This was a 5/5 great supermarket. Great staff, facility and access. The first two still remain true but they seem to have ongoing problems with the gates and the travellator. It seems they don’t care about fixing these at this point.

Countdown is probably one of the best food stores out there, they sell the most exquisite food ever. The staff are an easy job to buy the food with, and they have a amazing service. Countdown has lots of food very helpful for anytime, and if there are any bored children, there is a small place for them. I think Countdown is an amazing supermarket that is very helpful lots of times.

Always stop here for groceries in Wellington. Love the St Pierres sushi below and the soft plastic recycling. Good deals too.

Very nice supermarket, it was the first time I have visited and I couldn't work out if it was recently refurbished or a new store. The layout is nice, a market-like feel through the produce and bakery area. Awesome range of products, and a decent sized chemist. I wish all countdowns were this nice .

Newtown countdown is great .I have no problems with it at all . It's never rude . Provides me with 90% of the food I need. I'd even date some of the staff . Which I honestly think is never gonna happen .

Pretty good for a corporate mega store running at the expense of everyone around it. Reinvented layout with wider aisles and much more open space, though I believe it's required due to heavy traffic at peak times.

From outside the shop looks small but it's actually huge as any other countdown store and has almost everything you need for your daily grocery. The wine, fruits and vegetables and meat section is good. The other items are not very properly labelled so you might need to search or ask for her otherwise it is good. Parking is available at the basement.

Very good for what I needed too get at the time as certain supermarkets In all area provide different stock depending on where I am at the time being...

Our go to grocery store, staff are always polite and patient, has everything, parking is easy, cafe inside, can't go wrong. Pak n save is cheaper but it's a bit more stressful and doesn't have as much range so you get what you pay for.

Good place for shopping specially at the night time because not many people around so you will more enjoy your time, but try to avoid afternoon time will be long queue at that time.

I love this countdown it is the best in the country i wish there was a 10 star option it is so superior the bakery section is absolute fire

Fancy-as after the reno, feels more like new world. Be aware that the shop is very busy and many shelves are empty later on in the day. If you are able to, I would recommend shopping during the day. I do wish there were more sensory-friendly time slots during the week - one is not really enough, especially since it falls within business hours.

Often visited as at hospital supporting friend. Pleased to find 600gm stevia sweetener containers as use a lot of the smaller ones. Handy and also has lotto. Food good as hospital wishbone cafe is ultra expensive and large carton takeaway size hot food shocking price. Enjoyed cruising aisles and hunting for specials e.g found chicken mince.

Everything possible available and loves the layout. Fresh vegetables, Yummy Deli, Meat and so many more. Loves the wide isles to walk in. Its always a pleasure to visit Countdown Newtown Wellington

Very impressed. Even though the store was shut for a Covid deep cleanse yesterday (Sat), my pre ordered Click and Collect order was ready at 10 am this morning (Sun). Thanks Countdown staff.

Hard to find a way into the car park but it's stoked and good prices for the city area

Changes every time I come so confusing.. Layout is strange and creates weird feng shui

Great variety, pharmacy in store too. Plenty of parking, and accessible by bus as well. Food court outside of the store, public toilets available, please ask the staff for access, open until midnight, 7 days a week.

One of the new format Countdowns. Great range of groceries. Ample parking with convenient ingress/egress on different streets. Nearby eateries (cafe, sushi & burger joints) round up the location.

I went into this Countdown and it very spacious. Not too many people made things easier. Good car parking inside the building. Also a great range of products that you would expect of a major supermarket.

Awesome supermarket. The makeover has made it way nicer and more chill too. The staff are honestly the best and they are all so helpful friendly and non-judgmental which means a lot to me as a trans person with mental illnesses who often feels extremely anxious about going out in public even for small errands. The Pharmacy staff have been lovely too and the click and collect and delivery are such game changers - one suggestion for the future would be to work with WINZ to try to provide free delivery to people who are financially struggling and unable to get to the supermarket physically I think that would be a great way to help out more people in the community. Great place great people 10/10

Was there at 6 this morning n notice one shopper not having a mask on but was not stopped by staff to put one on. There should be a staff at the entrance monitoring this!!.. I love shopping here but very disappointed about this as this is a mandatory thing!!!.

Everything you need. Three levels with massive two story underground carpark.

Clean tidy. Nice looking fresh fruit and vegetables good range of other products.

Great,but they do need to think about safety downstairs parking. The Disability parks are small and 1 is too close to pedestrian crossing, difficult to park and exit,too many hazards.

Everything you can think of here at this Countdown. I love going here when I'm in Wellington.

The biohazard line loops down a closed entry. Thicker miasma than inside. No air movement. Store the people in the carpark. Skip the cauldron

Gets very busy on weekend days, especially Sunday. Top line of fresh bakery products but need to introduce new ones. Great selection of products at the deli and the pharmacy is a great addition. A highly rated supermarket and the layout is excellent

Thanks for keeping your customers safe during Covid. I feel Countdown Newtown has gone above and beyond. Always very helpful and thoughtful staff at checkout.

Very clean supermarket, aisles feel wide and overall feel is spacious. Large range of products, everything appears fresh and appertising. Got a good bottle of wine and a lovely blue cheese both were discounted, nice to get lovely products at a good price. Best thing was check out - all were staffed and minimal wait.

Huge store, very huge. two levels of Parking, reasonable prices, well not much different to new world up the road, but does have a bigger selection. You can save a bit of money here if you stockpile certain items, Only issue i have is I don’t buy their bread rolls. They only stock crusty rolls, which are nice, they don’t have normal rolls. Same as crusty but not crusty. their $2 bread loaves are amazing, I love the crusts

Great location, plenty of parking spots for shoppers. It has pharmacy as well.

Good supermarket and stays open late. Also do a quiet hour on Wednesdays with lower lighting and no music. Plus have an in-store pharmacy

Huge store that is laid out well. Their inventory is in the aisles that you anticipate and not hidden away in some obscure location. They also have an indoor parking garage that makes it convenient for the commuting shopper.

Strategically located and easy access. There's plenty of parking on site. You'll find a good range of products from fresh produce, poultry, seafood, dairy, bread, groceries. The Countdown complex also have other shops: burger, sushi, kiwi breakfast, and hair salon. Mobility parking and access available.

Went this countdown as I had just visited the hospital. Easy parking and a great supermarket with fresh produce and a good variety of products. I had to get toiletries for someone who was rushed to hospital. Good selection. Then went back at night time to pick up grocery items. Nice staff as well

Excellent countdown weird to go up excavators to the countdown but other than that it's it's OK some of their aisles were difference and a little bit confusing but overall was all good

Great Bhuja Mix. The escalators are round the wrong way. Good place to visit if you like seeing people stuck in the same sad job for many years, with graying skin

An excellent shop, very convenient parking. We always shop here when visiting family in Wellington. A great range of vegan food items. The shop is very clean and the food is always fresh. The staff are friendly and interested in us as visitors to Wellington. Very welcoming. My favourite Wellington supermarket.

Good sized Countdown, stocks most of the lines you'd expect from a Countdown, unlike some of the smaller suburban Countdowns. Shares the building with a burger place, a sushi shop, a cafe and a hairdresser. Parking available in the building but it's an awkward carpark in terms layout. Parking, entry and exit are not exactly user friendly.

Has all your basic necessities as far as food goes. But don't expect a wide selection. Ive found new world just down the street is better for that. Overalls a sufficient grocery store with a coupla bits and bobs as well as your basic house necessities.

Best Countdown in the country. Whatever they are doing here...do it in all Countdown stores! Happy staff. Nice store layout. All good

Wakachangis cost an extra couple bucks, better off going to New World and avoid getting eaten by the escalator. Good deli though.

Very clean and tidy shop. Lots of Sortiment. Bread and Dairy products are fresh. Employees are helpful if you look for something but actually the aisles are very well signed. Got a Pharmacy inside and Lotto counter just outside the registers. Parking is very convenient in the basement. Sushi and a Cafe are also in the building. Anz ATM too

Countdown's very close to me and has reasonable prices on a fairly wide range of items. I needed a loo brush and was not sure they would have one but I found 3 different types there! I like this supermarket as it definitely has a local Newtown feel rather than Metropolitan Welly feel. I'll be back.

Smart layout, feels fresh and easy to shop at. Carpark can feel a little tight, but works ok.

I live in island bay.I'm a pensioner and have custody of my great grand daughtet.We do our shopping every fortnite it's so much cheaper for us.I catch a bus there and back,the bus drivers are great they help me with my shopping when i come home.Countdown has great specials for us..I'd like to also thank the workers.

Hello Countdown Newtown. I stop in on Sat since I was in town on Business and like always the store looks awesome! I got what I needed with a great smile from the checkout staff and the store manager is a great guy he did stop and had a chat so the experience was great and very warm and friendly! Much better than countdown Porirua anytime! so please feel free to pop in to do your shopping at Countdown Newtown you won't be disappointed!

Good sized supermarket with a good range of products. It was disappointing to see that the normally good range of specials and low prices was not maintained during Covid-19 alert level 4 though.

Convenient location for those living just outside the city' south-end. A well needed supermarket given the Newtown New World and Kilbirnie Paknsave.

Free fruit for kids is an amazing idea. I wish the other supermarkets would follow suit. Plenty of food options here and friendly staff. Great parking.

Heaps of products, plenty to choose from. The two drawbacks I find are: quite a few of the craft beers are often stored out of chillers. Secondly products have a tendency to move around between different areas (I'll look for one type of product in one isle, only to find it's moved to a completely different one). Staff have always been friendly, which I truly appreciate. Would give 4.75 stars if I could

Not bad the location but parking was a problem as we are not familiar with the area. Varieties of products were good as the same at all their outlets. Food was fresh and price reasonable

One of the much better supermarkets in Wellington, Newtown Countdown is vast and has the range of products to fill it. Great alcohol selection with a good mixes of price points. Deli has selfish options and the international section is very decent. Go here when you have a specific product in mind that might be hard to find, and enjoy everything in one place.

Seems good , fresh food, nice easy to find items at nd good layout

One of the better countdowns I have been too. Good offers and prices on fruit and veg and reduced bakery from 6pm onwards. Easy checkout and staff seemed friendly enough

Pros: An alternative to all the New Worlds, decent sized store and usually stocked on the basics with everything clearly labeled. Counter staff are usually friendly. Cons: shopping baskets are frequently not stacked at the entrance which means waiting around or taking a trolley, limited selection in the fresh foods section. Basement parking does flood a bit in areas when it's been raining a lot.

As supermarkets go, I find the Newtown Countdown setup not particularly intuitive as to where to find things. Their fruit and veg are often not great quality but at least their prices are reasonable and it's often not too busy in there.

Great service always, the staff here are super helpful and friendly, and the selection of gluten free products, alternative meats and dairy free yogurts and cheeses is absolutely amazing. Plus, they have Harringtons bunny food

I go to the countdown Newtown pharmacy three times a week and am ALWAYS, ALWAYS,ALWAYS treated with respect and friendliness , over the past few years of going there I've made friendships with all of the wonderful staff especially the managers Sophia and Nevin. Both of whom go well above and beyond to support me. I've had some terrible pharmacists over the years but these guys and gals have been so great. Thank you sooo much.

Good specials, but could do with better variety, for example: have the more popular chocolate flavours, or deodorant scents etc. They'll have the stuff from the catalogue, but not necessaily the full selection. Lack of trollies and baskets can be a problem sometimes.

Wicked pharmacy and medical supplies prescribed by doctor and do your shopping at the same time friendly service with a smile

Large countdown store. Wide selection of products. Never seen this store get too (overwhelmingly) busy so it's great for a late shop. Very large selection of toiletry products and an in-store pharmacy. Also has a (St Pierre's) sushi store on the ground floor.

Its ok just. Fresh produce not great. Deli mediocre, butchery non existent apart from shelves. Some good prices for other goods and they have a pharmacy

A great store that looks well stocked and very clean! Some customer are pigs to throw the empty boxes on the ground for other to pick up or trip up! Very dumb and show that these idiots can't think too good! 👍

Free underground parking is super handy, good selection of groceries, and there's a sushi place you can grab a bite from on the way out.

One of the better Countdown stores in the Wellington region and nearly as good as a Newworld Store. Has covered parking with safe access to shopping. Shopping flow is excellent as are other food shops on site.

Since there's nothing between "It's OK" and "I disliked it" I'll settle for OK. This shop is the only one in walking distance that seems to stock my preferred variety of muesli bars, so I kind of have to go there every so often. We tried weekly grocery shopping here twice, and walked away not overly happy; specially their fruit & veggie section leaves much to be desired. The produce often looks mangy, it's hard to locate the correct prices, and it's usually totally over-priced. A lot of things that I'd normally buy are not available, so a one-stop-shop @ Countdown is impossible for us.

But I can never find the coconut milk/cream... is it in with the Asian ingredients, tinned fruit, tinned veg or plant based milks. Why not everywhere

Well stacked goods. Spacious. Aisles are not cramped. I can shop with ease. Convenient to have a pharmacy too. Literally one stop shop for my weekly shopping.

Fantastic parking available, weird arrangement of baby needs being with cleaning products, not normal health care stuff, great array of products

Lovely selection tidy, clean and lots of beautiful smiles from the staff

Staff are friendly and approachable. Door greeter at the travelator is always a nice old man who is happy to say hello to everyone he sees. Security guard is pretty relaxed usually listening to music which gives a great, comfy vibe. This countdown also has a lot of vegetarian foods also which accomodates the local needs perfectly.

Very friendly, convenient and tidy atmosphere I like there specials too.

We visit this place weekly for our big shop. I find it's a good place to get food to feed our family of four. The complex itself seems to always have issues - lift out of service etc.

Love Count down. The specials are awesome and so affordable. The staff are always polite. And the old Maori guard has a smile on his face and a lovely way of greetings every one young and old. He has a way with the babies.

Good, cheap, food supermarket. Good parking underneath. Also in same building is a hairdressers, cafe and sushi outlet. This is a standard chain NZ supermarket selling all home grocery needs.

It's Countdown, what can I say??? If you want to do your weekly shop, you can do it here. If you want the best deals, go somewhere else. Convenience versus value: the consumer's age old dilemma, right here in Newtown! All under one roof...

This supermarket is the biggest in Newtown. It has also has eat-in stores inside the complex and two levels of carparking. It's very clean and the lay-out is good. Walk-in fridge for your cold alcohol beverages and in-store chemist as well.

Great if you commute along Adelaide Rd. Has its own underground parking. And shares the complex with a couple of cafes and fast food places. Too easy.

Countdown Newtown offers good priced goods and a wide variety of items. The staff there are helpful. Having the pharmacy there is also great as you can pick up your prescription on the way.

A big new supermarket, very handy if you live or out-and-about around Te Whaea. Have almost all of the items that you wanted & needed. Their price is very reasonable. I used to bring my lunch to Te Whaea, and now I don't have to.

Cool little supermarket , I get everything I need... perfect for working middle class...not so cheap like Pak n save where quality suffers..and not so expensive like New World...

So far my favorite supermarket over the years I have all ways found what I wanted and super friendly staff nd team members plus easy covered parking

Such a buzzing Metropolis....went early this morning..staff doing shelves are indiscreet and very helpful. As I live in Seaview it's a real treat to come to what is one of the best Countdowns in Wellington

Medium selection of food. Bakery section leaves a little to be desired. Main door at far end is often broken. No EV charging spaces whilst shopping.

Great underground parking for grocery shopping on a wet day, however this Countdown is extremely busy with lots of students so be prepared to wait at the checkout.

Broad range of products, budget products are reasonably good quality. Great prices on treat's. Tasty tender quality beef steaks.

Convenient and a pharmacy that takes a lot of prescriptions free of charge, but because of this, it can also mean longer wait at the pharmacy, 25 to 30 minutes are uncommon.

Did a last minute Xmas shop, no one there, what a nice surprise. Staff were excellent- super friendly even got a few stocking fillers- very affordable.

Best supermarket in town

Wider aisles than New World. Easier to access for pedestrians and cyclists. Bakery products are not as good as New World. It has a relatively relaxed ambience.

I enjoy wandering around Countdown. They have moved some of the things around so I am still getting used to it. Good prices and plenty of choices. Being on a pension I look for the specials.

Countdown Newtown is great theres plenty of parking underneath so you can avoid the wellington rain also has a chemist inside which is convenient.

Handy location, nice and close to the hospital. Only a 5 minute walk. Was good to have such good option for my wife after she gave birth.

Nice big shop, could do with a little more ready made food (hot pies, filled rolls etc.) and pay-wave don't work for every bank.

Only countdown sells original tonic water and has a decent international section. But if you are looking to make the classic kiwi dip you may need a hand to find the two basic ingredients here.

It's a Countdown. It does what it says on the tin. The "Customer Service" desk is typically useless, but the Checkout Operators are always lovely. I was once refused to purchase two bottles of wine because, as a woman, I couldn't possibly drink two without intending to get drunk or supplying someone else (one was for cooking and the other drinking) - while I get that it's their right to refuse service for any reason, the reasoning was kinda rude.

Good store size with great variety. Extensive fresh produce. Personal winner was fresh bacon cooked in store.

It was such a relief in 2013 when Countdown opened a large supermarket nearer to Wellington CBD. It gives New World some needed competition on range, prices and customer service. Having a local pharmacy near Wellington Regional Hospital (within a few blocks) is also a big plus, and Countdown Newtown Pharmacy has now become my local choice (prescriptions only $2.50 instead of the usual $5.00!!!!). Countdown Newtown nearly always has everything I need in stock, which is more than I can say for any other supermarket in Wellington.

I was pleasantly surprised with their range of canned baked beans - not so much their cannelloni however. I guess you win some, you lose some.

Hardly any people which means no queues at checkout. Customer service very pleasant.

Good deals if you have a One card, also a handy location for public transport, and with a pharmacy. Not so great for leaving from by car....

Good savings, friendly staff and check out employee were pleasesing and quick which helps as I was very busy. Will definitely be back and will let others know.

Okay one of my main issues is they sell all their fruit and vegies in plastic for example the only way to buy carrots is in bags

Good selection, except for vegetarian meat supplements. Long queues at the checkout too, they should have more registers open

Don't like the fact you have to go up a walking escalator as not easy to get a trolley down full of groceries they do have extra things in magazine section that other countdown don't have

Reckoned that Countdown sells products coming from Australia more cheaply so if you need to buy something Australian like Tim Tam this is the place to go

This is a massive supermarket. I like it but I don't visit regularly so find it hard to find the things I need. Things don't seem to be placed similarly to other Countdown supermarkets.
