Likely the best countdown store in Taranaki, wide variety of products and produce, the Bakery area could have been bigger if an aisle was taken away from the big alcohol area. The staff here are always friendly and happy to help

Nice clean well set out store. Friendly staff and customers. What a shame when you call the 0800 number to sort out a lost card, to transfer onto a new one. Waited too long 3 times for an operator. Not good customer service at all. The 0800 number gets a one star.

All good found what I was looking for and a few bargains to boot glad to see that the express self service checkouts are there. I like them purely for their convenience it it's got nothing to do with not wanting to interact with a checkout operator. I do that when I have a trolley full and they're all lovely. I have also used the online shopping and collected from the supermarket. The ladies are polite and helpful

It can be pricey but sometimes it can be cheap too. If you are picky on what you pay for then google for cheap item from pak n save, new world and others. But for this suburb, its all in one place, rebel, torpedo7, mitre10 etc. Got good places to eat too for example subway, coffee shop and indian cuisine.

Great shop this morning taking our elderly friend shopping but on reaching the check out operator thats where things turned pear-shaped! (A) she ignored us while we put his groceries on the conveyor didnt say a word and appeared grumpy .even our elderly friend noticed it . Loaded the groceries into the bags still without a word not even a hello overloaded some of the bags despite us having plenty if it was me i wouldnt be back but this is where our friend loves to shop .by the way the staffmember has been with you for a long time .

When I want good deals on coffee beans, olive oil, milk powder, spices, wine and beer ... it's off to Countdown The Valley. It's very clean and bright and the checkout operators very friendly. It's not my only go to market and I would use it more if another was a wee bit more convenient. Veggies, deli, bakery and meats are all very clean, well laid out and having good selection.

Always good customer service plus good variety of products. Another awesome thing about countdown is the availability with medication and medicine's with their pharmacy. I will only suggest to have one or two more parking spaces for soon to be mums or mothers with new borns. Also having more capsule trolleys available by the baby car park.

Our regular but not exclusive supermarket stop for our weekly shop. Finding that prices not as competitive as they were and will be changing to Pacnsave because of the $ with special items from New World who now seem to be cheaper than Countdown.

One of my favourite grocery stores. It is large and everything is well set out. The customer service is excellent and the checkout operators are friendly and helpful. In addition to groceries there is a one card reward system and a lotto kiosk. You can also buy online as they have a click and collect system. Very handy if you are unwell or pushed for time.

Just another countdown. Bakery is more populated than the spotswood one, things aren't in the same places as the city center and spotswood one tho. Same stuff. Good parking and real accessible.

Friendly, helpful staff. Products not always in stock, especially those which are advertised as being on special. V large store, wide aisles but also a fair distance to cover from start to finish. High shelf is a tad too high for anyone vertically challenged, like myself.

My regular go to supermarket when in NP shopping. Usually get all that I want there. One question why do you not stock NEW ZEALAND made products over imported ones like Omega Plus Dog Kibble..have to buy on line where we should be accessing through our supermarkets..shame on you store buyers for letting this happen.

Very well stocked supermarket, fruit and veg section always fresh, more checkouts opened promptly if more customers start to queue. It's my favourite place to do my weekly shopping. A plus is the "free fruit for kids" basket which is now always has a variety of fruit and the two-seater trolleys for kids. There is also the option of a car-shaped trolley with a video to entertain, which costs $2 added at the checkouts.

Was disappointed with the lack of customer service at the serve-over deli when buying pasta salad recently. The staff member was talking & laughing with other team members, not concentrating or listening to what I was requesting. Having to repeat myself for her to do her job properly is not a good look! ☹️

Countdown here is quite popular but the layout if different to normal supermarkets which always gets me confused.. and they dont have self service checkouts which makes the express lane the longest waiting supermarket que in town.

The Valley has many shops I need to pop into & Countdown is one. I am mobility challenged & I SO wish that a place for a few small trolleys close to the disabled car parks would be made available. A simple sign stating that "these trolleys are for the use of our disabled customers" wld make many disabled folk so happy & maybe give Countdown The Valley the edge over other New Plymouth supermarkets.

Needs more attention to the leaking roof, watch out for slippery floors with heavy rain. Other than that they recently got self serve which helps with the rush hours and sunny days but still has queues, and their average prices are a lot higher than Pak n Save
