Went there once during the first week of January. Online they had a different menu and in the restaurant they had holiday (reduced items) menu. But they still did a few basic items that weren't on the menu. We ordered garlic bread (not on holiday menu), risotto, rigatoni, and a chicken main dish. The food was good. However the day we went, they were short-staffed and it took quite long to get order/food (no complain here, just highlighting the stress on the staff).

The vibe here is that of being sophisticated and accommodating with the staff working furiously in the background to ensure the deliciously fresh food and amazing drinks (cocktails) are presented well and delivered efficiently. Attention to detail was very obvious during my visit. And what a view!

Friendly professional waitstaff. Good gluten free options. Almost all pasta dishes can be made gf on request. The food is of consistent quality and presentation. I had the marinara pasta with pomadoro sauce. My guests had clam pasta and bacon and mushroom pasta. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will be back.

What a wonderful first experience at Portofino Wellington! We went for a 21st birthday lunch and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty and plenty of it, they even gave the birthday boy a free cake! Definitely recommend eating here and this will be our new Wellimgton CBD go to restaurant.

Portofino is just the name. Food is really simple not much flavor going on in there but was acceptable. However the staff was friendly and good but not the manager or whatverver was his rol, person in charge or something like that. He was really unprofessional shouting from one end to the restaurant to the other and kind of dancing, wearing simple clothes not according to to the place. The building is so nice with spectacular views but unfortunately the food and service isn't what you expect when you walk pass by this restaurant. Average prices.

Husband and I had dinner here for our 10th wedding anniversary. The risotto di pollo and penne al forno were delicious. The profiteroles were so light! Bellini cocktails are a new fave. Staff were attentive and friendly. We look forward to dining here again soon!

I would give 10 out of 10 for the tablerone coctail..it was absolutely fantastic.. Had a seafood pasta, unfortunately cant say the same..no seasoning , and i couldnt see any seafood except mussels.i couldnt find even 1 pc of calamari which was upsetting.but anyway the atmosphere and the cocktail made my day..

It had three things I hold high in my must have list for foods. The risottos looked okay and I will try those next. Other guests had cannelloni and I had a taste and it wasn't like others we've had and will pick Nicolini's for the better cannelloni. The experience of an Italian restaurant is good food and wine and Dean Martin's greatest hits. A mixed bag for our experience, but we're all different and you need to test drive your taste buds through this restaurant to form your opinion.

owner continues to be preoccupied with larger tables rather than smaller customers, we visited as a family of four last visit. spent $136 this time 2 entree 2 mains 2 dessert 4 cranberry drinks. in my opinion only main was worth the price everything else below average. broken toilet handles and needs a dust especially in the bar area.

Very average experience. Seafood platter was okay but bruschetta and dessert were quite terrible....worst tiramisu I have ever had. Service was also average. No record of our reservation that was confirmed via email. This was for our wedding anniversary and could have been disastrous if the restaurant was full.

Lunch on Wednesday 13/01/21. Good location, fantastic view of the harbour, okay service. Asked for sparkling water for one but had only large bottles. The waitress said I could cancel and have just water, I said yes please. But after paying I saw they’d charged me $10 for it. Also asked for WiFi code but what she gave me didn’t work. Lasagne and penne arrabbiata was lovely, the pizza so-so and I think $19.5 for a capers salad of perhaps 1-1.5 tomatoes, mediocre mozzarella and basil leaves a bit steep. The calamari was also a bit sparse for $17.5 was a bit sparse.

Portofino Wellington is somewhere I go whenever I get the chance; I've hosted business lunches and held family dinners. When my son suggested we go go out for dinner together, this was an immediate choice. The front of house Team are genuinely welcoming, friendly, and very knowledgeable on both the menu and the wine list. We had (as always) a lovely meal and dining experience, and one I'm sure we'll repeat.

Fantastic restaurant. We had a big group (20 people) and this was a great place to accommodate us all. Starters were delicious, recommend the pizza bread with pesto. Ordered the Pollo pizza for mains although we found that it isn't big enough to be shared between two people. We had excellent service all evening and I will definitely go back there again.

Portofino was actually a pretty good place to take kids. They did a half price kids menu on the weekend and had some good variety (our kids had chicken tenders, potato and brocoli for one, hawiian pizza for another and spaghetti bolognese). Service was good and fast, and food was tasty.

Last night we celebrated a special birthday with a party of 35. We found the service and food to be very good. The waitering staff were very helpful, friendly and cheerful. The Antipasto platters were very tasty with plenty for every one and a good variety. The mains were all served at the same time with no one left waiting and vegetarians well catered for. The bar staff served the drinks in a timely and efficient manner and informed us once the bar tab had reached the agreed limit, as requested.

It's been a while since we were last to Portofino, and we're rarely there with the kids. We were seated very quickly, the buggy valeted away. The selection available to the kids was diverse, but eluded the sweet spot for our fussy eater. Fortunately, service is quick enough that preschool boredom didn't really set it. Given the range of likely outcomes, it went well.

Nice, clean place. The food is good, but the menu is a little odd; the salate caprese is listed (and priced) like a sizeable dish but it really seems much more like a side plate to me. Dishes other people in my party ordered looked great, but I felt like an idiot with my half dozen slices of tomato while they scoffed giant plates of pasta. I would visit again, but I'd also be much more careful about making assumptions based on price or position in the menu.

Delicious Italian food can be found here. All made fresh, which you can watch while absorbing the casual cool dining with harbour views. El fresco dining can be enjoyed here, especially on a summer night with a salty sea breeze to awaken your senses. Authencity is key here, from the supurb fettuccine di pollo through to Perionni on tap and good grappa or espresso with biscotti. Pizza here are fantastic too. Staff and service are excellent and helpful if your Italian is not as good as you want it to be. Might be considered a bit pricey, but definitely worth it for great food and company.

Portofinos is a "family owned restaurant" found in several cities throughout New Zealand. We ate there in Taupo and again in Wellington. They offer an Italian cuisine, as might be expected. We enjoyed different dishes each time, once with several friends who also enjoyed their choices (including te mussels!) We would recommend it!

Spacious and comfortable seating around the restaurant which is divided into different sections. Pleasant, cordial and helpful staff. Amiable, well timed and friendly service. Great variety of food and drinks with many options for vegans and vegetarians. Fresh preparations which can be felt from diffusing fragrance of spices from well prepared food, served while it is warm. Delicious food and good presentation. Loved Vegetariana Pizze. Table service. This restaurant offers takeaways. Reservation is recommended for the groups and can be made in advance. This restaurants lets you order ahead for groups on order to keep food ready to be served on arrival which makes it an ideal place for quick celebrations in the middle of the day or during early evening. Card as well as cash payments are accepted. Paywave facility is available at this location. Good for groups, celebrations, family and kids. Normally busy during evening. Outdoor seating is not available. Could not notice wheelchair accessible seating or high chair in plain view at this location. Entrance is wheelchair accessible. There is no dedicated parking area available although street parking can be found around. Wheelchair parking is not available. Enjoyed the experience.

5 stars is not enough to describe the experience that you will get at Portofino, Mario and Pepe (the restaurants owners) are so kind and helpful, Portofino is a family run chain of restaurants in New Zealand and when you go there, you feel like you are at there house having a family meal, the price of the food is really cheep too!
