Excellent product knowledge and incredibly dedicated to getting you into the right equipment and not into what gives them a big sale. They have always looked after us and it’s always the first place we visit when we need anything outdoor related. A massive thank you to Eddie and the team.
H.Excellent service and knowledge. This place is amazing from the moment you walk through the door. Very friendly crew. I only went in to ask a few questions but eventually left happily spending money with them. Some of the worlds best gear available in New Zealand. Al the touring and backcountry gear you can dream of.
S.Great selection of high quality gear. Specialised backcountry shop with avy gear, splits, etc. also check out the Snowboard Workshop (at the back of the store) if you want your gear tuned to perfection.
G.Bought a very sought after backpack which was not available anywhere else (NZ or online, it appeared). SPS packaged up and sent it promptly to me in Auc. The price was great too, which made this buy a real bonus! Very happy with the service. In QT at the moment and will be visiting them shortly.

M.Small Planet is THE BEST OUTDOOR SHOP (and it's independently owned)!! The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and passionate about adventuring in the outdoors. The range of gear is amazing, from skiing, climbing, camping and everything inbetween.
M.I’ve been buying ski gear from Small Planet, for over a decade - they have great options for me and the family at all price points.
The staff really know their stuff and will work tirelessly to get boots fitting properly. I recently had some new gear fail (not their fault) and they worked with the importer to get an amazing resolution.
In these days of sterile corporate outdoor stores it is awesome to be able to support a genuinely local crew!

D.This is the place to go for expert advice on gear. The staff are extremely experienced and helpful. They spent literally hours with us to sort out a ski touring set up. You pay more than online but you pay for their time experience and it's a small locally owned company..

B.By far the best outdoor equipment store in Queenstown. I've visited all of them. Small Planet has knowledgeable staff who offers real advice and help you find the right product. In the other stores, many of the salespeople are transient young travellers who simply cannot offer the same level of expertise.
C.Astoundingly these guys seem to be the only outdoor store in Queenstown who actually know their stuff. Eddie was super helpful and was happy to spend a loooong time helping me choose the the right boots - had a comprehensive answer for every question I asked and heaps of advice and tips. Will be a returning customer!

C.Really the only place in town with a wide selection for climbing and a decent second hand winter skis/boards. But high on price but it’s standard in queenstown plus they only provide good quality and better Custer service/support.

N.Helpful staff with a large selection. There are two stores next two each other under the same name, with the left one focused on snowboarding (and separate rental shop upstairs) and the larger store on the right more focused on skiing (I believe) and general outdoor gear.
T.Most knowledgeable staff in town. I must have called over 10 places trying to find fuel for my MSR Whisperlite stove. Nobody had a clue what I was talking about, but tried to sell me something else. A gentleman at this store kindly informed me that you can only buy white gas (it has other names too) at petrol stations in New Zealand. Never would I have thought to look there. I wanted to hug him, but instead I wrote this review.
