I did the South Island 7 day small groups tour... and WOW!!!
Coming from the tourism industry and having been living in NZ for over a year already, my expectations for the trip were extremely high, but boy Kiwi Ex did not disappoint! If anything they blew me (and our whole bus) away!
Our guide (Tim) was friendly, approachable, knowledgable and tons of fun. He had awesome recommendations for local hidden gems in every place we visited, gave us the freedom to choose our activities while always giving us multiple options, and turned a bunch of people from completely different backgrounds into amazing friends.
I honestly couldn't recommend Kiwi Experience or this tour enough. There is literally something for everyone and you will make memories that you will cherish for years to come...

Amazing amazing amazing!!! Highly recommend to anyone who's keen to see a slice of our beautiful Aoteoroa! Our guide Tim was so knowledgeable and could tell he loved his job! He was a blast to be around! Whether you are a solo traveller or with a couple or a group this tour is for you!! So much fun! Highly highly recommend

I did the South Island 10 day tour with Tim. The man is a legend. Originally from Christchurch he knows everything one can possibly know about NZ and the South Island, he's also a 110% safe driver and honestly the best tour guide I've ever had, definitely a Rockstar.
The tour is so well organized and enjoyable that it's not possible not having a great time, and such good value for all that it includes.
I highly recommend paying extra for the activity of swimming with the Dusky Dolphins in Kaikoura. That was definitely one of the best days of my life, no doubt about it. Just dont forget to take a GoPro cammera.
Thanks for everything guys! Looking forward to having the chance to do the North Island Tour.
Cheers!

Awesome experience with the Kiwi crew !
The people at the kiwi experience office were lovely and very patient with me as i asked so many questions and helped me book my whole trip!
Then I had the best time on the road, meeting people from all over the world, exploring beautiful places across New Zealand. I had different drivers but my favorite ones were Cowboy and Stretch, both different but so cool and very helpful !
Couldn't recommend it more !

The reservation team made my bookings quite an easy and seamless experience especially for my first time travelling. Also, the bus drivers were really helpful with my tour especially when I had forgotten a piece of luggage. I’d definitely rate the Kiwi Experience service as top notch! and would refer it to my family and friends. I look forward to travelling with Kiwi Experience again 🤘🏽

I'm already 3 months in New Zealand for both travelling and working, and I can tell you my week with Kiwi Experience was one of my best week in this lovely country.
Why? Well, there are several reasons:
Kiwi experience was convenient because if you want they arrange pretty much everything for you: your accommodation and activities, both paid and free one's. I'm also pretty sure that I would have missed out some great activities in NZ if I wouldn't have travelled with Kiwi experience. I did almost all of the activities, which made these days quite intense. But that's the way I like it. It's not every day you are in one of the most beautiful countries in the world èh ;)
The number one reason why I liked travelling with Kiwi Experience so much is probably because of the nice group we were travelling with. There were many like-minded people who were here for the same reason, having fun with an international bunch of people and enjoy NZ to the fullest every single day!
You know, I hitchhiked a lot in NZ before I did this trip and I've met many people then but it was mostly for a short period, because you don't have the same travel schedule. With Kiwi Experience I could travel every day to another place while I had my new friends still with me. And it's special how quickly you have a bond with people from all around the world when you experience so many things together, although you didn't know them before!
So if you don't have plenty of time but you wanna see most of it and in the meantime being part of a nice group of like-minded international people...
I recommend you to go on Kiwi Experience.

One of the most amazing trips I’ve ever done! Had Simon as our bus driver from start to finish and he was honestly the best driver anyone could have! He always kept us entertained, was easy to have a laugh with and had wicked stories to tell. Loved his sense of humour and he was always a great help when you needed it. Will miss him so much as he made this experience for me one of the most memorable, never thought I got to see and do so much in just 24 days. Thanks Kiwi experience and Simon for everything!

Kiwi Experience was a great way to travel around New Zealand. They make it extremely easy to travel flexibly. Literally all you need to do is book the bus ticket, and the rest is taken care of during the trip. The bus drivers were fun, helpful, and made a point to get to know everybody on the tour. Highly recommended!

The Kiwi Experience made our trip one too never forget!
Me and my girlfriend started and ended our trip with Kiwi in Christchurch. We booked the Kea pass and only did the southern island in two weeks.. It was way too short! So we advice everyone too travel at least a month with the Kiwi bus!
But even in this short amount of time we've seen more than we could imagine on forehand. During the trip we had some great drivers who knew more about the island than Google! The places they showed us and the stories they told were incredible.
The most amazing thing about our trip with the Kiwi Experience are the friends we made! It's not even a week ago that we saw them for the last time but we miss them already.
We truly hope that anyone will do this trip and experience it the same way we do, and actually like everybody does!

This company exemplifies the "Kiwi Way" - Phoned up Shea in the office and asked if we could get a pickup at Bombay hills as I was picking up friends son direct from Airport. San Francisco delay of 3 hours and no way we were going to make the city pickup.
"Absolutely No problem" said Shea - phoned back told Shea we would be 15-20mins late, we were on the way. Shea and the driver, AMAZING! they waited and understood. They brushed it off like it was no big thing they were doing for us - but to me and an American backpacker who was super stressed about making the bus - YOU MADE HIS DAY! and you made my week! SO VERY PROUD! of Kiwi Experience helping us out by waiting an extra 15minutes!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEIR STAFF and work ethic! WELL DONE! You are being shouted about all over facebook how wonderful you are!

I had a look for my children & me to go for a New Zealand tour, but children not allowed.

I had a tremendous experience with this company. Professional, prompt and accommodating. When you book see if you can book with Rachel as your driver. She is awesome. She grew up in the area and knows it like the back if her hand. She is an extremely safe driver. Wonderful in many ways!

I didn't have too much time, so I did the Geyserland tour, 4 days start to finish from Auckland returning back there. Our tour guide - Sparrow - was fantastic; I think we were lucky to have her! What's even better were my fellow travelers; I was flying solo, so I was a little (a lot?) nervous about who I'd meet and what type of group we'd be. Nothing to fear; I think everyone found someone they enjoyed visiting with, and I found lots of people. I never really felt like I was traveling alone; instead, we were just some fun-loving fast friends. The people made this a great experience!
Also: black water rafting. Yes. Do the abyss - it costs a little more, but it's totally worth it.

Kiwi Experience Bus Tours is a great way to see and get around all of New Zealand. Their green buses can be found in all corners of the country and they've offices in all major centers. Call the helpline if you've any queries or concerns and the staff will be able to help you fastest.

I did the sheepdog but added on Milford Sound. This has literally been the best 4 weeks of my life. I met some amazing new friends along the way. Saw some of the most beautiful places I believe I will ever see my whole life, I did loads of crazy activities, had awesome bus drivers- helpful and informative... MASSIVE shoutout to Giggles who is a true legend! I had him for the longest of my drivers and he made every minute an absolute blast!!! Keep living the dream mate! I honestly never wanted this experience to end. I have fallen in love with the country, and had the time of my life along the way. Thank you Kiwi Experience! CHEERSSSSSSSSS!!!!

I just finnished a 1.5 month long adventure with Kiwi Experience. It's been fantastic. Started i Auckland and went up to Pahia and Bay of Islands. Absolutely fantastic. Then we were heading south. i did almost all activities along the way but it was worth every dollar. The drivers are very good in guiding and have the answers on all your questions. On the north island I really recommend Hobbiton, Tongariro Crossing and the Maori village in Rotorua. When you come to the south island I really recommend you to walk some mountains in Wanaka, Queenstown and especially Glenorchy. Sooo beautiful!!
Queenstown however is a party and adventure mecca which won't leave you dissapointed. i got so many friends on the Kiwi bus and I probably will have somewhere to stay if I'm going to britain because there is a lot of british people on the bus.
It's very expensive to do all activities but the Kiwi bus give you some good deals which you of course can't refuse. So prepare to loose some money but I can promise you that you never had this fun loosing money before. New Zealand is a must do and the Kiwi bus is the best way to do it.

I had an incredible experience with Kiwi Experience. I found a great group of friends on the bus and our Drive Guide Vaughan was awesome. Here's my review for the Buzzy Bee Pass:
Auckland and Hot Water Beach weren't the greatest stops, and it would be nice to have a better introduction to your group and guide for the first night. Waitomo and the glowworm cave was INCREDIBLE and the guides of the Blackwater Rafting company are awesome. Rotorua was fun, we did the zorbing and that was nice and our guide was very accommodating in dropping us off there. Taupo and the Tongariro Crossing was epic, and one of the best hikes I've ever done. Taupo itself was a fun little town and had a nice nightlife. River Valley was perhaps my favorite night of the whole trip because it was such a communal atmosphere; from staying in the 60 bed dorm to staying up all night looking up at the beautiful night sky with friends: I didn't go water rafting but it looked like the group had fun! We BARELY had any time in Wellington, which is weird because it's the capital?! Definitely the Buzzy Bee should include 2 nights in Wellington. I would've stayed but I loved the group we had on the bus. Keiteriteri was a pointless stop, we mountain biked there but there wasn't enough time to really explore Abel Tasman National Park anyways! Westport was where we stayed in a really cool hostel... with all of the hammocks (it's been 6 months so I can't remember the name...Bazil?) and had a fun bonfire. Lake Mahinapua was a rip off and it was unfortunate we couldn't skip that stop, it was obviously a marketing scheme because we knew Kiwi Experience owns that bar: we were literally stranded at the bar with nothing to do but drink and pay for the ridiculous dinner! Franz Josef glacier was a total ripoff! Over $300 to walk 200 meters on a glacier?? I convinced my friends on the bus after us not to even do it because it wasn't worth it! The Rainforest Hostel was okay, but I remember the rooms being hot! Wanaka was okay but we just wanted to finally get down to QUEENSTOWN! Queenstown was of course incredible and we did a ton of activities there; bungy, luge, Fergburger, drinking, etc etc. Nomads Queenstown were total A**HOLES to us, and our whole group of 12 left the hostel and got a refund to go somewhere else. We were very upset and it put a damper on our Kiwi Experience trip. Nomads Queenstown is run by horrid, condescending management.
All in all, I loved my trip and I've recommended Kiwi Experience to everyone I met on my travels, on my blog, and back home. You guys rock and a New Zealand experience wouldn't be the same without you.

New Zealand is without a doubt a beautiful country. I traveled during winter using Kiwi Expeirence. Most of the activities were weather dependent so were cancelled due to the time of year. I had high hopes as I had previously traveled Canada and Australia with a similar tour company. Kiwi Expeirence wasn't as good as the other companies I have traveled with.
The tour groups are really big and the minimum 26 days to complete the chilly bin pass is inadequate. In a lot of the route I was on you were just doubling back on yourself. You need a good handful of more days to make it an experience. You are shuttled around from stop to stop spending most of the day on a bus. A lot of people I traveled with ended up booking flights, a method of travel recommended by the driver, to ensure you could spend a few more days in places.

There are many positive but also negative things to say about my 2 month long Kiwi Experience.. i give them 3,5 of 5
+ (my opinions)
1. if you travel alone you meet alot of new interesting people from around the world. Some will stay friends for a life time
2. the Bus drivers are very helpful, even if you can't speak english very good like me...;) and they also give alot of informations about where we go, the history of new zealand, great places for cheap food... Chapeau, you're amazing
3. you get reduced prices for hostels, vouchers and cheaper tickets for many things, because they work together with hostels...
4. You always can decide between partying, getting wasted and have a nice silent night at a beautiful beach.. It's not only a Party Bus. You can decide.
5. Only two words... amazing nature
- (my opinion)
1. In January and February it's not a Hop-on Hop-off Bus because you have to pre-book at least 2 weeks. Specially if you don't travel alone. If you don't do it, you are in the standby list. So you can't do spontaneously decisions.
2. some hostels are dirty.. very dirty, but you get used to it (there are also many nice and clean, specially the little hostels)
And they only guarantee you ONE night in the hostel.
3. You do a lot of hikes and the kiwi bus drives to nature parks too, but i would prefer less city activities and more hikes. I want to see the nature and not only the city. They skipped many beautiful places.. That's why i traveled with the intercity bus too. Like to Kaikoura... It's on the map but the don't drive there at the moment. Wrong infos!!!
4. the busses are fridges.. too cold
5. I lost something in another hostel and asked kiwi if they could pick it up from the reception or tell someone in the hostel to pick it up... Kiwi was like, hmm we don't do that sry. I was a little bit disappointed.

First time backpacking (60 yeas old and solo) and so I made a number of mistakes and assumptions. Some of which could have been made clearer on web site. Had "The Whole Kit & Caboodle" pass. DON'T buy additional accommodation vouchers as it seemed impossible to use them. Unique stays is worth it especially the Tamaki Maori Village.
North Island was great and two great drivers (Dave & Ben) bus had largely the same crowed on, easy to make friends. South Island was OK too but bus passengers changed a lot more as some stayed extra days.
Peak summer so quite crowded too and difficult to find accommodation in Queenstown beyond the first night that Kiwi Experience guarantee. Crowding also meant you needed to book the next leg on the bus early especially if on a tight time scale like me.
Deep South part is long days on the bus (great driver helped). Arriving 6pm departing 8am next day, there is no chance to see Dunedin or Invercargill (home of the fastest Indian) and Milford Sound back to Queenstown is a long day (needed at least an extra 2-days. No one had book us accommodation when we got back from Milford and was a bit of panic as most places full.
Still all in all it was a great experience. I had to get back for a flight but if I'd been able to spend another week I could have paced the tour better. I'd do 6 weeks (rather than the 5 I did) if I new then, what I know now. And I'd recommend Kiwi Experience too.

Hi there...Being of the belief that you should always see your own country first before exploring the rest of the world I purchased two KIWI EXPERIENCE bus passes in July 2015. I bought them for my son's 21st birthday present so he could take a friend with him on a three week trip around the South Island. My son Alex and his friend Luke are now at the tail end of their trip with only 4 days to go. It has been so very exciting to watch their adventures via photos on FB nearly every day. They have had such a fantastic trip. I see by their FB photos and hear in their voices over the phone that they are in awe of the things they have seen and done. KIWI EXPERIENCE has been THE most positive experience and a great company to deal with, from the staff I dealt with on the phone when I first rang and booked (I asked a million questions) to the drivers of the buses (Alex said Mangee was particularly outstanding) - you've all been great. If Alex and Luke were travelling by car I would have constantly been worrying about their safety but I feel totally relaxed knowing they are in safe hands of experienced bus drivers who know the roads like the back of their hands. I have another son who will be 21 in 18 months time and I will definitely, definitely, definitely be booking him (and a friend of his choosing) on KIWI EXPERIENCE. I can't think of a more perfect way to celebrate turning 21. The memories you have given them will last a life time so a HUGE HEART FELT THANK YOU.
J.
It’s a great experience, but I can say with certainty that it’s the drivers that can make it 100% better or worse for you. Luckily we had Giggles (Cory) for the most part meaning that we had an increadible time. I would recommend for anyone to do this trip and if you want a laugh make sure you’re with him.
J.
Even though the Kiwi Experience tours were not suitable for our requirements, the lady who dealt with our enquiry couldn't have been more helpful and even went to the trouble of helping us to find other options that would and gave us relevant information to contact them. She was a credit to the organisation and I would like to thank her very much.
Á.
a good option to go around kiwi-land, though not providing enough info for some of the activities and some of the stops offer almost no option, but to join an activity, which most of the time feels a bit of a ripoff. some of the drivers would be better off doing something else(especially on the northern loop).
J.
5 STARS FOR TODDY !!! He’s an absolute LEGEND! Besides beiing a safe driver he went above and beyond to make everyones trip a great experience. We all agreed that it’s definitely thanks to him everything was so easy and just fun! Thank you!

Traveled with my older sister earlier this year. The best choice ever! Easy to prebook your buses and we hopped off in so many beautiful spots. Would definitely do it again👌
a.
Nice experience, some times the accommodations were experience or without WiFi, but it was worth considering the place you see during the trip, plus we had the best driver (cowboy) always kind and helpful.
O.
Wow! What a trip it was! Loved the driver guides and would definitely go back to do another round of beautiful New Zealand. Cheers guys!

Best experience ever! First I was worried if there would be too many very young people. But it’s a perfect mix of younger (18+) and older (up to 33) travelers. You see many nice spots in NZ, meet many travelers, party together (if you are up to) and simply have a great time. Many thanks to Tane, Chris and Q, our very friendly and helpful bus drivers and travel guides!

(Translated) The best travel company in New Zealand . Staff are very friendly, fun and helpful. Ifbyou are traveling alone or with one or two friends travel with Kiwi Experience is the best way to visit great places and make new friends. Brazilians are worth the investment, better than renting a car and traveling alone, but you need to have time as their route stops to visit different cool places between one city and another.

Ifbyou are traveling alone or with one or two friends travel with Kiwi Experience is the best way to visit great places and make new friends. Brasileiros vale a pena o investimento, melhor do que alugar um carro e viajar sozinho, mas precisa de ter tempo pois a rota deles vai parando para conhecer diversos lugares legais entre uma cidade e outra.

(Translated) Really nice to travel with the Kiwi Experience. It's practical. There is no need to worry about anything, from accommodation to tours, because in addition to transportation, they book hotels and make activities possible. And there is no such thing as a travel agency, which is forcing purchases of extra tours. Buses could be a little more comfortable, but little time is spent on them, as there are several stops along the way for free photos and tours.

(Translated) Best company to travel through New Zealand! I had a wonderful trip with these people. The price is worth it, it is safe, the trip is very good, the driver in general is very nice and the itinerary is incredible. New Zealand is wonderful! Super recommend! The south island has a lot more cool things to see than the north island, if you're short on time. But if they can, Auckland and Rotorua cannot be left out of the North Island itinerary.

Melhor empresa para viajar pela Nova Zelândia! Eu tive uma viagem maravilhosa com esse pessoal. O preço vale a pena, é seguro, a viagem é bem boa, o motorista em geral é bem legal e o roteiro é incrível. A Nova Zelândia é maravilhosa! Super recomendo! A ilha sul tem bem mais coisas legais para ver do que a ilha norte, caso você esteja com pouco tempo. Mas se puder, Auckland e Rotorua não podem ficar de fora do roteiro na ilha norte.

(Translated) Enjoy the craziest Kiwi experience of your life. I had the opportunity to meet people of all nationalities, and all super nice. When you travel alone, it allows you to meet people, while visiting and the advantage is that you can stay as much night as you want at each stage. I had 3 different drivers all listening, ready to give you advice and make your trip the best possible. BBQ and camp fire on the beach, friendship, laughter and evening, while traveling in beautiful landscapes ... that's what awaits you! To redo as soon as possible
