Pacific Discovery's Southeast Asia program was the perfect mix of volunteering, adventure travel, independent exploring, and personal development. We were given so many opportunities to try new things and experience the culture in a meaningful way. My program leaders Jess & Devin are some of the coolest people I know and they were always there to support us. It was very clear while traveling how much effort was put into planning the program and if you are at all thinking about traveling with Pacific Discovery I would say you ABSOLUTELY should.

I traveled through Southeast Asia this past Fall, and I can confidently say it was the best decision of my life. Along with 15 other students, that soon became my family, we experienced four different countries in such an amazing way. My leaders on the trip have become two of my greatest role models, and the people we met along the way have become my heroes. The personal stories we heard from locals were unreal, and the opportunities to live right along side of them is irreplaceable. Thank you PD for changing my life and teaching things about myself I never thought were possible. If I could go on this trip 100 times over I would, and I know I would learn an unbelievable amount about the culture and myself every time.

I went on the South America fall trip, and it completely changed my life. Pacific Discovery does such a great job planning this trip to immerse us into the culture, rather than seeing their world as tourists. The adventure aspect is outstanding-- you will go from paragliding, to scaling waterfalls, to swimming with sea lions. The instructors are absolutely amazing and make the transitions so easy while also making the trip a ton of fun. I can not say enough great things about this program, and hope that everyone gets the chance to take part in a Pacific Discovery trip. It will change your view on the world, on cultures, on people, and even on your family. Nothing could have been improved.

I went on their Hawaii Minimester course this year and it was one of the most unique and fun experiences of my life. Pacific Discovery are committed to having their students fully immerse themselves in the culture in a way that someone travelling independently would not have the opportunity to. Our days were action packed and we all enjoyed ourselves in activities such as surfing, lei making, hiking, snorkelling and more. I am truly thankful for the experience that Pacific Discovery has provided me.

After searching through countless gap year programs, I had finally settled on one - Pacific Discovery Australia & New Zealand. I loved the balance it had between service projects and adventure activities. Going into it, I knew I was about to have a great adventure, but I could have never expected the extent to which the program would impact me. It wasn't just seeing new places and meeting new people - it was being in awe of places you couldn't have imagined, finding connections to different cultures, and becoming more aware of yourself in the process. And there would be no better way to experience all this than with the group of people you come to call your closest friends. Going through all these experiences together, growing together, allows you to become connected on a whole other level. The mission of Pacific Discovery really does come to life as the program fosters awareness for yourself and the world around you.

My decision to go on this trip was the best decision I've ever made! I met so many different people, and gained a new perspective on life. What I believe differentiates Pacific Discovery from other programs is that it ensures that students get a REAL, and AUTHENTIC experience. With that being said as much as I love going on vacation and relaxing, this helped me learn how to travel and learn at the same time. It helped me grow and realize my potential and for that I will be forever grateful to PD.

Got to meet really interesting people and learn about Hawaiian history and culture. Also got to do lots of thrilling activities like cliff jumping off a 40 ft cliff, surfing, swimming with manta rays, sharks, sea turtles and much more. I loved the kids on my program, everyone was so kind, smart, funny and adventurous. There was one student who was very disrespectful and unkind to the group and many of the people we met and the student was removed from the program eventually. Other than that one challenge, the majority of the trip was wonderful! Definitely an expensive 6 weeks (around 10k plus at least another 1-3k for flights and spending money), but got to do some awesome stuff. If you got the funds this is the trip for you!

I’ve really enjoyed my time on this program. I feel like I have learned a lot about myself and others, as well as the culture and history of Hawaii. We have had the opportunity to experience some incredible moments, such as snorkeling, cliff jumping, stargazing at Mauna Kea, surfing, and much more. In addition to the fun and exciting activities we have experienced, we have also had multiple opportunities to engage in various service projects which has been incredibly rewarding. I’m so grateful for having the opportunity to go on this trip, and I feel I have grown so much through the experience!

My experience with Pacific Discovery was superior to any other travel experience I have participated in. The level of organization, the variety of activities, and the very personal feel of the trip was incredible. I was especially impressed with the 2 leaders on our trip, as they acted as true mentors for the members of our group. Leaving the trip, I have a much better understanding of myself as well as my future aspirations and goals. I would highly recommend Pacific Discovery for anyone looking for a high quality, personal, and adventure packed study abroad experience - you will not be disappointed!

This experience has really helped push me outside of my comfort zone and has overall been very rewarding. You learn many important life skills, meet many amazing people, and become very close with the other members of your group. There are definitely some challenging experiences that you will surely encounter (like camping in the rain), but I now feel more confident dealing with these obstacles. This program is a lot of fun and is a great option for people looking for an amazing experience during their gap year.
