M."What a legend!" Our guide Legend was a very professional and genuine guy. He was thorough with his briefing and instructions so we felt very safe throughout.
It was also lovely to gain a bit of insight into Maori history as Legend would gather us occasionally and speak to us about the land.
It was great fun out in the water and a good way to shed a bit of xmas weight. Would highly recommend. Had a lovely day with Legend guiding us!!! Cheers Legend!
J.Our half day lake kayak tour was cancelled due to the forecast wind but we were offered the river float experience instead. There was clear communication of options and prompt refund of the price difference.
The river float experience was excellent. The guides were informative and friendly, with an excellent sense of humour. We felt safe the entire time, even with inexperience on the water and a 7 year old.
The information given about the area and features of the river added to the experience and it is clear the guides love the river and give it the respect it deserves.
We will be booking the half day tour next time we are in Taupo. Cannot recommend this company enough.

River Float Tour is great for beginners and families with kids as little as 5 years old, as well as adults looking for a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Will totally come back for a Maori Carvings tour next time.

r.Fabulous 4 hour trip to fascinating Maori carvings. Coffee/tea break with an opportunity for a swim. Guide knowledgeable, friendly and competent. Surprised by big wind and waves partway through trip and guided safely back to Acacia Bay.
G.What is going on here. We wanted to rent kayaks to paddle to the Maori carvings. We went to the door and a lady came out to assist us. We told her our plans and she made us get all the equipment on our own. We had to pull the boats from a high shelf.
She gave us a short introduction and a map and then said, if we have any problems on the water, there are two numbers to call. She added, she doesn’t want to hear from us and she will charge us a lot of money, if we call her.
After our tour, we wanted to return the kayaks, but there was nobody. After we dropped all our equipment, a young man came. He again wanted us to store the boats on the shelf. The lady then came out, yelling at the boy and shouting at us, we should repack the equipment.
But besides that: Have a look at the carvings, they are amazing.
Edit: We didn’t even have to knock, because she came out already, trying to help us find a boat. There was no sign, that the rental was closed that specific day and we weren’t the only ones renting kayaks. I am sorry for your loss, maybe next time we’ll have a better experience.
R.Had an awesome experience with Taupo Kayaking adventures. We considered hiring kayaks without a guide but I’m so glad we went with the guided tour. Legend was a great guide and we will highly recommend TKA to friends and whanau.
K.The highlight of Taupo was an afternoon on the lake paddling over to see the Maori rock carvings. My buddy and I joined a group of three others, and with our guide, made six with three two-seater kayaks. Rob was a fantastic guide and solid dude to hang out with; we had an absolute blast. Diving off rocks into the frigid lake waters was an memorable experience!
