Reviews of Wing Tsun Academy

This martial arts gwun has such a good atmosphere. The teachers push you to improve while also making sure you go at a pace you can handle. There are fitness classes as well as the wing tsun classes.

I've been training here for almost two and a half years. I've really benefitted from a inclusive and non-aggressive learning environment, it's allowed me to become much more confident in confrontational situations and be much more grounded in myself.
The two teachers who run the gwoon have a lot of experience and understanding about Wing Tsun, and there's also fitness and flexibility classes to compliment the training.
It's really welcoming for people of all walks of life, whether you're a beginner to martial arts or have been doing it for some time. And it's really welcoming for women too! It can be daunting getting into a martial art but I really trust the teachers and the people I train with. Would definitely recommend.

My two children attended the children's class Saturday mornings and enjoyed the style of instruction as delivered by Sifu Zhou. The class offered fitness training and all the basics of martial arts that one would expect but in a kid friendly, fun and engaging manner. Sifu Zhou was very creative and each session differed in the way the students practiced the same elements of Wing Tsun. The dojo is very well resourced in tools that assist students to develop Wing Tsun. I recommend the academy highly.

If you want to learn martial arts or simply have a place to train, you should have a look into this wing tsun academy. I felt more than welcome during my time in wellington and am more than sad to leave back to my home town.
Try the free introduction class if you want to join.
The WT-classes are well structured and additional to the physical exercises you are teached the spiritual aspects of Wing Tsun.
You can choose quite flexible what you want to do. They offer beginner classes 3 times per week. Additionally you can take some hiit workouts or martial art trainings.
Furthermore advanced philosophy or personal trainings.
Pizzaday and summerfest were some of my Highlights. Thank you so much for having me.

I have been training at the Wing Tsun Academy for around two years and find it very rewarding. Sifu Zhoe is an excellent teacher and has a great rapport with the children in the children classes. Come along if you want to discover the power within you.

After several years of training at the Wing Tsun Academy I can vouch for it being a friendly, embracing gwun - with a solid community of people from all walks of life. WTA takes kung fu seriously and doesn't cut corners; the Sifu's are uncompromising in their desire to create good martial artists and teach the Wing Tsun system. The Academy combines elements of traditional Shaolin kung fu with an emphasis on fitness, focus, confidence, and effective (non-trivial) martial arts application. I have enjoyed my time there very much and look forwards to many more years of training.

I've been part of the Wing Tsun Academy for more than 2 years.
I can't say anything but good things about it. Not only the Sifu Zhou and Sifu Kuno are are great teachers but the community there is lovely and very diverse.
I've been training martial arts since I'm 7 years old, and had been part of many schools. I trained different arts like Karate, Aikido, Tae kwon do, Ninjitsu, Muay Thai, and also contact sports like Boxing, Kick boxing, Full contact and MMA.
During all that time and training, I found really hard to find serious places where they take martial art and self defence beyond just a sport or a way to boost your ego (by looking good or looking tough), but as a philosophy and a way of living.
Now I'm 34 years old, and thanks to the Wing Tsun Academy and their great teachers, I've been able to unlock potential in my body and brain, that I didn't even know that I had and no other martial art or school could bring to the surface before. Also the teachings had been useful not only for martial arts or training, but for everything in my life, from family and relationships to work.
I won't lie to you. It's the toughest martial art I had ever train, and this is not because of its intense cardio like you get in Boxing or Muay Thai (we have actually seperate classes at the academy for those kind of training that you can do as well), but the level of control of your muscles (all of them, not just the big ones) that you need to have. I had to unlearn how I used to control my body, and pretty much start over like a baby (Now I might be toddler :P).
Sometimes you get bored, specially at the beginning, because you are doing very basic things to rewire your brain, but if you understand the goal and you commit to it, I can assure you will discover a lot more than you expect.
To wrap up, this got pretty big, I can't thank enough to the teachers for everything they do for us and to keep the Academy going.
It had been game changing for me to be part of this community, and I encourage everybody to be part of it.

Kids wing Tsun on a Saturday morning is one of the highlights of the week.
My two girls aged 7 and 10 love it.
We wanted them to start a martial art and Sifu Zhou who runs the class is wonderful with all the kids.
It’s an hour of fun, excersise and of course Kung fu .
It’s building the girls confidence and self defence skills at the same time.
Well worth the money and a great group of parents in attendance too.

I trained here for 2.5 years, soo much fun. WTA is run by two amazing Sifu's who truely care about their students and how they are taught. The content is great and you are taught how to perform it correctly and indepth. The facilities are great, the team is great. I highly reccomend WTA if your interested in learning Wing Tsun.

Very knowledgeable teacher!
I’m taking one on one flexibility lessons (rather than martial arts lessons) and have already learnt a lot of details, tips and new stretches that has helped with my tight hips, lower back and hamstrings. 100% recommended
