This store has a fantastic deli, it has a better selection most countdowns for meat. There is a reasonable selection throughout the store despite being a smallish store. They sell wine and have lots of convenience foods. The staff are friendly and offer good service here.

As I was in Self Isolation after my recent trip to the UK,I decided to register for online shopping with Countdown here in Taupo. Couldn't have asked for a more efficient service if I tried. Big "Thumbs up" to the Staff!

Always find the staff to be very pleasant, helpful and friendly. This evening we went through self checkout. New screens have been installed at the scanners. They are a safety risk to customers. The height and placement is clumsy and I turned and hit my shoulder. I saw a lady bend down and stand up and bang her head on the overhang. These screens are absolutely unnecessary and will cause injuries to customers. The H&S Manager needs to look at these please

Busy busy, but still friendly greetings and staff are happy to help you find whatever you can't find. I go through the self check out, so everything was satisfying and easy for me.Thank you Countdown Staff.

Shop here nearly every week due to paknsave not stocking products i like, they are pricier over paknsave for a general weekly shop and i dont like the skinny ailes so you cant keep a 2 metre distance from other customers but their staff are friendly and efficient

Always a good experience shopping at Countdown Taupo great staff very helpful and friendly nice clean shop well laid out. Usually easy parking depending on time of day great parking for Motorhomes when other cars haven't parked in them.

Was absolutely terrible today, New Years Day 2022, unlike every other experience I've had here. Staff totally unable to cope yet it was quite compared to every other day we've shopped here this Xmas holiday . I ended up just walking out, leaving my shopping basket at the checkout.

Well, it's a supermarket where I usually go for my weekly shop. In taupo we only have countdown and paknsave. What can you say about a supermarket? But I always find the staff helpful and friendly.

The shelves were empty. All staff were super friendly

It is a small supermarket but it's always well stocked. Their backed section is almost always fresh. The deli has a wide selection of meats and other platter stuff. Not to mention the 3 for $20 section is always well stocked with a variety of product. Staff are helpful and efficient. They also do a quiet time in the afternoons

All good, bit tricky to find stuff first time around

Just a polite request for the store to have some shopping time available for those folks over 65 with a gold card. We cannot wait for an online slot for a delivery. We feel vulnerable and would like a quiet hour one or two mornings a week from 8-9 am. Just during the lock down. This could be similar to your Wed. Quite hour. Please consider a local response.

A bit pricey but I got most of what I needed

Well, it's a supermarket where I usually go for my weekly shop. In taupo we only have countdown and paknsave. What can you say about a supermarket? But I always find the staff helpful and friendly.

Usually get great service. Some staff are arrogant and rude. On a whole, not bad. We could use one in Turangi as New World can be ridiculously expensive and I have made previous complaints about misleading the customer. Fallen on deaf ears. The owner did not take responsibility. Even though he was at fault.

Very busy. Very friendly chatty staff. Despite super busy for an Easter Saturday Parking was a breeze. Queues flowed through the check outs so no long waits. Done and dusted in no time . Yippee 😁 This Aucklander very impressed.

I get annoyed with unclear pricing eg pumpkin pieces, no price. Where are the cheaper bananas?? Bought 2 potatoes, $1.80 I think and one was rotten. I love the friendly staff there, maybe more staff required to tidy up loose ends!!!

Not a bad Countdown, but hasn't changed it's floor layout in well over 30 years. Quite cramped. Friendly staff and reasonable product selection. Terrible carpark, feels like it's in dire need of a reseal and layout change.

Countdown stock some items I can't buy elsewhere. They also have a soft plastic recycling bin.

My partner purchased a bunch of flowers for me from this store. Upon opening, they were unfortunately very damaged. I contacted the central Countdown customer team who advised me to head in to the store for either replacement or refund. I was not then expecting a personal call from the store manager, Jess, who, when I arrived at the store, came and met with me, had the refund ready, replaced the items and also gave me a box of chocolates to apologise. This was customer service at it's best. Thank you for taking such a personal interest.

Well worth a visit. Fantastic photo opportunities from various vantage points within a short walk of the car park. Various walks also around the lake if you would like to spend more time there. So glad we went there and recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Always found staff helpful Aisles much better to walk down. Variety of products good. Love being able to do shopping on internet and the delivery staff always bright and helpful. My one complaint is that the small trolleys have no hook where one can hang a shopping trundle on which PaknSave have. This hook keeps clients trundle off the floor and keeps hands free to push trolley.

Quick shop here, store well laid out, staff at checkout could have shown they may be actually enjoying their job, but then it was possibly just too busy

Shot in for some rolls and meat for lunch. Store was well presented and staff had a smile on their faces. That alone is a miracle these days. Good store for a quick lunch pick up or for a full shop.

This store is overdue for a re-build and expansion! Has the basics plus a bit of international and wider selection of some types of products. Sometimes the veg & fruit is a bit sad but the deli is very good.

A very condensed countdown. Down some aisles there were boxes whilst they were unpacking food, they made no effort to clear a path and keep things somewhat tidy. Even so the countdown had a bunch of deals which were very nice.

You can find a little more options in some foods, veggies or fruits than Pack n Save, but is a little more expensive. The self pay boxes are great if you are buying less than 15 things.

Only 3 self service checkouts open at a busy time of the afternoon. Queues growing

Not a very big bakery or hot food counter, only the hot chickens... I found the lay out a bit hickley pickley, small isles , for a supermarket to market a tourist town quite frankly, it doesn't.

Some staff are so helpful many thanks to them some others are only there to collect their wages id say. For an old store it trys its best but a major overhaul is much need to come in line with other Countdown stores in New Zealand

Lovely store loads of products, the young man who served me was so helpful.

Typical supermarket with everything you would need. The service is great. The only downside would be the intersection to get out of the carpark. Not impossible, as courteous drivers let you out, but only about to turn Sth, not Nth. No big problem though.

Countdown is just another supermarket - the one in Taupo is supposed to be their busiest but they don't really stock a great variety of things unless it's their own brand. Maybe it was just the day I went in but hmmm only two tills open and the 12 items and under till had no one there to serve you. They have a very poor selection of fish in the fresh fish section - I use Pak'nSave for my fresh fish.

For such a remote place with little capacity for production of meat and vegetables, the produce is generally better than that available at any other countdown in neighbouring areas.

Wonderful service at the lotto counter. Store itself has become "tired", bordering on "old", but realistically I know it would take a fortune to revitalise it. Prices are ok and range of product is fine

Today, I went into COUNTDOWN and I found all the Specials I needed. Even though it was very busy, being Easter of course, Service was very Quick and Friendly. The Staff at Taupo COUNTDOWN are very friendly and Helpful, and I enjoy Shopping there.

ok for a supermarket. Larger size packets of anything are almost non existent as both supermarkets only sell smaller portions for the tourists. What about the locals and farmers. Staff need to make way for customers. Not barge thru. This has been my bug bare with Countdown and Pak n Save here in Taupo. This building needs to move to a new location as it contributes massively to taupo congestion

Same as all the others in nz except no seniors card discount day which is unbelievable and has led me to investigate the paknsave option. Countdown do deliver to kinloch

Does not have full range of products, like a big city Countdown. However staff Friendly & helpful.

Good supermarket. 1KG of creamed honey for $14. Way better price than in Auckland

Nice selection of fresh vegetables, perhaps more variety than the other Countdowns in Napier and Rotorua. Very familiar shopping experience to a traveling American.

Located near the lakefront with plenty of off street parking. Internally a little dated and slightly cramped. Checkout staff were obliging and helpful.

Countdown Taupo is easy to find, as you come over the control gates heading south. You will see it.on the left hand side before the roundabout. Good variety of general grocery items. Prices generally a bit more expensive than Pak n Save but a really good place to shop. Plenty of parking and often the checkout queues are shorter than Pak n Save.

One of the many Countdown food malls in New Zealand. This one is in Taupo. As all Countdown malls, this one also all food varieties. Fresh fruit and vegetables. Cheese, butter and all dairy products. Packaged food bread. Good collection of wines and beers

Small but good store. Shelves do empty out near the end of the day and the car park is cramped and a bit confusing now they have changed the lines in the carpark.

Good supermarket, can get most things we needed. It was height of holiday season so some shelves were empty. Store is clean and tidy.

Parking was terrible difficult to get out of and no lighting outside that I could see. Inside it was very compact and there seemed to be no order to where things were difficult to find some things to random for my liking

A tidy small town store that becomes a blocked artery heaving with people who haven't had to share space before, small town people become aggressive and impatient that people from out of town choose to come here.

We are from India and on a visit to New Zealand . Me and my wife love to shop here . Earlier we were at The Awamutu and currently here with our daughter's family .

Countdown is now my favourite grocery store in NZ! But the entry to the car park here is a challenge!

The paella balls were outstanding! No wait, and the help was excellent. The scallop tapas were very good, as was the rack of lamb.

Been here a few times love it. It reminds me of what Papakura Countdown was like 10 ten years ago.

We use the home delivery service and have never been disappointed if there is something that is not in stock the staff always ring to see what alternatives we may like. We have always found the staff friendly and helpful.

Bigger place than you think but probably because the everything is scattered around the store. It takes a bit of skill to find what you need.

Had everything we needed...typical Supermarket vibe going on. This is the only supermarket that closes at 11pm in Taupo. There is also a Pak n Save but that closes at 10pm.
