Amazing food. Consistently good. Very friendly staff.
B.
We had a delicious meal at Tonic, food was very tasty. Definitely going back again. Nice size portions so we got to eat the whole three courses. Great service, nice and attentive without being over the top.
L.
I was so impressed with the food and service at Tonic. Went for a Xmas staff meal just recently and it was exceptional! Highly highly recommend the Salmon on Avocado hash, the pork belly just melted in the mouth, and the toffee creme brulee was out of this world! For such a small kitchen and crew they catered a party of 25 flawlessly!

Bit disappointing, same degustation menu as in the past 2 to 3 years menu needs to change. Entree and desert very nice but the soup and beef cheek dishes way to salty, also to much mash potato. Needs some changes.
Dine at Tonic 2 to 3 times a year..

Tasty food in good quantities, a nice dinner.
Particularly enjoyed the goats cheese & walnut entree.
D.

Went to Tonic for a birthday treat, and a treat it was. Managed 3 courses and enjoyed each one. My partner said the pistachio goats cheese starter was glorious, and I loved the dark chocolate marquise with praline crusted liquorice ice cream. Sticky date pudding was great but could have done with a little more coconut ice cream. Fairly pricey but lots of work going in to each meal. Could have done with a candle or two.

Awesome food. Simply the best quality with great service.

Absolute divine food and exceptional waitress skills, this place needs more exposure. The owner is so caring for his guests we were in a large group and no taxis were available for over an hour, he offered to drop us back to our hotel, as we were the last to leave and they were closing. And the lamb shank I had was amazing it was just falling off the bone. That meal has set a new level for me. Thankyou for the mouth watering experiences I would highly recommend this place

Great food, we ordered a main course each, no entrée. Was pleasantly surprised to get complimentary bread and a bowl of olives. The service was good, the prices a little high for the bottle of wine but we didn't finish it anyway and could have ordered by the glass. The wine was good but I was driving and my partner only felt like one glass full.

Arrived for lunch with two friends, on our way north from Auckland. Very friendly and efficient service from our waitress, Shannon. Excellent Thai chicken salad (my choice), friends were equally pleased with their order of fish, which was cooked to perfection. A very enjoyable experience!

Food and service was excellent. A little on the expensive side but worth it
J.

Food was lovely, really nice little place to eat.
B.
Excellent food at very fair pricing. I would rate our last visit as the best service i have ever had in whangarei. The waitress was very attentive clearing dishes as they needed to be and offer to fill our drinks as they got to the end but was yet very un intrusive in the way she did so
R.
Really enjoyed the menu, friendly service will return.
J.
Absolutely beautiful food and great service. Creative and perfectly cooked. We could not fault our 5 course degustation menu. Well done and we will be back
C.
Service was fantastic! Food absolutly amazing. Easily the best piece of steak I have eaten in my life. Waiter was very attentive. Was not expecting that from such a small shop
B.
Excellent Sunday night set menu dinner last night at Tonic celebrating our anniversary. Lovely, creative, perfectly executed selections, the main beef dish, which we both chose, was delicious, balanced mise en place without any hauture. All that means it was scrumptious and artfully arranged, but not “over the top”, and we did not want to leave any sauce left in that big, beautiful bowl. The side of roast root veggies were a savoury/sweet complement and the Toffee crème brulée was a perfect ending.
Highest recommendations for a fine meal and a great value.

When the young waitress described the "notchy" I was a little concerned. The "notchy" was up there with the best ive ever had. When she asked if I minded they served the lamb rack med rare I said of course not! It was served med-well but still a very tasty dish with the nicest ratatouille ive had. Great meal .
S.

Fabulous food, always cooked to perfection. I find you usually need to book, as without a booking it's not easy to get a table. Lovely intimate setting, friendly service, we love tonic!

If I want a Foodie experience, I come to Tonic. You would be hard pressed to dine here and not find something absolutely delicious!
Brave flavor combinations with a Kiwi twist. The menu is constantly evolving, but you can often find the crowd pleasing staples.
