Reviews of New World Thorndon
M.I don't usually shop here, but decided to drop in based on a recommendation. Biggest plus is parking. Wellington really is not a parking friendly city, so that was a pleasant surprise. The store is big, just as my friend described it. Personally, I'd rather shop at the other larger city store because it is more spacious. The time I visited it felt like a feeding frenzy. Large trolleys, many shoppers and small walking spaces elevate anxiety.
Q.The best equiped supermarket in NZ, especially beer, wine and cider. Great lunch time options.
C.Friendly staff, good stock, handy as a local. Only thing is price, but to be fair, they do have some decent deals. Nice one guys 🤘🤘

A.Love this supermarket! It’s massive and has so many different products + wide aisles which is great. Their Covid prevention measures at the checkouts are great too, they’ve installed walls around each checkout to help with social distancing.
T.Not a bad supermarket. You can get some good lunch food here from pies to pasta. Some of the prices are a little higher than you would expect but still not the worst.
J.Look obviously there are some problems with the supermarket duopoly - and this place has a rep for being expensive. But if you buy what’s on special and aren’t fussy about brand it’s no more expensive than anywhere else, really… and what sets NW Thorndon apart is the friendliness of its staff and its commitment to accessibility. It’s still the only Wellington supermarket we’ve found with a trolley that will allow you to push a large child or disabled adult while you’re shopping, and they’re very responsive to feedback.
