We reserved seats late in the evening as we had a long day but they were still understanding and catered for us on a Sunday night! With the new covid rules, we could never tell how things would pan out, but the staff here are great and let us sit while we drove back for one vax pass. Aside the mishaps, the team still put on great service and matched it with the food served to us. Everything tasted amazing and was well worth the value with generous servings. Well done guys! Definitely a great pre Valentine's treat.

Great restaurant in great location. But like so many places in hospitality NZ, it does lack a bit of personal touch in customer service. Just basic things like smiling and greeting.

Lovely place by the bay. Great view as you can see in the photo. We got fish of the day and pasta. We're both really happy with what we've got. They have a good selection of dishes.

Great place for drinks and food by the waterfront and boats. Pasta flavours were great and cooked perfectly, however very oily. Was jealous of the fish of the day my partner got though!

Food at the restaurant was quite good, both flavours and portions. However, the service isn’t the greatest, went here twice over while in the town on holiday and on both occasions there were staff that were quite rude and not very inviting. This was unfortunate because the food was good but we didn’t feel welcomed. Possibly could of been an off couple of days for the site? In any case, 3 stars for the food and the one service member that was good.

Great place in Tutakaka for a meal. The wife and I went down for lunch, friendly staff, indoor, outdoor seating and we even met the owner. We had the fish tacos something I don't normally eat and I must say they were lovely! Followed by a beer of course and a coffee to finsh all were great! Toilets clean, seating tables and floor clean, cutlery, plates and cups clean and the water glasses were clean as well no dishwasher streak marks you sometimes see at busy places. Parking out the front side and back. Very good 👍

Mediocre place relying on the fact that it’s practically the only game in town. Had the fish special- fish was extremely overcooked and dry, grilled veg was wan (I’d guess it was boiled) and orzo and rocket salad had no rocket to speak of. Not awful but not great and I think most people would hope for better.

We had a fabulous light lunch of olives, ciabatta, hummus and ceviche accompanied by the house Pinot Gris s- the Ned. Attentive, friendly service. A huge improvement from our previous visit last Summer. Will definitely return and will recommend to friends and family.

Great atmosphere at this restaurant. Food is generally OK, but at all costs avoid the tomato and basil pasta - if that wasn't a warmed up tin of Watties spaghetti with a sprinkle of parmesan and a couple of extra tomatoes then may the good juju strike me down. Go for the hamburger and chips instead

This place is the best restaurant in the district, hands down! The operator is on point, he selects FOH staff that are warm and friendly and they're backed up by an amazing crew in the kitchen.

The place is good and the food is good too. We went there twice while our trip to Tutukaka and both the tines we weren't disappointed. Once for an evening drink. We were greeted well and the ambiance was good. For lunch it was almost full for lunch. Food were yummy.

Gillian’s Island themed restaurant with average food and spotty service. Drinks bearly arrived, bland potato skins and clam pasta that needed hot sauce to blast the cream away. Upside was the super pleasant outdoor seating in summer, clean bathrooms. Disappointing experience and management more interested in your spend.

Nice little restaurant in the style of a boat themed restaurant. Prices are reasonable and the food quality is good, we had a fish dish, salad, bao buns and chips and they are all very nice. The place was about half full and the service was nice and fast.

Perfect place to take a breakfast or a lunch ! Meals are very tasty and beautiful. Nice view on the port. Well decorated. Very kind staff. I took the Smoked salmon toasted bagel, with cream cheese and micro greens ! It was awesome !! Next time I will try the Benedict Eggs ;)

Good atmosphere. Quiet and comfortable with good service. Nice outdoor seating. Enjoyed my chicken salad and my sister liked the BLAT with pesto. We enjoyed the mango and vanilla ice creams made with coconut for dessert.

We were told to go to bar on arrival despite having made a booking. Had to find the drinks menu as the bar had a few people unable to move from the front of it. Fortunately we were taken in within 5 minutes and the wait staff were really good and friendly. Dinner was served quickly. Small menu which was good. Only one Vegetarian dish. Good variety of drinks and the atmosphere was warm. Would go again.

Great location, nice simple menu and wine list. Friendly and efficient staff. We had pan fried fish and chips which was generous size, well cooked and interesting salad.

The best fish & chips we have ever eaten! Snapper was thick tender fresh perfectly cooked & the beer batter was crunchy! Superb & the salad that came with it was beautifully presented & full of flavour! Well done to the Chef! Our Waiter was friendly & gave us great service! Thank you for a wonderful experience. All overlooking the water at Tutakaka Marina! I seldom comment on Restaurant food but this was standout DELICIOUSNESS! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

7yrs ago found this little gem and remembered how good the service and muscles were. We thought we would try and find it again on this trip to NZ. It did not disappoint we were outside of lunch menu but they were happy to cook us up a bowl of their signature dish. Thank you. Back again for the oysters and now baked cheesecake OMG!

Wonderful restaurant with a view of the Marina! Has delicious coffee and a peaceful, rustic ambience.

Right on the marina and set in a Fijian Bure style building, the atmosphere is unique and welcoming and the staff service is outstanding. While we didn't have a dedicated attendant, each of the crew were very, polite, attentive and accommodating without being overbearing, some of the best service I've had in nz. Full credit to the team here! Fish of the day was with roast veges and a sweet mustard sauce, was well cooked, fresh and delicious. The food won't absolutely blow your mind but certainly a great meal out and well worth visiting. It is not a cheap dining experience, but good value for the overall experience I would say.

Stumbled across this place on a recent weekend away in the north and immediately fell in love. The menu is an absolute gem and the atmosphere was cheerful and chill. We ordered the bruschetta and the ceviche, both of which were perfection on a plate. Fantastic flavour combinations and we had clean plates both in very little time.

Great service friendly staff and the food was tasty. Nice design and atmosphere, especially on a nice day with views live music and lunch.

ABSOLUTELY delicious thank you very much :) got the fresh fish both pan fried (incl kids menu) and battered options. Also had a desert and coffee and again thoroughly enjoyed. All staff were super friendly with a relaxed atmosphere to boot. Wish it was our local.

Got caught out at home with little food after long day smashing up concrete base . Rang schnappa rock and ordered burger and fries just before kitchen closed and drove from wooleys Bay to be greeted with my food being plated as I walked in door.great food and service. Pricey but good service and food.

I visited Schappa Rock restaurant this weekend. I was very disappointed! $45 for a fish meal which when it arrived at the table, it came on a bed of couscous and very little of anything else. My chicken dish came on a bed of rice, void of vegetables really or salad. We were a table of 7 people and not one of us were impressed with our meal... overly priced and flavour was lacking throughout all of our meals. The desserts however were very good.

This is the best spot on the Tutukaka Coast. Great coffee, simple bar menu, and tasty evening meals... the menu is not as large as it used to be but the ambience and friendly staff make up for this. I am a regular and will continue to frequent regularly. A big thumbs up!!

Three of us had lunch here today. The food was excellent and they also managed to cater for my dietary requirement. Will definitely be going back again.

Stopped off for a quick bite on our way through to far north. Very busy at the time so we had to seat ourselves and source menus. Food is quite fried and heavy not very many light options.

Beautiful seafood, great views of the marina, staff were super friendly and great service. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again for sure :)

We enjoyed a dinner at Schnappa Rock 2 weeks ago. The food was fantastic. I had the chicken and my husband had the fish. The service was very attentive and spot on. We would go back again to this restaurant.

Yum! All the meals we had here have been fabulous but a special mention must go to the jackfruit nachos, A+ Great place to eat in Tutukaka. Staff are friendly. Kids menu is good not just fried options which is a welcome change.

It's a treat. Waiter efficient. Great food. Her royal high ess had fish taco for lunch with most excellent coffee. I had toasted type lunch sandwich. It blew me away. Great flavour. Place a little confusing around till area. Covid 19 qr didn't help.

Our dinner was amazing! Our waitress, Soraya was bubbly, welcoming & added to the great vibe we already felt about this place. We both ordered pan fried hapuku from the specials board which was absolutely beautiful. The brioche bread and butter pudding was divine. We will most definitely be coming back and we haven't stopped raving about our dining experience here. Great job Schnappa Rock crew.

Showed up without a reservation - booking - on a night that was quite busy. Got a seat at the bar and ordered our meal - the food came out before we finished our cocktail. The food was fresh, delicious and presented really well. The service was friendly and the atmosphere is really cheerful. The fish special was very yum!

We popped in for a drink on a hot summer's afternoon and nestled in very comfortable chairs and lovely staff serving us with nice cold drinks. Lovely views also with plenty to watch

Awesome food and drink, very filling. Tho we did wait quite a while for someone to come to the table to bring menus, there weren't any placed on the tables or on a hutch for anyone to grab.

Good food and sevice .. lovely setting

Nice food with great service. Menu hasn't changed in a long time though and could do with a refresh. Had the fritters to start and the pork main. Both were nice but not amazing. Restaurant feels a little closed in considering the location. The staff didn't seem to mind our kids playing hide and seek in the outside bar area which was nice.

Tasty & well presented dishes. Attentive service. Arrived without a booking & had a drink in the bar before being seated for dining 20mins later. Bathroom facilities clean & tidy. Quality dishes which were reflected in the prices. For me, it was nice for a special occasion but would remember to book in future.

Easy parking, nice weather, good company. Thoroughly enjoyed my marinated chicken, with chips on the side, and a lemon dessert. Great place during the summer months, and not too bad in the winter, as long as you dress warmly as, the plastic-sided walls can be a bit draughty. Very pleasant staff, but the till payment area also, entrance and exit area, was a quite conjested when paying for the meals. Altogether another pleasant experience.

My wife and I took our staff for our Xmas lunch there today The food was really fresh and delicious I was also very impressed with our waiter Tem who was very switched on and attentive. Everyone had a great time. We Highly recommended & will definitely be back Thank you

It was good. The coffee was good. The BLT bagel was good. The service was good... except for getting a order a bit wrong. One dish was not what was ordered but it was only brunch so it wasn't a big deal. We booked 10-ish Sunday morning and on our way out people were waiting for a table. So it would probably pay to give them a call before dropping in.

Thanks to the team at Schnapper Rock for a awesome evening. Went with work colleagues, a team of 28 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their night. Meals were great !! Service attentive, prompt and friendly... So nice to have good service... Totally recommend 👌

Amazing food that's very high quality and cooked to perfection! Great friendly staff an lovely atmosphere. Only thing bad I could say was that it got quite cold whilst we were having our dinner and maybe turning one or 2 more heaters on would have made a difference but next time I'll just take a jacket! Nothing will stop me returning

Booked a table and got a prompt confirmation. Went out for dinner and had a great time. Very friendly staff and and awesome cuisine. Layback atmosphere. We will be back again. Definitely... Highly recommended.

The service was grand. The food was amazing. The restaurant has a real chill feel about it. Pricing is good. I think the most expensive thing on the menu is around $32. I had the fish of the day and the beef burger another day. Both were amazing. This is a great little place right in front of the marina. Well done, Schnappers.

I visited this spot during my Northland trip. I stopped here to see the marina and came here fir breakfast. I must say, the staff here has some amazing customer service skills. The waitstaff who was serving me was extremely polite and patient. The food was also good and the coffee was great! Would highly recommend and visit again during my next trip! Cheers

Came with my husband for dinner, I ordered the lamb and it was spectacular! Presentation was just beautiful and the flavours were simply amazing. My husband had the fish of the day with couscous and was very happy. Atmosphere is great, nice decor and friendly staff, too bad we were at Tutukaka just for 1 day or I would dine at this place as often as I could!

Had such a lovely evening.....managing restaurants myself I would be so pleased to have passionate staff like this! The staff are so accommodating FRIENDLY AND Patient Love this place and even have blankets when cold. The best ceviche I have ever had...thanks Mike for your service..just outstanding!

Too many flies around All over everything and very highly priced

A perennial favourite for our family, well worth the drive from town out to Tutukaka. Good variety on the menu, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Kid friendly, but with enough tables spread around the restaurant for an intimate date night away from families. Summer time sees al fresco dining with an outdoor band gently playing. Well worth it.

Good food especially the Hapuka special. Only disappointment was the bread & butter pudding - stodgy, no raisins, tiny piece of pear - not worth anything like the $15 paid for it

Always a nice spot to sit and drink. The waiter was friendly but not attentive. The kids fish (and chips) came covered in pepper, so we had to send it back. The beef burger was pretty awful and smelt like cheap sausage meat. I only ate half of it.

Lovely restaurant with alfresco dining options. I had the clam and mussle chowder which was packed full of fresh seafood and delicious. The service was good at a busy time of the year. My boyfriend had a vegetarian version of a beef burger that was adapted for him and was tasty as well. Our only suggestion is that the restaurant adds more vegetarian options to the menu and indicates on the menu which meals can be swapped to vege.

After a lovely day scuba diving at the Poor Knights Islands with some good mates, there was no better complementing factor than a bar that served a comprehensive list of Tutukaka wines! The bar has a very relaxed vibe with fantastic outdoor seating. The local wines are also a very nice touch! A favourite of mine was the Sailfish Cove winery Rose. Furthermore the staff are very pleasant and are very attentive.

Been there last night for a dinner. The place wasnt busy inside but we were told by a server that they have table for us but only until 7:30pm ( fair enough it was 6:10 - enough time to eat). Another server ( with two braids) came to our table and again repeated YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO LEAVE BEFORE 7:30..WE NEED THAT TABLE. We again politely agreed. We ordered two starters ( garlic bread and chicken liver pate). Garlic bread was a tiny French baguette with a bit of flavour. Chicken liver pate was very good and tasty. Mains were porkbelly and beef steak. Porkbelly was 5* cooked. Very well done. Steak suppost to be medium rare was more to well-done but that is ok. Bernaise sauce had texture of mayo but the result was good. We wanted to ask for dessert menu ( the time was 7:05). The same server came and said WELL YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO BE OUT AT 7:30. We started to be annoyed that we decided not to get any dessert. At 7:25 the server came AGAIN!! And said “you guuuys we really need the table”. I understand that people have reservations but being so annoying to a customer who has over 90mins to enjoy their meal. Feeling pressured and not welcomed isnt a nice thing. We spent around 120$ between 2 of us. So recommend the food but for sure not some of the staff!

The service is lacking, had to go in to find a server to take our order and it was not busy at all. However, awesome food- the chicken lover parfait was AMAZING, one of the best I’ve ever had. Would be back for sure.

Food was great, staff were friendly and location was superb. I do however think they need to work on getting a kids meal list on the menu. This would have made my kids and my wallet happier

Beautiful spot with charm, atmosphere, top service and interesting menu. Will return and enjoy an evening out there in the Summer as lovely outlook to marina across the road. So lucky to have this in our area.

Food was really good .We stopped for a bite to eat and the nachos were fantastic with a cold beer . So we went back for dinner , oh my it was worth going back for ,so tomorrow it's back for afternoon dessert time .

Funky and hip little restaurant on the Tutukaka Coast 😊 Staff were ok could have been a little more welcoming and inviting and positive 🤔 Food was delish ... i had Garlic Bread ( 1 serving would be ideal for 2 people) Eye Fillet (super delish really wanted to order a side of eggs but didnt ... i will next time as we will be visiting again soon for my mother in-laws bday dinner) my hubby had Mussles (which were a little small and overcooked) but the thai sauce it was they were coated with was absolutely devine and his chicken main was nice too. Would be great if the had Steinlager Pure not just classic 😁

Impressive menu. The food was a little different and well prepared. Great value for money. Also a great setting - to be recommended.

Was disappointed with both the meal size and the service, the waitress asked us to take a seat, she would be back to take our order, husband ended up going to the counter to order, meals came in good time, the waitress delivered our meals said, oh I did try to get back to you. Certainly wasn't busy, maybe more team on would help.

Food beautifully cooked but portion sizes seemed small(4 sm tspoons of kokoda in a lettuce leaf with lots of tortilla chips-but lovely tasting chips)and hapuka on rice lots of rice snd 2 small pces of hapuka( perfectly cooked).also felt rushed which would have been fine on a busy summers day with cues waiting at the door but on a chilly spring nite with half the tables empty-i was a bit disappointed

My local. They know my name. :) Great food, fresh Pacific Rim cuisine, locally sourced, thoughtful wine selection. Order the oysters if they are on the Specials Board - and the same with the Hapuka. It is where I hang out when I am not working.

A nice place to sit outside in summer whilst having a feed and drink

Waitress didn't come back to tell us the beer my husband ordered wasn't available, we had to ask someone else. A little disorganized.

Not the cheapest place in northland to eat, but quality food and attentive staff! Used to take all my friends here on the bike for the views alone!
