Reviews of Bivouac Outdoor Wellington
P.
Everything I needed for tramping was there. Great varieties of outdoor products. I bought a burner, gas, ready made food and a pillow. I love this shop and will shop there again.
w.
Great store, lovely attention. The staff is great and always keen to help
J.
Had a lovely experience at this store on Saturday with staff member, Julie, who was extremely patient and very helpful in my ongoing quest for finding a new pack.
E.
I would highly recommend this store. I want to say a huge thank you to the guy (I forgot to get his name, but he will know who he is!) who was so patient and thorough in helping me pick out boots for my blister prone feet today. It is so important to have someone with actual experience and knowledge when investing in a pair of boots. It was clear that the customer being happy and comfortable in their chosen product was more important to him than making a sale. He even taught me a new lacing technique to help with my blisters! If you are looking for a pair of boots I would definitely recommend this store.
Y.
Purchased Keen walking shoes. They had to order from another shop. Great service.
S.
Fantastic, incredibly helpful and informative. The lady told us so much useful information and insights about different hiking boots, and was genuinely friendly - I'm sorry, I've forgotten her name but she had short blonde hair. Such a nice experience, something that you don't get from online shopping, and hard to come by while shopping in person. Big thanks!
N.
Great service, knowledgeable staff. Go to Bivouac if you really want to know about what you are or should be buying. As far as I am aware can order most stuff or buy on line from their website. Great supporters of the Tararua Tramping Club 😃
C.
Good variety of stuff and in a good shop area
J.
Great service. The staff are keen outdoors enjoyers who have a lot of knowledge.
D.
Great Outdoor shop! The staff are really friendly and have a strong knowledge of the outdoors and all the equipment they sell. I have been back many a time to buy hiking equipment. They sell a lot of different brands which is good for us when choosing clothing. Would definitely recommend buying from here and if you need returns for faulty items they are very helpful.
S.
They've got an elaborate variety of things to choose from and products along a wide price range. If you're looking for a discount or sale keep a look out by midwinter for end of season discounts.
They have possibly the widest variety of sleeping bags in Wellington town which itself does not have much to offer apart from Kathmandu, Amazon and a few other surfing shops.
The staff is helpful kind and always smiling. :)
G.
Knowledgeable staff and good range of camping and tramping gear, usually have my preferred Salomon shoes, and support Oxfam donations.
K.
Great spot, really helpful staff who fitted us for the backpacks we were after even though we said to begin with that we'd be purchasing in Auckland so they knew they wouldn't make a sale from us.
A lot bigger than it looks from the outside and they keep some stock in the back, so if something you want is missing, do ask them - they might have it.
J.
Very helpful staff
They are happy to take their time and offer you right advice and product for your needs 🤠

We made a six-hour round trip to buy new tramping boots at the Wellington Bivouac shop--it was worth it. We called ahead to make sure the boots we wanted to try on were available and staff were helpful in assisting with that -- and then spent an hour or more pulling out many, many boots in different sizes for each of us to try, giving some good advice and leaving us with space and time to come to a decision. Later, the manager was fantastic to deal with when the Anatom boots my partner bought quickly started to fall apart. Anatom were lacklustre about backing their products and Bivouac stepped into the breach. End of story was the boots were couriered back to us, repaired. Very happy with Bivouac, wouldn't buy Anatom's gear again.
I've previously been very happy with staff here, who managed to locate and deliver to me the last pair in the country in my size of something I'd been wanting for ages. The company stocks good gear and its inventory system is reliable. Its website is great. Overall, I like the company a lot and am particularly grateful to the Wellington store team. Great place to shop if you need good gear.

Haven't been able to get to their shop yet.I'm interested in going there as they are the agents for "Osprey Packs". Only viewed their website. Will update when I visit their store. Hope they're genuine. 😊
A.
Great knowledgeable people, patience with one dithering about on what tramping boots to get, cheers from me :)
R.
Easily the most helpful staff for outdoor kit advice in wellington - check them out if youre looking around for sure
D.
Knowledgable staff who were friendly and helpful. Great variety of brands and you can get some real bargains here. I also like that they support the Oxfam Trailwalker here in NZ. And their womens range isn't limited to the pinks, pastels and purple that some adventure gear stores insist on stocking. Wide variety of colours.
B.
Great staff - super friendly and very helpful. I've had great experience dealing with them and would happily recommend them to anyone.
J.

I.

My beloved macpac Torres, the original 80 L internal frame pack that has served me well for at least 30 years has got to the point in my decrepit 50s I can't handle it no more. Bivouac just sold me a 65 L osprey Altos, and it feels AMAZING. I can't wait to load it up and try it out. The gravity belt feels incredible, and all the features and compartments are so cool. Bivouac is a terrfic outlet carrying great products that serve us well. Great advice and fitting THANKS.
