We had a great time staying at Criffel Gardners Cottage with our two year old. The cottage was warm and spacious and has everything you need. The view is great when waking up in the morning. Easy drive to Wanaka. Farm tour was lovely. Only suggestions are it would be great if the curtains in the bedrooms are black out curtains and blinds be added to the bathroom window.

We've just spent a week in the Gardener's Cottage and absolutely loved it. So well equipped and everything has been thought out.
We loved the fact that we were out of Wanaka and away from suburbia. Our 2 year old loved waking up to the bunny rabbits and deer around the place. Would recommend this place to anyone.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Gardeners Cottage. The Cottage has lots of character and, at the same time, has all the comforts you need. The children loved seeing the deer and rabbits come past, and the view to the mountain was stunning.

A short drive out of Wanaka we passed a couple of quiet nights in this cosy cottage (Gardener's Cottage). On a chilly night, light the log fire and it is toasty warm. The beds were comfy and we had all we needed. Nice people to deal with and a relaxing time. We'd happily return and book here again.

This is a review of the Kanuka Glamping site:
The glamping site was truly unique and the view was stunning. My husband and I are well familiar with camping and all that goes along with roughing-it. Our expectation was that glamping would mean luxury camping, especially for the price which was the same as our per-night stay at the Chateau Tongariro, a truly exceptional, luxurious experience. To us, our stay at Criffel Station was camping, with someone else setting up the tent and a nice bed…which were both of course nice.
Things that would have made our experience live up to the word “glamping.”
—A better way to keep our food cold. Twice we needed to buy ice in town. Guests would really appreciate a good cooler, like a Yeti.
—Better breakfast options. A container of OJ, milk, 2 small yogurts, and a loaf of bread were rather unimpressive. On the third evening, nothing was provided, so we needed to call, which feels awkward. When we called, the gal said she was unaware that we needed anything. She brought us a half a container of OJ in a cooler without ice or frozen block.
—The tent partially caved in and on the third evening and one of the staff came to help us to rig it up better (when she brought us the OJ). But it was obvious the ropes were worn and need replacing.
— Only one chair in the tent. There should be two chairs so both guests can enjoy sitting in the tent.
— The hammock is rather worn and tired.
— At least two outside adirondack chairs so guests can enjoy the view. The way the setup is now, only one person can lay in the hammock and there is no place for the other guest to enjoy the view.
— The outside cupboard is really cute, but it would be nice if there were doors on it to keep the leaves and dust from blowing on the dishes.
— Electricity would be a bonus…even if it’s one outlet somewhere near so phones can be charged. Yes we are unplugging, but we are also vacationing/traveling and devices are needed for planning and calling for outings.
So, for the amount we paid for our glamping experience, we don’t feel it lived up to the name and would have chosen a different option had we to do it again. We are appreciative of the truly unique experience, but feel the owners could either provide a few more amenities to live up to the glamping name, or reduce the price and thereby the expectations that go along with that price-tag.
This site has great potential because of the awesome and remote location, and hopefully the owners will spruce up the experience to make it exceptional.

the cottage was quite a experience, the house was decorated to be a home from every details. the deers were locked up quite far from the cottage, which was a pity. a bit far from wanaka city. overall speaking, it's worth to try one night for the farm experience.

Be sure to book a room as you travel through. And, take the farm tour if available the views and tour are top notch!

Located right opposite the airport. Great farm. Property as advertised online. Hosts are helpful. Had an unfortunate misunderstanding with the host. Would have appreciated if they would be more understanding.
