Reviews of Two Grey - Café, Bar & Eatery
N.
Christmas high brunch, service was good, but the food was great. Although it is not bottomless tea, the food range was fresh and taste. Definitely Worth of your time and money.
R.
the food here was great and they offer good vegetarian options:))
R.
We came here while visiting for WOAP and tried the 'El Dorado' burger. Unfortunately the burger itself wasn't much to write home about but the truffle aioli that came on the side of it was INSANE. Good atmosphere and service too. Would like to come back and give some of their other food a go.
D.
Went for high brunch and was not disappointed - there was so much food, we had to take some of it away! The waffles were a bit stale, but everything else was tasty.
Gave the rating I did because after charging us $55/pp, they still asked for a tip at the till. This isn’t America - we pay the prices we do so staff can be paid appropriately. If you want to reward your staff, YOU do it.
M.
My partner and I had a lovely dining experience at TwoGrey .The staff were kind caring professional and very considerate to our requests. The meals we had were delicious and the desserts full of lovely flavors .We both were very Impressed and hope to return soon. Also made to feel comfortable plus the staff were all pleasant and thoughtful .
B.
Went there for a hens party and did the high brunch. The food was so good and they gave us so much we couldn’t finish it! Staff were friendly and helpful and even let us takeaway the leftovers. Price is a bit dear ($50 per person), but totally worth it for any special occasion.
G.
It was good food i actually liked the taste of the crispy but squishly soft salmon as it melted in my warm mouth. The flaky flakes were just the right consistency. The green paste made everything so much better, it helped balanced out the meal and helped compliment the salmon. Thanks for the delicous meal i liked it and thankfully my wife has not complained... yet. lol
K.
Lovely cafe with an amazing menu with great options.
Served by a very lovely young man. Denver was super helpful and polite.
I highly recommend to all my friends when in Wellington, even try the high brunch!
J.
Really nice and cozy place to hangout with. Excellent service, the staff was just amazing. Most appetizing burger I've had in years, would definitely recommend
J.
Incredible staff, delicious food!
T.
3 of us Went here 1st time today,
We all enjoyed our meals also their coffees ☕ ☕
It all was Yum 😋
Staff friendly and helpful 👌
H.
Exceeded my expectation. The lamb was really good; snapper dish was excellent; coffee was great as well, and I do not regret finishing my meal with the raspberry-chocolate-ice cream dessert. It was absolutely amazing. In addition to food, service was really good, too.
S.
Great corner cafe to escape the madness of the Xmas parade down Willis St. It was quiet on a Sunday afternoon, with only a few other patrons inside. I grabbed a flat white and a table by the window - a great spot to people watch. The service was professional.
J.
I attended Two Grey for our work team's Christmas function, and opted for the 3 course Christmas set menu. I was impressed with the options, portion size, presentation and service, and will have no hesitation to go there again.
Z.
Food could have been better but the poached eggs in our Eggs Benedict and Two Grey Breakfast were overdone. Nothing special really. For the price you pay you would expect the food to be stellar but it's alright. Even the service is so-so.
G.
Great brunch at Two Grey!, The High Brunch is a particular highlight, so much food well worth the price. Staff were attentive and food was delicious will definitely be back.
R.
Had brunch. Food was delicious and well presented. Our young waiter Denver was a lovely young chap. We will be back!!
A.
Pretty average but with some tweaks could be better. I had the fish and chips, ditch the salty shoestring fries
for wedges. Salad was drowned
P.
Nice dinner at the Two Grey Restaurant ably served by our lovely Filipino waitress Lapski tonight 😋 😋
A.
The staff came over a few too many times before we were ready to order which was a bit awkward. However, food was amazing!!! Halloumi cooked perfectly.
S.
First visit to this place, used to be Arizona. We were nicely welcomed. We ordered coffees which were great. Meals were delivered reasonably quickly and were well prepared. Nice burger and wife had fish and chips.
They also have various latte's as an option, chocolate, mint chocolate and others. Not normally a latte person but I did try one and it was rewarding.
G.
I went to Two Grey recently for brunch and had such a lovely time! The Reuben was amazing and the coffee was perfect!
J.
Lovely restaurant! plus amazing service. Would definitely recommend to family and friends! :)
N.
Absolutely ❤ Two Grey! Generous portions and personalised attention. Fantastic vegetarian and dietary options. This is how it should be done!
N.
I really enjoyed my meal an service here. The menu was a bit limited but some good options. Failed to get 5 stars because I got charged for the wrong table. They refunded me back down to what I owed but it means I won't be able to claim back on business. They were very kind about it though
J.
A good little addition to the Lambton side of down, Two Grey carries off a more sophisticated attempt to please the professional lunch crowd. Great interior design suggests a good understanding of likely clientele.
Coffee was a good brew from Supreme, though the wine and craft beer selection may be more appealing. Be aware though, a large coffee comes in a gaudy mug. You've been warned.
Food was pleasing with good portions for sending nearby accountants and diplomats back to work without being too full. Fish was brilliantly presented.
Go here for a professional lunch, and enjoy the inference that you too may be this cool.
R.
We booked High Brunch & it was delicious. Food, coffee & service excellent! Just missed having butter with the breads but overall tastiness of all the food made up for that.
K.
Great food, attentive service and very welcoming environment! Can’t wait to go back.
Z.
Great place for a quick lunch or a chilly beer. They have a nice collection of local craft beers. The meal was tasty and the service was quick and kind.
J.
Their food is amazing! Must try. My favourite is the tomato poached egg
C.
Great food 3 course for wow @$45 hellishly reasonable and a lovely dessert. Great service ..was worth the tip. I came in at brunch and decided to go back at night.
K.
Food was very average. Not bad but not wow either. Service was great, attentive waitinv staff, polite and helpful.
M.
Beautiful atmosphere. Service can be a bit hit or miss, but the food is high quality. Brunch smoked salmon galette is awesome, but note it’s a crepe style galette.
K.
Delicious food and amazing service. The presentation was so extra! Definitely recommend for a nice evening or birthday dinner.
R.
Good menu, friendly helpful staff (even if did get our order bit confused) . We were on tight time schedule and they got food out to our table promptly.
J.
Amazing atmosphere, fantastic service and the cocktails are to die for! Would definitely recommend
A.
Bistro/ Bar minimalist industrial styling lends an inviting casual ambience to a venue filled with corporate high flyers and elegant laid back travellers. Delicious breakfast, scrambled eggs perfectly delivered with sourdough toast... trim ( read skim) flat white rounded off an enjoyable experience that I repeat whenever I’m in city for early meetings. Service was casual, pleasant. Great window seating for watching the world go by. Free wifi.
N.
Awesome food and even better coffee. Not a cheap breakky but you get what you pay for. Definitely worth trying the green eggs!
F.
I had a lunch with my wife to celebrate our 10th anniversary. The food is really good and the service is brilliant. We got a free anniversary dessert as well. I'd recommend.
F.
Food was amazing but service needs some tweaking. Learn to listen to what your customer is asking for
V.
High tea brunch was phenomenal! Wait staff were friendly and personable, to go boxes available. Loved it!
S.
A classic error where there was no Maitre D at lunchtime. Young staff with no management guidance,so felt disorganised. We were rushing in for a Friday lunch (before heading back to work) but we were left waiting for service whilst the waitress chatted to the bar staff. Shame really, as the food was actually good.
A.
Love Two Grey! Amazing staff. Delicious food. Incredible service. Had the most beautiful coconut flat white this morning!
T.
The coffee was very watery and tasted terrible. I enjoyed the food however, the ingredients included aren't made very clear and I would have ended up eating a meal with meat (which I don't eat) if the waitress hadn't remembered to let me know last minute. We did complain about our drinks and they were very great at resolving the issue and taking them off the bill. The service was good and the place was very nicely decorated which were the only redeeming factors for me. Very poor overall compared to the price.
P.
Ambience and location is fantastic. I had the burger and the buns were the main feature. I liked the taste of the sauce but it was too fluidy and made it messy to eat especially with lengthy cut onions and pickles.
C.
A great little cafe - super staff and delicious coffee
K.
Excellent menu with plenty of vegetarian options, and lovely staff.
J.
Overall pretty average. I got the sirloin steak and a side of broccoli that tasted as if it was from a frozen Watties bag.
A.
Delicious food and absolutely outstanding service. My partner took me here as a surprise for my birthday. It was during the WOW festival and so we got a special dessert! Extremely kind and personable service from our waitress - thank you so much!

Have been to Two Grey and had two quite different experiences. Have been during the day and found it to be quiet and the staff friendly and attentive. Perfect for a business meeting.
Second experience was around 5pm, most were having after work beers and it was really quite loud. Barista wasn't very friendly and hard to hear. We then stood at the counter and waited for our coffees which took a very long time and would have been easier to find a seat and had them brought to us but that wasn't given as an option. Once we'd sat down it wasn't so bad, we sat by the windows and it wasn't so loud in there. Smaller space so better acoustics. We then had three servers fix our water in quick succession. And then nothing for the rest of the time we were there. Coffee wasn't great, bitter. And the flat white was more like a latte.
S.
Just dropped in for few beers but must say attentive customer service.
C.
We had such a lovely meal here. Amazingly tasty food, great service and a cute spot. Would recommend for a nice dinner spot
H.
Awesome place! We got the Two Grey breakfast and a mocachino was beautiful and cooked perfectly! 👌 Georgia gave us exceptional service, Would highly recommend.
S.
Food was really nice and decently priced given the quality, however the service was a real let down. We arrived and ordered drinks (mostly coffee) and it just did not turn up. We had to ask where the coffee was and even then they got some of it wrong. Had to ask several time’s for the side of cold milk. To their credit, they did not charge us for the drinks however it’s a shame that we had to chase them for the missing items and it was not managed better.
R.
We really like Two Grey. Cafes are dime a dozen these days so it is a huge pleasure to find one that ticks the boxes. Good menu and the food delivers on the promise. Very good coffee and very good service. Perfection would be clean windows......
N.
This place does a great brunch , the service was a bit muted but it felt like they had put hotel staff into the restaurant.
The tumeric latte tasted like soap I normally like these but something went horribly wrong with this one . Despite this I will probably go back
A.
Awesome atmosphere tasty food friendly staff.
B.
Had breakfast here the staff were very friendly, the cafe is very popular with people. Failed to get 5 stars as the waffles were hard and didn’t taste the best. But other food looked good. Would come here again but have something else.
S.
I love this place! Unique menu and beautiful interior. The squid ink waffles were a great time! I also like that every table feels like it has enough space, it's one of the only places in Wellington that doesn't try to pack in as much seating as possible.
P.
I really like this bar, great decor and atmosphere. Food is of high quality and always a good location for lunch or after work. Only downside is sometimes the waiting staff don't come and take your order and have to be asked or sought even in quieter times, but when they do come are friendly and helpful.
G.
We had brunch here. The eggs Benedict and avacado smash were excellent. The eggs were poached perfectly. I ordered a side hash brown which was nice and crispy yet sort of like mashed potatoes. Really good. Our server was good.
M.
Had the veggie breakfast, bloody Mary and summer smoothie. All outstanding. Would've been 5 stars - Table setting needed some work - was missing cutlery and had an empty pepper grinder, but otherwise very pleasant.
A.
There for lunch in party of 16 and loooong wait of an hour for first course to arrive (bread and spread). Main course food was only warm when it arrived. Further long wait for dessert (pavlova) and had to ask for it to be hurried so some of us could get back to meetings. It is Christmas week, so I guess some patience is required. Staff were friendly and did apologise for the wait.
G.
Two grey looks really nice from the outside looking in, so when we found ourselves staying close by while passing through, we were looking forward to trying Two Grey for dinner. It was a quiet Monday night. There were a few people in there when we came in, but by the time our plates eventually came out, we had the place to ourselves. Sometimes it can feel uncomfortable or even boring to dine in a deserted restaurant, but the a certain member of the waitstaff decided to entertain us with an avant-garde performance art; a contemporary dance piece that used dining implements as instruments to juxtaposes the celebratory sounds of dining out, with the monotony and tedium of working in hospitality.
This virtuoso used a heavy heeled shoe on the wooden floor to march out an unyielding rhythm as they walked in apparent circles around the empty dining room, further emphasising the cyclic nature of their work. This base line was enhanced with frequent rummaging through the cutlery draw and the ringing of water glasses carried from the kitchen. CLACK CLOCK CLACK CLOCK CLACK CLOCK JINGLE JANGLE CLINK CLUNK CLACK CLOCK CLACK CLOCK JINGLE JANGLE CLINK CLUNK. What really impressed me was the persistence of their work. It continued on for what seemed like half an hour. This was the real achievement; the transformation of common background noise to an almost oppressive and all enveloping unignorable sound invading my thoughts, and really putting my nerves on edge.
By turning the exercise of privilege that is eating at restaurant into a genuinely unpleasant experience, I was forced to face the twin realities of both my own personal shortfalls of empathy and tolerance, and the way in which capitalism grinds workers down. This performance reached me in a way that a meal alone really could not. Which was fine by the way, bit pricey.
C.
Great food and drinks selection. The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to help you have the best dining experience.... especially Rebekah. A+ and will definitely be back 🙂
P.
Came in for a Saturday breakfast. Best choice. The Turkish Eggs was to die for (if you don’t mind fresh garlic) and the Scrambled eggs and croissant was great too. Good coffee good ambience and good service. Recommended.
N.
Wish I could eat more sometimes, the casear salad was delicious. My daughter enjoyed her cheeseburger as well.
M.
Good casual place to dine.
Tasty food - starters are a decent size and would suffice as a main.
I had the salmon rosti starter - yum
L.
Good food and excellent service too. I had the salmon fillet on pea puree for dinner and it was delicious, fine dining quality! Hope to visit again soon.
M.
Inattention meant that our drinks lay ignored on the bar for too long before being finally delivered. Plates were removed before some of our party had finished dining. We didn't stay for dessert.
R.
Had an amazing meal at Two Grey, I ordered the New York Strip and had 0 regrets. Wait staff were all lovely, our server Andrew was really funny and personable, made the experience even better :) will be going back for breakfast tomorrow! Atmosphere is really vibing and the music wasn’t intrusive for conversation- just a really cool place :)
A.
Came here on a whim for dinner last night and ordered the half head of cauliflower, gnocchi, broccolini and zucchini bread.
My partner and I often find vegetarian dishes at restaurants uninspired or lacking in flavour, but the veg options at Two Grey were absolutely delicious. Fresh ingredients, packed with flavour, and big portions. Would definitely come here again. Service was spot on and attentive too.
w.
A little expensive for two crampits with butter and the waitress spilled sauce over my wife ,but the food was nice
P.
Average best describes Two Grey. We had great expectations - awesome reviews, great decour, good looking menu. Sadly, Two Grey didn't deliver. The wine list was over priced and misleading - and the staff didn't know about any of the wines, so couldn't offer any advice (thankfully, Google helped). The meal was ok - but lacked seasoning (read: flavour). And the service was lacking - we actually thought that the restaurant was about to close and were trying to get everyone to leave their service was so poor! My recommendation? If you want just another hotel meal, try Two Grey. If you want to spend the same amount on a fantastic dining experience, try many of the other great restaurants in the area - Charley Noble (where we ended up going for dessert), Pravda, WBC, to name a few.
D.
Friendly service from start to end. Offered a choice of seats as it wasn't too busy. Order the Sirloin steak with shoestring fries. Steak was grilled to perfection and fries came with a awesome aioli.
L.
We got there after 12pm to have lunch. For some reason we got the Breakfast menu which might explain why the selection was limited if you want lunch. We didn't question it at that time either. I ordered the seafood chowder while hubby ordered the kumara rosti.
Hubby enjoyed the kumara rosti but my seafood chowder was very watery and bland. There was also one mussel that was unopened and I wasn't adventurous enough to open it with my hands.
Even though I didn't enjoy my food, we're keen to give it another go and make sure we order from the lunch menu.
Place was clean and staff was pleasant enough.
S.
Foods great but reflective sound makes it hard to enjoy properly-and I dont understand why it has sports screens, clashes with the rest of the vibe. Love the hand lotion in the bathroom however!
S.
Two grey is my favorite restaurant in the centre city.
W.
Nice bar. It was very crowded and noisy which I believe explains why they got our drinks order wrong.
L.
The service was very good.
Disappointed by the burger (welly on a plate 2020) called Mountain of cheese but not much cheese after all :(
The dessert was awful (petits fours)
J.
Came here for afternoon tea. Lovely tea served here. The waitress was helpful and non-intrusive. Highly recommend!
B.
Service was really good, meals were amazing! Really recommend the beef cheeks and the apple tart! Good selection of beers and good ambience to it too :-)
N.
Lovely spot for lunch or dinner. I go here often for coffee and the service is always excellent. Nice little spot out front too if you want to sit in the sun.
A.
Visited on a very busy Sunday morning, the waitresses were super friendly and quickly found me a table. The coffee was very nice, and came out quickly. The waffles were amazing, very tasty!
S.
Great location, lovely ambience. Super attentive staff who are great. Breakfast was fantastic, waffles and cooked.
R.

P.
Very tasty food & friendly staff. Loved the Beef Cheek followed by Chocolate Mousse. Looking forward to eating there again.
C.
A funky cafe. A great alternative to all yhe mojos
D.
Amazing! This rehaul of the old Arizona into 2 Grey has taken on an almost 1920's New York or London vibe and its beautiful! Chicken waffles for breakfast were Amazing! Big ups to Jason (Head Chef) and all the crew there!!!
B.
Loved the salmon & risotto. Online table reservation was easy
M.
Good food at reasonable prices ..
J.
Boring menu that tries deliberately to not really do brekkie bacon & eggs as part of brunch. Rest of it pleasant but not stand-out
K.
Great service, fast, nice ambience.
A.
Was nice look place great staff
But need ask you self if empty what wrong . Maybe they need ask them self the same questions.
A.
Croque Madame wasn't a croque madame - more of an uninspired sandwich. Disappointing. Coffee and service was great though.
T.
The high tea was amazing, friendly staff bit had to keep asking them for things, the table wasn't checked on
C.
Good food and service, but can be noisy at busy times because there are no ceiling tiles or partions.
G.
Good beers and food. Service very good. Little bit pricey but nothing out of the ordinary for Wellington. Liked the fact you could get a seat.
W.
Smart interior, good location & nice ambiance. Friendly and attentive staff, we will be back!
A.
