L.Really great store. Staff are friendly, good for a chat about whatever you're renting. It's nice to have a store where you can rent movies not available on any streaming service. It beats having to import them. Placing online orders is also quite easy and streamlined.
C.I don't know much about videos but that is one heck of a cool workshop-alley to hang out in.
R.Iconic video store and in my opinion simply the best in the Wellington Region. Amazing collection of titles - it would be hard to believe that they wouldn't have a title that was sought. I recently purchased from Aro St a boxed set of all 6 Stanley Kubrick Dvds and my children begged me to buy them a boxed set of the Star Wars original Trilogy classic films parts IV, V, VI - staff completely knowledgeable on all film genre - very friendly and a place where you could happily spent time browsing at the collections on display.
T.THE go-to video store in Wellington, Aro Video has been around for as long as I can remember, and is still supplying whatever film title you're after. Please support this Welly icon & keep this nostalgic store alive!

F.What a fantastic store. I've been getting DVDs n videos here for 25 years! They get new releases in quickly n have heaps of foreign language movies n classics which I'm now sharing with my son. Helpful staff who give you the heads up when you can't choose. Grab takeaways nearby n you have a great night in sorted. Box sets galore for winter nights. Easily gets 5 stars.
W.And very good video shop, you can order the movies you like. Very helpful shop assistants. We buy something old movies what you can't get nowhere else.
S.The place to come if you're looking for good quality audio visual, in contrast to the lean pickings offered by streamed services. With benefit of highly knowledgeable proprietors who often point me to excellent films I'd never heard of before. Plus, for someone with a hearing impairment (as I have) the ability to turn on subtitles on many of the films is a bonus.
M.Love these guys. Holed up in my Akkers McMansion with a nasty bug I ordered my favourite Italian TV series. It arrivedly quickly n got me through! No VPN dramas n lagging with DVDs! 5 stars!

S.Why not just stream all your movies over the internet? Firstly, you'll struggle to find many of the great titles that they have at Aro Video, and secondly you can't put a value on curatorship and on the chance to talk to knowledgeable, passionate film lovers who can help you find the right movie for you. Plus, the shop is super cosy and a national treasure, so don't miss it!
M.The last place in Wellington where one can rent arthouse movies. The staff is very competent and super friendly. This is more a service to the community than a business. Let's support it!
D.It has a great selection of dvds, and blu ray movies, and television programmes. I have bought a few new, and old rental movies, which are still in playable condition.
A.The phenomenal back catalogue is what makes Aro Video so special. Most of these titles cannot be accessed any other way, and there are so many gems to hunt down. A true treasure to support and cherish!
P.Andrew (the owner) and all the staff are always efficient and polite. Their extensive knowledge of movies is useful when I'm trying to remember a title or looking for a similar movie to one I like. I fell out of the habit of regularly going here years ago after I moved to Upper Hutt from Aro Valley (although I work in Wellington city) then saw in the news (15 months ago) that they were in danger of closing. They started offering quarterly/3 month unlimited rental deals and I bought one and have continued to do so every three months. They are great value as my son and I watch multiple movies (and sometimes a TV series) every week. I regularly walk from work to there at lunchtime or after work to return titles and get new ones (although they also offer a courier/post service around New Zealand).We have watched everything from the latest releases to a movie made 90 years ago. I have caught up with classic films that I somehow never got around to watching, rewatched favourite movies that I haven't seen in ages and watched recommended new films that I missed at the cinema. Aro St Video has 21,000 movie titles & 2,000 TV shows (including a few hundred movies on video that have never been released on DVD). My son and I now have a video player as well so we have started watching those, too! Aro St Video has a far greater selection than any online pay streaming service offers. Plus they have many titles than cannot be obtained at all from Netflix, Lightbox, etc. I hope they continue to stay open for many years yet and I encourage everyone to go and have a look for yourself. Membership is free and you can start by hiring just one weekly rental title or new overnight release (or buy a 10 trip card that offers discounted rentals). In the words of Jackie Chan - "Just do it!"
