Enjoyable high tea here on lower Cuba Street— served and produced by students of Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand. On level 2 by reception, you can see the students learning either Cuisine or Pâttiserie classical French techniques taught by chef tutors. On level 3 you can enjoy High Tea or 3-10 course lunch and dinners during their Brasserie week. I highly recommend for those wanting a high-quality meal for an affordable price. Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand is one of the top culinary schools in the country, and also run their own restaurant once at the end of each term allowing the public to taste and see student creations.

Just had a three course lunch served and cooked by students of the school. What a great afternoon of well cooked and beautifully served food. Our server Brian did a stunning job. The chefs of the day equally so. We can't wait to go back.

Small school but incredibly well organized and run. All of my questions were answered and I got to see the teaching in action through the large windows. All of the students were busily preparing something but they all seemed like they were relaxed and enjoying the work. The instructor chef was really helpful and friendly with the students which helps a lot. They have a lot of different programs on offer here and I was thoroughly impressed with my visit.

Fantastic High Tea done by the students. Delicious food and drinks. You can sense the nervouseness of some of the students, but all in all fabulous job, well done to them!

Thank you chef and students for such an amazing evening last night. Your 7 course dinner was absolutely beautiful and we really enjoyed every mouthful from each dish. I struggled with the last two dishes but I managed to finish them all as I wanted to taste each dish. The presentations were fantastic. The waiter was so friendly and the service was great. Keep up the good work 👌

Attended the last degustation dinner at Le Cordon Bleu NZ and what an amazing evening. Ten courses with matching wines all delivered by very talented students both from the kitchen and front of house. Generous servings for a degustation both from a food and wine perspective. Apart from a few dishes the food was outstanding. Stand out dishes for me were an entree dish of delicate asparagus mouse with parmesan crisp base and gremolata. Another stand out was the Amuse Bouche of cured and smoked kingfish with orange and soy dressing with sago crisp. Heavenly. Sadly the main fish dish of snapper was overcooked with rubbery skin (any skin left on fish should be crisp and golden) and I found a number of scales in my fish. The lady at the table next to us was delivered fish that was almost raw. Although it was a beautifully presented dish with a crisp basket of cauliflower espuma and fried capers, the technique for cooking the fish needs more attention. The duck that followed was, on my plate, seriously overcooked at one end but bordering on perfect at the other. My dinner companion was lucky and her duck was cooked perfectly to her liking. The next standout was a pre-dessert. A delicate white cloud of coconut espuma with a teeny quenelle of matcha icecream all covering a hit of sour cherry gel. It was so delicious we wanted to lick the plates. And then an amazing dessert with a take on caramelized popcorn. Simply delicious. Petit fours were beautifully presented and each one was a pop of flavour to end a superb meal. Wine matching was generous and married well with the dishes.
If you get the opportunity book to attend one of these degustation dinners. You won't be disappointed and the price was very reasonable for such a well executed show of the students talents. Special thanks needs to go to Jade who looked after us superbly in what was a hectic night with full tables. She was attentive without being intrusive, clearly explained each dish and ensured we had a good flow of dishes to our table. She has a bright future in the hospitality industry if she continues with this level of attention to any future guests.

Had lunch at The Bistro, cooked by students and served by students. All in all, food and service was awesome, highly recommend if you can book in. $30 for entree, main and dessert.
