If you are wanting to experience the speed and thrills in a jet boat, riding the rapids, this is the trip you are looking for! Great for all ages and we all left with smiles on our faces. The beauty of that part of the river is so unique. Highly recommend. Awesome experience. Memories for life.

Beautiful scenic drive to Rapid Jets and the location was great! Staff super friendly & efficient. The ride was fantastic, James gave us lots of thrilled up & down the rapids and 360 spins! He shared info. about that stretch of the Waikato river which was really interesting and the filing of Yogi Bear, The Hobart that was made there. I really recommend the Rapids Jet, 35 mins of exhilaration and prepare to get a little wet….all part of the fun!!!

Absolutely fantastic. Even with covid traffic lights booking in was easy and the standards were good. Since we got there early Gabe told us where to go to see the dam gates open and it was well worth it. The jet boat trip was great and we learnt a lot about the river. Well worth a few splashes for the adrenaline rush! Thanks team!

Awesome jet boat ride! Definitely the best I’ve been on so far! Amazing scenery too! The only ride I’ve been on that actually takes you through rapids, not just calm water. The driver was great, made the kids feel safe and had a great sense of humour. Highly recommend this ride!

Helpful and professional staff. Boat held 10 to 11 people, so not too crowded. Waikato river nice and wide, so the 360s were fun. Driver went fast when he could and splashed us whenever he felt necessary. Lots of fun and I never felt scared for a moment.

I cannot rate this enough. If I could give 100 stars I would. This was the BEST activity on our holiday and when we go back to Taupo we will be going again for sure. We had such an awesome driver Shannan and the rest of the team was nothing short of amazing!!! Mind blown, thank you!! :-)

The Rapids Jet is so much fun! Thrilling and exciting, highly recommend doing this while in Taupo. I have been 4 times and keep coming back. They take you up and down the rapids for 30 minutes and you see some amazing scenery and learn some cool stuff about movies filmed on the river.

Staff are very lovely, the jet boat driver (Gabe) was excellent with answering what questions our group had and pointing out interesting facts about the rapids. Although the price is on the higher end, defiantly worth a go if you're a bit of an adrenaline junkie and want a thrill!

The best experience ever. We did a combo deal, which was to take a cruise up to the foot of the huka falls. After that we drove down to the lower end of the waikato River and on to the Rapid jet and had an exhilarating ride on the jet boat. 👍

Rapids Jet is fantastic, you are in a v12 8L jetboat that goes up and down rapids in the waikato river at 80kmh including some high speed spins. It is reasonable price and there is no mucking around - very quick from the check-in to leaving on the boat.

I bloody loved Rapids Jet. The staff where wonderful with a big shout-out out to Shannon who was the Captain of the Jet boat. He gave us the local history from movies filmed in the stretch of the Waikato River the ride is in as well as history of the Damn and volcanic activity. The actual ride was also excellent. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting a bit of a thrill!

Great day out on the water. Sam, our driver was awesome! Very friendly and welcoming. He had great knowledge of the area and about the river. We felt very safe with him as well. All the staff were lovely and very accommodating. We hoped the rapids would have been a bit bigger but it all depends on when you go and if water has been released in the river or not. It would have been cool to travel further along the river if it was possible but overall, we had a great experience and definitely recommend it!

The operator (Sam) was kind and fun to check everyone was having fun. One thing, I wish I could hear his educational stories better as I sat at the back with engine noise. What an unforgettable experience, loved it. If you want a jet boat ride that is more edgy and thrillseeking than the usual ones, you MUST try this. This boat actually goes through white water rapids as well as the spins and flat out speeds along the mighty Waikato river. This was my 6th or 7th time of riding with these guys - my first being back in 1999!!! I have to say, it is one of my favourite jet boat rides EVER & whenever anyone is visiting NZ or Taupo, I ALWAYS take / recommend them to the Rapids Jet!! History of the river, films made in the region, using the river, trout spotting, the Aratiatia Dam (make sure you see that too (10am, 12, 2pm, 4pm), the rapids jet uses the water from the dam release to run the ride); lots of spins, jumping rapids, riding them back up... the more you squeal or have fun with the drive, the wetter you will get - please don't sit there quietly - that's no fun for anyone!! Shannon is a polite, yet cheeky, well experienced driver, who gives you an amazing experience (don't believe that it's only his 1st week... LOL!!) I will be back - again.... & again & again & again & again & again .......

This was a fantastic adventure with around 45 minutes on the water.The speed of the boat is unbelievable interspersed with short stops when the driver stands up to talk about the boat, the river and some history of the dam and the Hobits filming. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We don't normally buy the event photos but the package of photos and video files delivered via e mail was really good value and quality so also bought that. Not a cheap day out but good value just the same. I would highly recommend it.

This was the absolute highlight of our three week holiday to NZ. One of the best things to do in NZ!!! My friends and I went on one of the tours after our plans for the weekend were cancelled and we were looking for something else to do. We didn't have the best weather conditions but in the end we had so much fun even in pouring rain. The team working there is extremely friendly and you will definitely have a laugh with them. It was one of the reasons why the tour was so amazing! So if you are an adrenaline junkie, hobbit fan or just want to have some fun you should definitely go on a tour with them, it will be worth your money :)

Recently went on a boat ride in between attending Lions Tour!!!.....with 'Dave' driving who was awesome, he was good fun, entertaining and informative about the geology the river and area and the ride which was thrilling. Absolutely amazing. Bring a GoPro with a head/chest mount as cell phones are prohibited from the experience. This is only due to the high chance of you losing your phone to the river, and not a money grab. Besides, you'll be too busy LOVING every second to want to film/take pictures.

I went on Rapids Jet with three friends. What a treat! It is a great adrenaline rush but it is much more than that. Dave, who drove us, is kind and personable, addressing each one if us by name. He is also knowledgeable, telling us stories about the river, the wildlife and the volcanism of the area. He takes the trouble to pronounce te reo Maori properly and is respectful of local Maori history. His enthusiasm is infectious and is delivered with characteristically laconic Kiwi humour. I never felt unsafe even while doing multiple 180 degree turns and speeding at 80 kph along the Waikato River. The health and safety of customers is very evidently paramount. This is a first class activity.

The Rapids Jet Aratiatia on the Waikato river is 35 minutes of great fun. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience - even getting pretty wet when charging through a rapid. It is a thrilling and exciting jet boat ride. The crew offered excellent customer service and Dave did a great job hurling us around in the boat. We had a great bunch of people (10) on board which added to the fun. I think this is relatively good value for money. I have had other jet boat experiences and this was the best so far. Lots of close encounters (not dangerous) with the embankments, rocks etc,, plenty of 180 turns and many charges through the rapids - plus lots of water over us all. Plus were given many interesting snippets of information about the area/river and a couple of really nice touches with the waterproof poncho and heated handrails on the boat. I must add that the scenery is quite beautiful. While in the area, it is worthwhile to take a look at the river and hydro station etc.

5 stars from me, 1 star from my wife. We have done jet boating before, but unfortunately the front desk lady (blond hair) told my wife that her sunglasses may not be very safe on the boat without telling her that a jet boat going 70kph makes it kind of hard to keep your eyes open without any eye protection. I had glasses, I had a great time, the driver was extremely skilled. My wife couldn't see anything, she was being tossed around without being able to brace herself before each 180 turn, and she came out of it shaken and angry that it was all ruined by the lack of glassess she got talked out of wearing. I was not impressed with that same front desk lady when she didn't seem to care at all when we explained. The owner I talked to later, took the feedback more to heart, although didn't offer a refund for my wife (just another ride that she wasn't going to take after her first experience). Outside of that detail which unfortunately ruined the experience for us (unhappy wife = unhappy time), they otherwise did a good job.

I have been on 3 jetboat rides over the years, Shotover, Skippers Canyon and now the Waikato Rapid Jet. In my opinion this offers the most thrilling ride out of the three. Encountering the white water rapids of the Waikato make the others seem tame! They were generous with their time also taking over half an hour and the price was also reasonable at $110. Highly recommended.
