We had a wonderful time! We were a little bit late and our tour guide Blake was really nice guy. He waited us for 20 minutes. The kayaking was really fun. He also told us a lot about the glow worms. It's was a trip of life time according to the three boys. Part of the adventure was has a camp fire and toasted marsh mellow. It's Scouts style activity. The glow worm was and the night sky full of stars are just breathtaking! We had an unforgettable night.

Easy going kayaking with outstanding views of stars and glow worms. Young guides with good energy and local knowledge. Nice little camp spot with some wine and and little fire.

We saw this advertised on Grab One and had never heard of night time kayak trips to see glow worms. In fact we usually drive through the Cambridge area on the way to somewhere else, so we planned a trip around it and were not disappointed.
It was well organised and the pre communication was very good especially closer to the time.
The guides were young and very experienced. Their health and safety briefings were calm, practical and precise.
Not everyone had kayaked before but they were patient and made it possible for everyone to enjoy the experience.
Coming back in the dark we were in two raft formations each with a guide. Their knowledge of the glow worms was excellent and it was very surreal going through a section of the tributary with high canyon walls, glow worms everywhere and a full moon. It was so quiet....
Going back across the small section of the Waikato we had pole lights at the back and the current was very weak so it was easy and I just felt guilty that we didn't have to do anything. Emma and Blake packed everything up in the dark which would have taken quite a while.

Did kayaking on Lake Karapiro. The narrow inlets take you through peaceful forest until you reach superb waterfalls. Stunning!

We were lucky enough to have experienced a beautiful, clear winters night on the water. Glowworms, lots of stars and even spotted a couple of satellites. Thank you Ben for being a wonderful guide. Highly recommend this experience.

My partner Salome and I had the most magical evening, it was an amazing trip to look at the glow worms! Caleb, who hosted us was bubbly and very knowledgeable of the area and its history. I would recommend this trip to anyone looking for a kayak adventure regardless of experience :)

This trip is what can only be called a hidden gem and Boatshed make it a very enjoyable experience. This is a must do trip.
We did this trip as a family with myself my daughter (9) and son (3) in a double kayak, and my wife in a single.
We will be doing more with them in the future. Truly memorable!

Booking was very straight forward, though there was initial confusion. Sorted out quickly. Very clear instructions to the meeting point.
Actual experience is beyond words... Like being amongst stars. Way better than the cave experience. Guides were helpful and friendly. Took care of my 5y girl on the way back.
Our only mistake was not to apply insect repellent. Had few sandfly bites that itch like mad for almost a week. So, don't forget to protect yourself. You'll enjoy the campfire and secret treats better.

An amazing experience was had the other night when we kayaked up the mighty Waikato into the Pokaiwhenua stream. Constantly surrounded by stunning New Zealand bush then we paddled through a wee canyon. Stopped to enjoy a campfire where we toasted marshmallows and made s'mores all while enjoying a fabulous drop of New Zealand wine. Then we made a "raft" with our kayaks as our fabulous guide Blake assisted us drift back down the stream to be mesmerized by the glow worms glowing all through the canyon. Unbelievable experience, Blake was knowledgeable about the history of the area and the glow worms, professional and reassuring. Just a fabulous experience that I feel everyone should do.

Puts the 'ah' in amazing! Perfect for a peaceful evening appreciating the incredible glowworms along the river. Kayaking is the best way to see these glowworms up. Close and personal without disturbing their natural habitat. Very unique and magical experience. Would definitely do this again!

(Translated) We booked the Glowworm Kayaking Tour with The Boatshed Kayak and were super satisfied. Professional kayaks, funny troops and a breathtaking tour in the dark through narrow passages (the guide leads the kayaks at night) with a fascinating view of the fireflies and the stars.
The tour was one of our best experiences in NZ and is highly recommended.
We liked it even better than Waitomo Cave!
