverse menu.
M.
Very very cool and casual place! The bao of the day is remarkable. But I prefer the pork belly. The menu is fun and there are some cool things on it. Kimchi infused fries and pop corn chicken are crowd favs. A must try!
A.
Delicious food here, with plenty of bold flavours. Menu is arranged on the concept of sharing plates, so a little bit like Tapas but with Asian flavours. The food is good value and super fresh. If you order by 6.00 you can order a number of specials including a bao of day for 6.00, which is terrific value. There is a full bar and they have several craft beers on tap. A really great place to eat. Be prepared to wait later in the week as it was full tonight (Wednesday). But worth the wait!
A.
Excellent bao! But I wouldn't recommend the tofu (it's a bit lazy, flavour wise: just pickled ginger and a tonne of sweet chilli sauce). They have some decent specials if you can get your order in before 6.
m.
Loved the service. Food was amazing. Pork belly is to die for. Would definitely come back again 👍👍
P.
Great experience. Amazing food, super tasty....smaller plates if food, but all delicious. For the average kiwi it's hard to get head round small plates of food to have as 'dinner but can't complain about flavour, taste and variety....next time, more plates, less sharing....wait staff were good but turnaround for drinks and food was on the slow side. Super busy tho, and food was amazing. Super good value and couldn't fault the food. Defo go back for more....😊😊😊👍👍👍
M.
A fantastic place to taste test multiple food plates and beverages.
The service is great with an ambience that matches the variety in dishes on offer!
A mix of bookings and walk-ins helps secure a table and allow still casual diners to this popular Wellington eatery!
Having seconds here is an easy choice once you have had the first few orders to start. Somehow, you find room for one or two more dishes! Recommend!!🙂
P.
Really good venue. Has a great vibe inside and the food was excellent. We ordered a bao bun each (they're bigger than normal bao's so one each should be enough) and shared pork dumplings and Indian fried chicken
P.
Went for a friend's birthday dinner on a Tuesday night and it was fairly busy. However, our waiter was very attentive and made sure all of the dishes I had ordered did not contain any foods I am allergic to which I really appreciated. Would definitely come back again :)
C.
The BEST bao buns, great place to share food and try a bunch of new flavours. Cute shark cup was a bonus!!
J.
Definitely going back to this place when in Welly next. The food was brilliant.
M.
We walked in and Nick was super helpful is putting us on the wait-list. He called us when a table opened up sooner than scheduled. The food and drink were really nice but the service was what will keep us coming back :)
V.
They never fail to meet my expectations! Also, it's one of the few places in Wellington that stays open and cooks between 3-6 PM - thank you guys!
T.
Lots of nice dishes to share! Tasty and good service. Would definitely return
D.
We had our Christmas work lunch here. I wasn't a fan of the food. I ordered the pork fried rice which was ok but too spicy, and we weren't given an option of 'mild medium or hot'. My partner ordered the steak, which was ok. The pineapple express, I was told, was really good.
M.
Beautiful food, great ambiance and the service was top notch. Would recommend 👌
S.
Busy restaurant would imply great food with great service - I couldn’t see what all the fuss was about. Service was good apart from the condescending nature of how to order food from the menu, alas for the layman would have been a knowledgeable experience. Food was a let down as the mixture of flavour on all dishes was confused and lacking umami taste - acid and salt being most prominent.
E.
This place is next level. So good. Unassuming from the front but the moment you walk in it's all go with the A grade customer service. The food is perfecto. Pork belly bao and goat kebabs a definite favourite.
M.
Fast Fresh and Delightful! Great service, always pre-book for groups. Some walk in tables but usually will still have to wait! It’s worth it! Good food and service all round! Recommended Wellington Eats!
H.
Very popular eatery with slick, speedy and effective service, amazing dishes and well stocked bar. We arrived during happy hour which was a welcome surprise. Recommend a reservation as it's very popular.
A.
A ton of variety. The bao's are a must if you check which ones are half price
Á.
Fast service, friendly staff and great daily offers. It is usually crowded and a bit expensive, but have quite unique plates, especially the latest "Kiwi China Burger" with pickeled kiwifruit.
K.
First came to Mr Go's on Tuesday 20th April and was impressed by everything - the food, service and the staff where I left a more than generous tip for the experience. My revisit on Wednesday 28th was like I'd gone through a wormhole. Food was still good but the service was non existent. I recommended Mr Go's with the group I was with, which unfortunately fell well short of service delivery. Hoping this improves.
E.
Amazing food, reasonably priced, great service
L.
Really great food. Always such a treat. Shout out to the pani puri, the charred cabbage and the hotteok pancake which is the best dessert ever! Only slightly disappointing dish was the pork katsu bao which needs a bit of balance with some lemon or chilli. Cocktails and service good. Double vision red rascal beer delicious.
R.
Just amazing! Very accommodating and friendly staff. Food was to die for. Highly recommend
C.
Delicious flavours. Best bao I've ever had and the cream cheese wontons just sumptuous. Lovely friendly staff made this first time visit hope that I get to come here again and try some more wonderful food next time I'm in Wellington. Highly recommend.
D.
Lovely staff, primo service, amazing drinks and incredible food!
H.
Fantastic. We ate at the bar because the place was packed, the service was excellent and the food perfect.
P.
Food wasn’t flavourful enough for me, and with a high price. Have had good and bad experiences here so it might depend on when you go if you get a good meal or not. Cool decor and vibe but the food was a miss for me this time.
A.
Amazing food and staff. Great atmosphere too
M.
MG says they serve fusion, hawker street food on a premise which has some Asian decor. The limited menu offers a mish-mash of finger foods that is supposed to reflect various Asian cuisines with a large part dedicated to Taiwanese buns with light "Asian" fillings.
Other items on the menu were just snacks or entrees; you would need to order quite a few of these as portions are small (but not prices!). It would be prohibitive to feed a family of even four, here.
The main meals section did not actually offer anything substantial or even Asian! The mushroom and bean curd dish came out in a tiny bowl, did not taste remotely hawker-ish or even Asian and was very expensive given the Lilliputian size!
The layout of MG was awkward as the entrance-aisle split the room into two with laptop systems dominating the centre, making the LHS cramped. The physical discord and the noise unfortunately made MG less than relaxing. When we left we adjourned to another restaurant with comfy seating for a proper meal this time.
Fusion foods if done properly can taste very good. Frankly the only fusion here is the one in "Confusion": Re the Restaurant's Identity and the Cuisine (find Nemo!). As for the staff they were doing their best to keep MG's owners happy by providing quick and courteous service and this has been factored into our rating.
C.
Extra stars for service and their participation in Everybody Eats. Perhaps we just didn't know what to order but the items we did order were average. I have a feeling if it had been in the middle of a rush, the food quality may have been better. The pork fried rice had a fishy flavour. The dumpling meat was far too dense and the sauce was basically hot soy sauce which left something to be desired for my taste buds. The guo bao bun was great but the pork belly was overcooked making it hard and dry. The beef bao bun tasted mainly of mayo and kimchee.
I had big hopes for this place and for my first meal of the day, usually my taste buds are forgiving but this meal wasn't worth going back to find out if dinner rush is better.
J.
Great atmosphere the best wait staff. Share plates get passed around so fast and we always order too much food as it is all so delicious .
A.
We had a takeaway order. The lady was kind enough to advice us of some options we were curious about ( even tho we are seasoned Mr Gos patrons). This girl was profess and even informed us, without us needing ask her, how long our wait would be. Side note. This is the first place myself and my partner had dinner together and we frequent a lot. Thanks for your amazing food for creating love. Xx fave restaurant in welly. Amazing....this has been one of my fave stops in New Zealand so far. Everything was full of flavor and the perfect serving size, and the staff was super! Shout-out to the dude from Belfast.
K.
Lovely food & service. Our server was really helpful with advice on the menu. The Mango cheesecake was amazing. Would definitely go again.
T.
Amazing food, great service. Definitely would recommend 👌
M.
Mr Go's is our go to restaurant when we have different family visiting from out of town. All of the staff are cute and friendly, all of the food is delicious and it's a great happy environment to be in.
N.
Haven’t been here in a while but man I’m so glad I visited again . Food was amazing as per normal, the Indian pani puri and the popcorn tofu were favourites of course . Glad there were tons of vegetarian options . Took my parents who were in town from christchurch who absolutely loved the food and great to be able to share .
Service was super professional gives we were in level 2 covid alert .
Hope to be back soon
E.
A great variation of tasty Asian fusion dishes.
Well priced, vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff.
J.
Super tasty and for such a crazy busy spot the service was incredible. Seriously you've got to really the crew and get in here to try EVERYTHING
m.
Delicious meal. Tasty and varied. One dish was considered too spicy by a couple of our diners but I loved them all.
Cool cocktails too.
P.
Absolutely loved the Assamese prawns .. vada pav.. Korean wings.. woww
T.
A touching story sets the background to Mr Go's in name, philosophy, and sustainable, market-inspired menu. Equally good for groups or couples, with fast, fresh Asian-fusion options. Make sure you get down to Mr Go's when it reopens after EQ strengthening later this month! 😍
L.
Very popular restaurant. A varied and plentiful selection on menu. Fitted us in and quick service to enable us to go onto a play.
C.
Mr Go's is awesome! Vegans, take note of their great offerings. Popcorn tofu, wontons, pancake, pani puri - all amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful, it is a great place to eat.
E.

What an incredible little hot spot this is. With a taste sensation in all the meals we had and shared it was a great spot on our trip to Wellington recently. Glad we made a booking as the queues were quite long when we left. Great food. Great menu, something for everyone. Pleasantly surprised and definitely going back.
M.
It's easy to see why this place is always so busy! Interesting menu with a good variety. Couldn't fault the food quality. The black ink dumplings were awesome! Among the most attentive and natural service I've experienced in Wellington.
T.
Good and delicious food..but price is on high side
R.
I've been here a few times now. The food is always delicious. We rocked in with only 30 mins to get in and out, the place was pretty full so we expected a sorry we can't deliver on that. Instead, the staff were awesome and talked to the chef told us which food came out the fastest and which to avoid ordering if we wanted to make our show. Great customer service and they have ensured that we will be back...with more time on our hands to eat more of their amazing food.
C.
We came here for lunch.
Delicious food with good service
J.
Korean fried chicken - good
French fries - okay
Spring onion - okay
Looking forward to trying other items on the menu
J.
May2021: Lunch date
Dumplings, Grandpa Shark Cocktail.
E.
We absolutely love Mr. Go’s - the bao’s are delicious and ever changing. Also they always have great specials (bring back the cheeseburger spring rolls 🤤) including a fab ginger cookie matcha sandwich. The staff is super friendly and great vibes. 10/10 recommend 🙌
R.
i personally think this place is very expensive for small portions of food, but i came in with only my partner before and we ordered couple of dishes but it almost cost us $100 for such small bites. we ended up going to other place to get food.
i would say this place is better for big groups or if you want to have nibbles and drinks. :)
S.
On a visit to Wellington while in a lower leg cast, and on crutches and a knee scooter, I ended up stuck in the CBD and needed to find a place for dinner. The people I asked all recommended Mr Go's. It was really busy but they found a place for me and my brother who ended up coming to have dinner with me. The food was great. The service was great. The prices were reasonable. I can see why it's so popular and will be going back next time I'm in Wellington.
S.
Lovely food and helpful staff. Maybe when booking they could inform that we would b sitting on high seats. This did not suit us as one of our party had injuries and we weren't allowed to move to a table and chairs
R.
Exciting casual dining at Mr Go's with heaps of interesting menu options. We dined as a group and ordered a selection of things to share including baos, pork fried rice, and cream cheese dumplings. We were undecided whether the cream cheese dumplings were good or not, but worth a try as quite different. Overall the food was delicious and came quickly. Service is welcoming and friendly. The only drawback was that our drinks and water came out verry slowly so we had finished half our food before we had a drink.
N.
Love Mr Go’s! Always recommend this place and take visitors here. You can’t go wrong with the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and the pork belly gao bao. Decent menu size with enough options for everyone without overwhelming you. Great range of options for those with vegan or gluten free needs. Restaurant is always packed, so definitely worth reserving a table beforehand unless you don’t mind waiting.
B.
Amazing food. Great service. Find it's best to get three or four smaller things each and share them for a good experience and range of food choices
C.
I went there last year and loved it, great food, well prepared, lots of vege/vegan/meat options, would've given it 5/5 then. But this time was very underwhelming and most of our plates weren't seasoned. Hopefully it was just an off day with the chefs. Will still go again.
M.
The place was so busy so we got take out which was fine. We got several different dishes and they all tasted really good. They were Asian dishes with their own twist. I enjoyed the wontons and beef kebabs the most. I did think a few of the dishes were a little pricey for the portion size. But staff were friendly and food was tasty.
R.
Friendly staff and really delicious menu
D.
Outstanding hawker-style food. I've been recommending it to anyone who'll listen. Can't wait to go back.
I think it's best with a group of 4 or more because this allows you to order a wider variety of dishes, however 2-3 still works well. Reservations allowed for minimum of 4 people but make sure you turn up on time as it's extremely popular and you could lose your place and have to join the queue
D.
First time here. We ordered heaps of tapas between two of us. The dumplings, loaded fries, chicken wings, popcorn chicken and a pork belly bao each all were great and came to $42 each. Good food, good price, food came quickly. Would definitely go again
R.
Been here 3 times now. Every time the food and service was excellent!!! Still have a few menu items to try out, but the spinach Chaat is fantastic as are the mince and cheese dumplings. The go bau's are a fantastic take on a burger/sandwich and the milk buns are so light they melt in your mouth. I'll definitely be coming back again.
E.
We went there today (Thursday) for a late lunch. It was quiet so service was immediate. Our server was nice but the bartender today was awesome! He has great customer service skills. I had the Kiwi China burger that was part of Wellington On A Plate & my friend had the fish bao burger & fries. It was so yummy! The buns are amazing & I loved the kiwifruit in the burger it all worked very well. I left with a full belly and a smile on my face. The non alcoholic cocktail we had was delicious (lemongrass) & I would recommend that. Will definitely be back.
C.
Fantastic food. Frie y vibe. Roast cauliflower is made of awesome.
E.
Great food, great cocktails. Love taking my vegan and veggie friends here, there's something for everyone to share among the little plates of deliciousness.
I.
Service was fast and efficient. Staff were switched on friendly and helpful. Food was delicious there were 5 of us we ate everything and had room for dessert which too was delicious.
4.
Used to rate Mr. Go's, however - I find that the dining experience has declined dramatically in recent times. Pork Belly Bao (which used to be my favourite) now has a chewy bit of pork belly and an absurd quantity of hoisin sauce. Also need a pair of hearing aids after being in there. Ears are still ringing!!!
A.
Excellent and friendly service and delicious food 😊.
G.
Excellent food at great prices. Pork belly bau and fish cakes were perfect for lunch
M.
Love this place! It's very busy, full of life and cheer - a testament to the quality of food and drink! The baos are delicious, and the side dishes are amazing - I'd suggest the sticky wings ;) enjoy!
H.
Good selection of buns and sides and drinks and other nibbles. They have 6 dollars daily special before 6pm. Good for groups. Vibrant atmosphere. I think you can also find their food truck at Moore Wilson (?) supermarket nearby. Good service, although it can get busy during peak hours.
B.
🎶Wake me up before you go to Mr go go's.🎶
Mr Go's is a wonderful little place that embodies the wellington food and drink culture. The fun menu is full of great options, perfect for sharing (or not!) in a lovely blend of modern and classic Asian dishes. The prices are good, and service is fast. Would recommend going early as it's very popular and they do not take bookings for small groups, so pop in early, have a drink, and prepare yourself for a taste extravaganza! The bao buns are my personal favourite, give the tofu one a try, I don't even like tofu and it was epic.
M.
Great service, great food and great prices! Their baos are large and the buns so soft. Really loved the spring onion pancake
J.
I love Mr Go's, always great food with a tasty fusion twist. Service is normally good when I visit Mr Go's, but was a bit slow today - it was quieter than usual but still took about 30 mins to be asked to place our food order from arrival. Great cocktails and food quality, would recommend planning to go to another bar afterwards if wanting to spend time in town as there is a 1hr45min limit for this Saturday night dinner. Understandable considering popularity, though inconvenient if catching up with a friend.
Definitely recommend trying - very popular, recommend booking in advance.

Food is awesome, really bloody good! Nice fun environment to enjoy your meal and staff are friendly. Can get busy between 6-7pm so might want to book. Happy hours are great value and find out what the special offer is also great value!
L.
Delicious food and cocktails! Would recommend getting a bao each plus some share plates (especially the kung pao cauliflower and tofu popcorn!)
C.
Great 21st birthday spot. Generous servings. Suitable for vegetarian and non-vegetarian combined groups.
B.
Amazing food with amazing flavours. Love how there's so many options for vegetarians. There's also lots of deals if you go within a certain time, like $6 bao buns (whichever ones on special).
D.
We had a great night at mr. Go’s celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday . The food was the best I had in Wellington. I recommend their dumplings and cauliflower. So many vegan and vegetarian options. We brought our own cake and they agreed to serve it with a small charge. We were 4 people and had 2 drinks each and 8 meals and paid 50 nzd each which wasn’t bad at all. The staff is extremely friendly. Totally recommended.
R.
My new favourite in wellington. This place deserves more than 5 stars for their food and service. This is my first dine out experience in level2 post lockdown and I really appreciate the staff of Mr.Go’s , specially Emma for great service with all the level2 restrictions in place.
D.
Awesome place, they were super busy and still made room for us. Food was fantastic, staff are really friendly and helpful. So if you like spicy foods then this is the place for you.
C.
Amazing food. Everything on their menu is tasty and service is quick. Best to book as it gets busy most nights and it's not a huge restaurant. Atmosphere is relaxed and the drinks menu has a good range.
J.
This place is crazy popular so maybe we just got bad luck. None of the food was standout, just- ok. One of our cocktails was perfect, the other was terrible and they took 30 mins to arrive.
p.
The menu has some great options and flavour combinations, but it’s really expensive for what you get. Each dish is a small, share-style plate. We were told by the waitress that it’s recommended to get 2-3 dishes per person, and at $10-$15 per dish this adds up really fast. Would love to come again but the pricing makes it unlikely we’ll be able to come back.
M.
Drinks and food are both delicious. We had the popcorn chicken, cream cheese wontons, and the chicken bao. Drinks we had:
- Punchy the Panda punch (deliciousness that's served in a cute panda ceramic cup, what's not to love?)
- Dr. Mango (tastes almost like an alcoholic mango lassi)
- Young, Rum, and Sour (the first sip hits a bit sour but it's smooth sailing from there!)
Service was great! Music was great!
P.
Been to Mr Go a few times and always liked it a lot. It's great with a group if you can order more stuff and share. *Mince filled dumplings* were very innovative and worked out beautiful, I'll order them again. It can get quite loud there, a friend of mine can only go shortly after they open when it's a bit quieter.
K.
Terrific place. Can't beat the popcorn chicken, and the lemonades are so good.
R.
Great lunch spot. Delicious food, beer and really friendly service!
A.
The food at Mr Go's is always of a high standard. I've ordered something different each time I've been and I have always left there satisfied and glad of the experience. The staff are great, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu which is a huge draw card for me.
N.
Wow place. We tried almost all options from the menu and they were so yummy. HIGHLY recommended.
J.
It lived up to the hype - I’ve been told to go here for the last year and a bit and hadn’t had a chance. Well it should have been higher on my list because the Bao are excellent, the Kung po cauliflower is great and the cocktails are banging with flavour!
It’s a popular place so try and book if you don’t want to be disappointed. We managed to do a walk in on a Friday night but I think we got lucky.
M.
This is a fantastic eatery with a really delicious and varied selection of Malaysian food.
Not a hint of pretension from the very helpful staff despite the popularity and position it occupies.
Great selection from the bar and big thumbs up for their takeaway in earth friendly containers and man sized napkins.
Treat yourself.
G.
Mr Go's is a great place to go for blended Asian quisine with a mix of Korean, Indian, Taiwanese and other Asian dishes. The prices and food portions are about perfect. Great selection of alcohol and excellent service
J.
LOVE Mr Gos. Great food, staff (a couple who really stand out, must get their names) and for those who have dietary requirements they have a special menu and go out of their way to accommodate. Have recommended many times. It's now my GO to restaurant. #delicious
D.
Fun shared dining experience with a great variety of dishes designed for splitting so you can try a bit of everything on the table. Particularly enjoyed the saucy bok choy, spring rolls and dumplings. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere has a casual street-eats vibe, with buzzing crowds even on a weeknight.
C.
Really nice friendly staff, the food was good. make sure to ask for any specials. Thank you to the young man (Logan) who was a great help in ordering!
J.
Focusing on Asian street/hawker food, Mr Go's is a great example of how this style of food should be offered in Wellington. The selection is wide, the options really tasty, the service surprisingly quick, and the staff helpful and friendly.
We had two types of Bao (pulled pork and pork belly - both excellent), kum pow cauliflower (yum) and popcorn chicken (get in my belly), plus a couple of other dishes that probably pushed us over the "that was a bit too much food now that I've finished everything" line.
We're definitely going back for a repeat visit.
D.
This place is incredible. Words cannot describe how amazing this food is!! The Asian fusion style tapas left me and my fiance wanting more - so much that we had to get a second round of food because it was so good!! Highlights were the cream cheese wontons, the baos, and the popcorn chicken. The dipping sauce for the fries was also amazing - tasted like roasted red pepper aioli. We will definitely be back.
i.
Everybody in our group thoroughly enjoyed the different dishes. Definitely the best pan asisn food we have had we will be back.🤩
L.
Been here several times. The food is just superb and staff always friendly. Usually quite busy and reservations are recommended for dinner. Even at the busiest times the service is fast and you rarely have to wait long to start getting your food.
S.
Brilliant. Food is exactly what they say, modern asian. All very yum with interesting flavour combinations. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and dealt with odd requests with a smile.
A must try for Wellington (a city with so many excellent food places)
M.
It's good food and a reasonable price. Pretty busy at lunch times so get in early or book a table if there's more than two of you. The only reason it isn't getting a five star rating is it's pretty loud in there, could use some acoustic deadening.
C.
Very friendly staff. Very yummy!
C.
Busy and full of life and bustle. Asian fusion kind of sums up the menu, with. Big bowls of kimchi shoe string fries kind of says it all. Lots of small tasties ideal for sharing is the vibe. Probably not a destination for the single diner. Slightly more expensive than market stall fare tho. Our table were all vegetarian and piscaterians, and we were all well catered for. There wasn't a dud dish in our selection.
L.
Interesting. . not really much on the menu that interested me and I do like lots of different food. Didn't enjoy my meal that much, the deconstructed lamb "wraps". The service was good though, Magnus was great.
J.
Good food and lots of variety. They have a lot of interesting and unique fusion creations!
C.
Great Asians fusion restaurant. Offers delicious sharing plates and great local beer. Can be a little noisy though so might be a bit tough for conversation if you're hard of hearing. Would thoroughly recommend a visit if you're in Wellington and after kiwi Asian fusion cooking.
W.
A new experience. Far from the classic burgers we use to.
T.
Really friendly team. Average vegan dumplings but will be sure to check out the other vegan options that are on offer. It sounds like there are a lot more dishes I can try, thanks team!
A.
Very nice food, nice atmosphere and vibe, slightly over priced for what you get, however the food was very well prepared and tasted great. It would be a five star if the price wasn't too gawd damn high.
T.
Loved the Wellington on a plate burger, awesome. Mostly great service from the staff...
Wasn't so impressed with the server not taking my drink order. Infact it wasn't until I got up to go and order from the bar that the server noticed me and told me to sit down so he could take the order.
K.
The Cream Cheese Wontons were amazing!
A.
Amazing tasty food and very quick service! The staff weren’t very smiley but the food was delicious so it doesn’t matter I guess 😀 would definitely recommend!
M.
Delicious food (so hard to pick off such am extensively mouthwatering menu!) and great service. Good vibes! Highly recommend
C.
Great food if you like Asian food. Staff are friendly, service is prompt. The dishes are designed to share. This place is very popular. I will be back
L.
Great experience! Place was full when we arrived and we went on a text waitlist (which worked well actually). Had a drink round the corner and returned about half hour later when we were text to say the table was ready. Awesome, flavourful food and cocktails! Service was friendly and fast. Thought it was good value too and awesome it’s all free range. Definately worth the wait, we’ll be back!
M.
Waitress asked if we wanted a low or high table to which we said yes to the low option then sat us at a high table instead because we hadn’t booked.
And then.......
Sticky table, dirty plate and sticky attitude from the waitress after asking for a clean plate. Drank my beer straight from the bottle as the glass was also dirty.
Food was okay.
J.
As usual, great food. Busy but still fast service. Clean and tidy.
S.
The fiis is delishious, the staff is friendly, the service is prompt. The facilities are cocktail menu is intriguing and diesnt disappoint. DIinner for two with drinks was about $70
A.
Interesting flavours and nice staff. Really popular and well located. Portions are quite small if you are really angry I wouldn't recommend it but overall it was tasty and nice to try once. Would rate it 3.5 if Google allowed it.
N.
Great food, and quite a few good vegan options too. Not sure why I've not been here before but will definitely be back.
A.
Lovliest staff, incredible atmosphere and the food was delicious!! Felt very welcomed and looked after and was checked back on a couple times and ensured we had everything. Did feel as though the staff were very rushed and stressed but the restaurant was fairly busy, highly recommend!!
A.
Quite pricy and the portions are small but everything was delicious
V.
Amazing food, service could have been better but they were busy. I'll be back for sure.
A.
Nice food. Fast serving😊👍
S.
Super lovely wait staff, awesome food. Highly reccomend!
S.
Delicious Asian food. I had the beef bao, mince and cheese dumplings and popcorn fried chicken. All superb, washed down with a Heyday IPA. Great service, highly recommended
K.
We've lived in Wellington for 12.5 years, why have we only just found Mr Go's (2 weeks before we leave). Excellent food and great service.
k.
Food was tasty and the service wonderful 😋😊
G.
Busy place with high turnover. Good but not excellent service. Really tasty food, nicely spiced and tasty uality range of vegetarian options. Beer taps had great options, hipster kombucher for my partner was well received.
W.
Amazing service. Food devine
F.
2nd time here. Visiting from Auckland Came back cos I enjoyed the first meal. Loved the Chicken Bao. Actually everything was good.
J.
A very busy place when it's open but worth it. They will try to seat you so no worries. Good street food menu. Excellent cocktails and a good variety of non alcoholic drinks available as well.
P.
Wow! So good, we had the popcorn chicken, spinach chaat, cheese wontons and then dessert was Fixx and Fogg peanut butter dark chocolate icecream with peanut brittle. All delicious and great price. Will come again.
L.
Yum! Yum cocktails and yum food and fast service. The best advice is to prepare to come a few times so you can try it all.
R.
Average. The food is good looking with some trendy asian ingredients "for the style", but flavors are completely unbalanced, overloaded. You don't know what you are eating. Cheap at least for what you get. Nice atmospher for a drink. Not my stuff.
A.
Very good! Amazing quality for the price. The staff is caring and the food was amazing. Will definitely recommend to make a booking, as the place seems to be crowded quite often. Will definitely come back
A.
Always tasty, very popular. Asian street food influences. Interesting drinks menu. Indian Pani Puri is a MUST try. I've only gone early evening and I've found the service friendly and fast.
c.
Recommended by family and did it disappoint. Recommend you order in stages as the portions can be quite big and filling.
Amazing food and perfect service!
C.
The food was good, service could have been a bit faster though. Plus the seating was quite compact so eating wasn't as comfortable as it could have been. But overall, not too bad, still liked it.
K.
Favourite Asian fusion restaurant in Welly, the food is exceptional, the staff are really nice and they have some great beers! What more could you ask for? You must eat one of their bao's, they are amazing!
B.
Super yummy food. Have to go back to try all the other yummy options. Great service too
A.
Not too bad but definitely not as good as the people say it is.
The prices of everything are actually very expensive compared to the quality of food you get I feel, don't get me wrong, everything was very tasty but I just didn't feel it was worth the money we paid for it.
Not sure if I'd come back again but I would be interested in trying dishes as maybe I just chose the wrong things.
J.
Very busy so we waited an hour for a table which was fine - it was Saturday night and we were keen to try Mr Go's. The staff were great, the place was noisy but a fun ambience. Food was good but we ordered to much (dont order when you're starving) and irs quite filling
T.
So so so good! Been in Welly for 4 months and there is plenty of competition but we’ve been to Mr Go’s 3 tines now. Happy hour is super generous, staff are A+ and the food to die for! Thanks guys
S.
Amazing food, great flavours, great service. Really fresh ingredients.
Only thing is that when choosing the dishes off the menu, the serving size of the plates can be a bit of a mystery.
S.
Superb food and great service - it was pretty busy but we were quickly seated with drink in hand. I think they take some bookings too but we just walked in. Loved the Bao's, definitely the best in Welly! Will certainly return
R.
Great food, fairly priced, friendly staff. You should turn up an hour before you want to eat and book a table as it does get quite busy.
S.
Amazing fusion food! Highly recommended
M.
Our favourite but they can get busy so you have to get in quick! Bao buns are a must do the pani purri is too delicious not to try! I miss the vietnemese coffee though - it was amazing
s.
This place deservedly requires one to make a reservation if possible. They are crazy buzy every night of the week and rightly so. The food is delicious, the service great and the experience is a must.
T.
The food is so exciting and flavorsome. Just can't wait to eat there again!
The waiting staff could be a little friendlier but that's all.
J.
I'm a bit wary of hyped up places (to avoid disappointment haha) but this place was cool, prices werent too outrageous and the staff were super friendly and unpretentious. The food was amazing as you'd expect (cream cheese wontons!)
C.
Yum food, great cocktails and excellent service. More casual than I was expecting but that's just fine with me. Would certainly come back.
J.
Great service, lovely food and a very good price point. One dish didn't come out till we had finished everything else so that's the only reason it doesent get a 5. Will be back!
A.
Amazing food and excellent service. We tried different dishes and flavours. Definitely we will come back.
R.
Monday night, very quick and knowledgeable service. Delicious food, Korean wings (lime leaficious), kung pao cauli (amazing textures, crunchy, juicy soft, leafy crisp), pork dumplings (smooth and super silky as was the sauce and deep, rich and creamy flavour profile), wok fried rice cakes (my wife's favourite a lot of texture and deep flavour in the co sauce), Super refreshing non alc house drinks, lime lemongrass and ginger (tiny tart and ginger fresh), mango (tropilicious). Fairly quiet Monday night, but usually cranking towards the weekend.
J.
Excellent service, faster than MacDonalds, food was next level sensational! An experience not just a meal, plan to go there a lot
R.
Friendly staff, great cocktails, and a wide array of tasty and creative things on the menu.

J.
Damn! Got the Chicken Gua Bao and a few of the sides. I don't think I really need to be specific on which ones, because everything we had was awesome. Great atmosphere and wonderful staff. This has to be one of the best places I've gone to in Wellington.
