Both shops reasonably stocked for their sizes placed very convenient if living or staying in Opunake or nearby, costs maybe a little higher than the big supermarkets but the cost and distance too drive far out ways this. If you drive to Hawera or New Plymouth you'd have to do a very large bulk shop to allow for the AA estimated cost of driving your car at around $1.10 per kilometer. Best to support the local shops otherwise they maybe lost.
